The enormous therapeutic potential of hallucinogenic agents is largely untapped mostly due to the obtuse ignorance of conservative politicians who lump all psychoactive agents into the same category as "dangerous drugs." All, or certainly nearly all psychological disorders are treatable through this novel approach. PTSD, alcoholism, depression, rape trauma, and other behavioral maladies all improve when experienced clinicians employ this unique form of therapy.
This is not Canada's first foray into this alternative approach for treating patients. It was also done in the 1950's (See Hofman's Potion) where alcoholics volunteered to take LSD under clinical supervision. The success rate was about 70 percent where a year later 7 out of ten patients were still sober. This is a phenomenally high number in treating a condition notorious for it's addictive grip on the human mind.
The reason why similar programs are not pursued in America is because conservative politicians and their campaign contributors from pharmaceutical corporations don't want any changes made. They care more about profit and power than relieving human suffering.
