Very cool. I actually live in the flight path of those B-52s and it is kind of a comforting sound to hear them fly. Hope you enjoyed the area Mr Johnston .
Same. When I lived on Shed Road, it would rattle my windows. Then I lived next to the flightline on Northgate and always saw the white plane with a blue? stripe on it parked way out away from everything, and running 24/7. Pretty sure it was one of those planes that continually flies around the globe or whatever they do. Part of Global Strike Command, I'm guessing. It seems that it's an E4B, called the 'Doomsday Plane'.
@@JC-11111 Very nice. Indeed that would be the Doomsday Plane. I have seen it rather few times myself. Even caught a couple photos of it. I've seen the smaller version of it too but the name of that escapes me.
I live an hour from Barksdale but I gave up on attending their open house because traffic management getting on base and parking was worse than any other base I have visited
That's not an airshow, it's a walk around an aviation old folks home. I'm 57 and the B-52 at the end of the video is 4 years older than me. It sure would be nice if the government did routine maintenance, inspections and upgrades on me after my twenty years of service. My landing gear hardly work anymore and my main spar has fatigue cracks. That plane will probably still be flying when I check into Shady Manor.
Wow-I was stationed there in ‘84-87 at Barksdale AFB supply squadron 🇺🇸👍
Great video!! Thanks Erik!!
Glad you liked it!
So many cool planes.
My son-n-law worked on those on beautiful B-52’s at Barksdale mid 2000’s.

My dad retired from Barksdale back in the late 80’s. I’ve always loved that base
@@ErikJohnston Very cool. I see why you are so into aviation. Around here it is known as Barkatraz because you never leave once you come here lol

Yes it was absolutely horrible. I got there very early and got kucky
great video as always, but would have been a good thing to have put what the model of the plains were..

Looks like you got an early start and avoided the crowds that usually block the view of the static aircraft! 😊
You are right!
