      The small pieces of grass that are cut off will spread into the bushes, which will result in greener bushes and more beautiful flowers ;)

    330X running 430X software. 4900 hrs since 2013. 100$ maintenance per year and it keeps on working cutting 2000m2+ in 3 different zones. Great product designed for reliability and maintainability ! It even works with 1 of its 2 lithium ion batteries being broken and waiting for replacement. Great stuff, keep it up!

      @Rone Pharaoh Hounds. I'm not sure about these but my lawnmower has a mulching devices which cuts the grass up into a very fine state and drops it back down. You can't even see the cut grass unless you use it on an overgrown lawn in which case it doesn't work very well.

    I've had my Husqvarna for 3+ years and it has been the best purchase I've ever made regarding my lawn. I have more time because of the mower. I originally had a John Deere dual bagger rider. I would not trade my Husqvarna Robotic mower for a brand new rider regardless of the bells and whistles.

      @@cheefussmith9380 when it’s installed it has a low voltage perimeter wire that is around the perimeter of each section. My mower has a little hard cover that it includes the charging station. It’s covered. My mower mows the front, back, and each side section. I have a large yard and it has a fence. When the mower mows the the side yards I just leave those gates open. I monitor the progress on my iPhone. I control it with an app on my phone. It’s been a huge help and gives me more time with family. It mows day, night, rain or shine. 1) How do you prevent thieves from stealing this thing? Seems like an audible siren is little deterrent these days.
    2) Does this only work on one side of the yard? What if you have a back yard *AND* a front yard?
    3) Is the battery replaceable? What is its lifespan? How much is a replacement battery?

    • @zimmie10
      @zimmie10 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      1) The top of the range models have the alarm, PIN code and GPS tracking. The lower spec models have the alarm and pin code, making it useless to any would-be thief.
      2) If you have 2 separate front and back yards with no passage, you could have a charge station on both sides and alternate the mowing.
      3) Yes the battery is replaceable. It's Li-Ion so they are rarely replaced. The price of a replacement battery for the 450X is around $420 NZD. (About $300 USD)

      The answer the question regarding the lifespan of the battery it's hard to say however if similar batteries used in electric cars like the Nissan Leaf are any guide you can reasonably expect 5+ years of service out of those batteries. If it's closer to a cell phone 2 to 3 years. I will note that bigger batteries tend to last longer and chemistry is continually improving overtime.

    It would be awesome if Husqvarna worked on a way to bridge 2 or more docking stations and software updates that would allow multiple mowers in the same boundary wire. Cutting a 3/4 acre yard can take up to 2 days at the start of the season or if you lower the height.

      Why?
      One mower for twice the time must be cheaper (and easier) than two for half the time? No?
      My machine runs 2.5 hours for each recharging cycle.
      I’d be happy if it needed more more cycles per day to keep the grass trimmed.
      I’m guessing that you ’hibernate’ yours in the winter: I don’t. It runs for 30 mins per day Nov to Feb: if it snows, I switch it off.
      I do have two machines: a 305 keeps the front sward (I hesitate to call it a lawn) down to 10mm, but that was an accident of a bad dealership: they said the 305 could no longer cope so I should buy a bigger machine. Which I did! Then a good dealership serviced the 305 and I ‘put it out to grass’ on the smaller front lawn. It’s been working for 2 decades, with new blades every 2 months, one set of new wheels and a new transformer because a thunderstorm destroyed the original.
      The two systems are separate with a short (2m) common boundary. The two signals do not interact or conflict.

      My MIL has one of these. There were places in her yard, where the grass was so fast growing and thick, that it would lay down instead of cut with a regular mower. It takes a couple of weeks to establish it's pattern. After that, there aren't any yard lines. The only problem she's had in two years, was that it would get stuck in the ditch, and someone would have to come over and rescue it. She had culvert run across the front, so no more ditch. Her yard is beautiful.

      I have a boundary wire all around my property.
      Trees and shrubs overhang the wire, and I keep them trimmed a foot or so above the ground, to allow the mower under them.
      Alongside paths the wire is located between the turf and the path, so that the robot runs a few inches onto the path.
      At the front hedge the wire is as close to the hedge as possible, so the mower is stopped, in places by the hedge and in other places by the wire.
      Part of the land (which we call “the Spring meadow”) has Spring bulbs. This area is protected from the mower, between Christmas and 23 June, by short wooden stakes. On 23rd June (Midsummer day) the long grass is mowed down to 1 inch, the stakes are removed and the mower works that area from 25th June to Christmas.
      We actually have 2 mowers. One mows the front lawn daily down to half an inch. The other mows the rest daily to 2.5 inches. The front lawn is an ornamental monoculture (ugh!). The rest is a fairly diverse ecosystem, which includes the boundary hedges, shrubs and trees.
      The British idea is to mow to the same length as often as possible; the American idea is to remove no more than 1/3 the length each time.

      When I started my H 435X it took a few minutes to link itself to the boundary wire frequency; there's a button-pressing procedure. I don't think it would be a problem.
      But,
      moving the machine from from property to property rather ruins the idea of "little and often". My machine works for a short time every day.
      I'm not sure that scurrying from client to client for a few hours every day is a good business model!
      Better, perhaps, to rent machines to clients. Or to install machines for clients.

    • @LindenOutdoorPowerEquipment
      @LindenOutdoorPowerEquipment 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Dave, these mowers start around $1499 (US Dollar) and go up to $3499. The main difference between the models is the size of the battery, which will allow the mower to handle larger properties. As to the security of the mower one of the items touched on in the video was about the Geofence you can create. If the mower ever gets picked up without the code being entered in it will set off an audible alarm at the mower as well as alerting you on your phone that it's been lifted. If the person disregards the alarm and still takes off with it you can track the mower from your phone. Even if the mower gets turned off the GPS is still active.
      These mowers do mow in a random pattern. But they are also designed to be out in your yard any where from 4-7 days, depending on the size. Because they are out there so often they are only cutting a small fraction off the top of the grass each time they mow. We are just finishing up our second summer with our Automower and I can honestly say our grass has never looked better.

THERE IS ALSO THE THOUGHT THAT MAYBE THIS EXPENSIVE MOWER SHOULD BE LOCKED UP AT NIGHT SOMEWHERE SAFE. ID LIKE IT INSIDE MY HOUSE I THINK FOR SAFETY OR A REALLY GOOD SECURE SHED WHICH HAS A GOOD BOLT AND LOCK ON IT.
