    1) It means Does Anyone Else
    2) Dan finds the term
    3) ???
    4) It now means “very complicated or hard to explain”

      a bit meta, isn't it? A neologism that means hard to explain being hard to explain in and of itself

    I feel like this evolution began during NL's programming arc where he would say a long paragraph that sounds like gibberish if you don't know Java or whatever and then he'd say, "sorry, this conversation's getting a little 'DAE programming.'" Does that sound right?

    • @shrimpstance
      @shrimpstance ปีที่แล้ว +15

      pretty sure that's correct

    • @chroipahtz
      @chroipahtz ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Exactly right. NL is self-aware that his deep dives on things sometimes start to sound like him showing off, so he would brush it off by saying "it's getting a little DAE ____" to change the subject.

      @squeedles_1943 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Totally came from that era. I have a vague memory of Dan making fun of NL with the DAE voice either playing Dead by daylight (2016) or the culling (2016), he might've been making fun of mathas it's been awhile

    "Not everyone's been here forever." Pshaw, I say, pshaw! The programming arc was a post-2nd-NL-renaissance arc. We few, we happy few, have toiled in the Isaac mines since that long forgotten time when the mushrooms where poisoned, the golf was vertiginous, and DumbDog was but a twinkle in NL's eye.

    Honestly, I can only figure out anything Dan says through context clues. My dude's inventing his own damn language in real time.

    Dan also used it to say things "DAE overload the composite binary function" and then it became synonymous with explaining an overly complicated system on Reddit

    Wild 😭 my first guess was gonna be “Dan bae” (like a term of endearment that people would use to him or things that remind them of him)…
    …And yet somehow that makes even more sense than the actual explanation ☠️

      @@hadisyuaib8613 Rav, stemming from ravioli is used when something is laggy for the viewer but not NL. It was first used as a unique word to get around chat spamming (yes/no) when NL asked: "type ravioli if it's stuttering" or something to that effect.
