The silence after his performance wasn’t edited in. I watched that performance live. The audience was literally stunned as were we in our living room. One of the most memorable performances ever.
You were there or you watched it on tv? I’ve been to an episode of American idol before and we definitely were asked to react certain ways for them to tape and then they add it in when the contestants are performing

One of the best tributes an audience can give to a performer is a moment of silence. It shows that they are still processing the performance and it rarely happens today

More than just silence did you see the freaking awe on all of the judges faces, they couldn't believe the performance in at the rest of his were as good as this there is no way in heck he would have, could have, or should have not won this season, or any of the rest.
Unfortunately, the audience shots of silence were produced separately. Producers have a bunch of tools in their pockets to pull at our heart strings. I’m not saying that they weren’t moved, but the actual few seconds of silence was taped after the show

@@lauriep2018 if they did edit it out, I'm glad they did so tbh. That way we could actually hear him singing without randos screaming in the background, that's a huge pet peeve of mine in these kinds of videos

Even now, 7 years later this song brings me to tears.
Every time I hear him sing it. Every damn time.
And the goosebumps still come no matter how many times I listen to him . Such a beautiful voice.

@ sam kearns it was ABSOLUTELY edited in...you can hear the volume being turned up! That said...he is incredible...one of the best male singers I have heard in a long time....check out his personal TH-cam vids....he did not win because of song choice, I believe.

When you say, you do not care if you interrupt, that is one sure fire way that I may watch a first time but that would be a first & last.

the silence and then the roar..... I watch this all the time. He's amazingly talented and a beautiful person. As a mom I totally was moved by his mom - just so proud and exhilarated to see the crowd erupt. She wasn't surprised, she was like YEAH that's my son, take that bullies!!!

I've heard this song performed by several other people and no one has ever sang it like him! When you listen to him, be literally puts you under a spell! So much emotion that it was unbelievable ❤

Brian is definitely worth seeing again,, he has quite a catalog of singles, duets, and collaborations. He is talented, handsome, well spoken, and best of all - humble. As for Grace, the season winner, she was a quirky kid who actually has a nice career after touring with Imagine Dragons.

He should have won. No disrespect to the girl that won, but, she was just a kid and quirky. He was so polished and ready.
I respectfully disagree. Yes, vocals alone, he was more polished but she wrote her own songs and played her instrument also while she sang. I see Grace Vanderwaal as a generational talent and I fear that the corrupt music industry may have led to her downfall.
When I heard him singing, I shopped everything I was doing and froze. His story his voice his look and compassion OMG was so amazing, YES❤

No edit! We were sitting stunned in front of tv at home, just silent, taking in and processing what we had just heard and witnessed! One of those moments you don't forget. Best cover ever of this song and my favorite version period.

Best cover of this song I've ever heard. When I first saw him on TV singing his audition of Queen's "Somebody To Love", I was in the kitchen, stopped what I was doing and walked into the living to watch whomever this was singing. You should check that video out too
This arrangement was so primal...definitely made his voice more important...WOW!! Best version I've heard...so-o-o much better than anyone else, even the original. WOW! Wonderful vocal control. Wonderful performance!!
BJC is my favorite AGT performer of ALL TIME !!! He's so amazing. I can listen to him all day - I have watched all of his videos 47 million times ! I seriously do not know how he didn't when either. I am such a fan of him.

I've heard "Creep" performed many times, and many different ways, and I've been truly moved by several of them. But for me, Brian's is the Standard. I saw/heard him perform it live that night on AGT. It just took my breath away, blew me away, jaw hit the floor, you name it. He is truly a Great singer, and his version of "Creep" is the best I've ever heard.

A beautiful one of a kind voice. I'll agree with Simon, his voice is breath taking.
Brian Justin Crum is an awesome singer. The song he sang on his first AGT really caught my attention and I've followed his music since. If you're reacting to other non-country singers, consider Dimash Kudebergen / SOS, Ave Maria or Stranger and Marcelito Pomoy / The Prayer.

I watched this performance and that silence was how deeply he touched people. I love that song to begin with but Brian took it to a whole other level! I had chills all over and listen to his video of Creep on a regular basis. He should have won without a doubt! This is why they should not leave it up to the viewers because they’re either too old or too young to understand how to pick a winner!

Loved that performance and Brian Justin Crum should have place much higher than 4th! I think Simon has compassion and hopefully he is helping this young man get somewhere in the music world. It is not easy growing up, kids are cruel to different instead of loving and being kind. Needs to be taught!

Speaking of Adam Lambert, there is an absolutely stunning performance of him singing Who Wants To Live Forever at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2016, with Queen. He learned of the massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, where 50 innocent victims lost their lives. It affected Adam very deeply. I believe it was a gay club and not sure if Adam may have been acquainted with some of the victims. It is a truly memorable performance. Even Brian May and Roger Taylor (original guitarist and drummer in Queen) said they had never heard it sung like that before.
I never watch this and not have the hairs on my arms stand on end. He puts so much of himself into this song, you can hear it and it shows. You are taken in and, if I can dare say so, feel his pain because so many of us car relate to the words. Such a beautiful voice. He should have won.
