Humbled Mr GT at your transparency today. You are not alone in the struggle. In almost all of the arts, artists who push to become the best they can be must wrestle with the costs to other parts of their lives. And that is why for many of us, we never reach those heights, finding the costs more than we willing to pay. I know you aren't looking for pity, but do know, we see you, and can empathize with the struggle. Music is the one language that knows no borders, it transcends all the divisions the world will throw at us....and that is why we so love being a part of this little community. Thank you so much.
the man knows great wisdom 9:11 😬 so many dudes try too hard 👉 or something.. when trying to play guitar.. where as honesty and naturalness is where it's at. and being cool. not being one of those wanky guitar guys out there.
Love it when you get an acoustic out! The Collings sounds great! I recently discovered the Larrivee brand and acquired a OOO Larrivee. And wow.......what an amazing instrument.
Killer video as usual. Loved your reality check at the end. You should try Castor oil on your hands at night.Put plenty on. Rub it into your hands for a minute or two. put a wore out sock on each hand and sleep with it on for a few nights. Cheap, and it works on all body parts.I would be shocked if you didn't notice a difference after the first night. Thanks for all you give to us!
I had a Collings 290 (electric). It was an amazing beast. Played great, sounded great. Hopefully, it found a good home. I fell on hard times and sold it to cover rent. Collings makes great instruments. Hoping to pick up a Collings acoustic in the near future. Happy Saturday! Thank you 🙏🏻🤍
Guthrie, had the DISTINCT pleasure of meeting your amazing mother at a bluegrass festival in N. GA this weekend, through some mutual friends. She's such a treasure and is so proud of you and knows the sacrifices you've made for this journey you're on. May you find someone who comes the closest to that level of understanding, and can meet you there. Cheers!
ThankQ GT ! Playing catch-up, been busy my dang self ! I feel ya 100% on the relationship thang, the Missus and our daughter and I playing a waiting game, nuff about that. It’s guitar, guitar, and more guitar !!! Cheers from Thailand !!! Chief sends…
The Lord will bring the right one at the right time. it's never easy to start a new relationship. You nailed it when you stated the reason why you moved to Nashville, stay safe.
Hey thanks Gt. I love it when you talk about real stuff in your life. I too am an everyday is an adventure guy. I never make list. I tried it, stresses me out. The Collings has a nice sound, I’m sure it will mellow when those wear in. Thanks again! GT
Great show at The Basement! Really loving the vibe you have going on with Jedd, Tom, Nicky G and you. You never quite know who will show up for these gigs…
Man I love your videos! You are an amazing player! Thanks for sharing your stories. It’s nice to see that not only are you a bad ass on the guitar but you are a good dude as well! Thanks again brother!
Hello Mr. Gut! I have a saved category for musicians that play exceptional guitar work on my TH-cam called “Next Level!” Trust me, you are all over that saved category. Your playing is so inspirational to me. I’m nowhere near your caliber of playing but I certainly do appreciate your playing! It’s beautiful! You guys are amazing. I try to incorporate some of the things you do in my playing (mostly at church) but also on my Friday night gig I do with my band mates and friends. Just wanted to drop a line. Have a great week!
This was an important lesson in music and life. It was a great pleasure to meet you at the underdog a few weeks ago. You struck me as a genuinely sincere person and very dedicated to your craft. You give joy to those who hear your music and your words, I am sure it will come back to you in life. I’ll be on the Bitter End stream and wish you a great New York welcome. Safe travels
You sound incredible as always! You might want to check out a Collings OM1A-JL. It’s based on the traditional line but essentially it’s a recreation of Julian Lage’s 39 Martin. The 11/16 nut and neck shape might appeal to a Tele player. And to my ears it sounds about as close to a vintage Martin as you’re going to get.
Your shows are the best deal in town- everyone else charges extra for mistakes. Thank you for creating beautiful music and hope your hand issues resolve 💛
Guthrie, you are an absolute gem for the world. Thank you for sharing all of your wisdom and philosophical perspectives on this awesome journey. And your playing is magical🙏🏽
Guthrie, just watchin' & hearin' you play is always so inspiring to me! Almost always, after your little intro, I'll stop the video, put ny phone down, and just play my (acoustic) guitar for awhile before finishing the video. I can't wait until we can do an "immersion experience" together, lol. "Best friends for life," i love it, can't wait. I'll give you some things to laugh about, and some things to joy after, especially when you think about 'em. Just you wait an' see. That's what my friends say, anyway! Then there's a lesson! Sometimes the best part, but i get lots o' lesson from hearin' & watchin' ya play. Until sometime.... 👍👍👍
Hey Guthrie, you got it! I had 11s on mine (I think Collings always ships with 13s) and it probably has brand new strings (mine were 6 months old and not phosphor bronze).
Thanks Guthrie always great content! Looking forward to the bitter end shows just bought all 3 shows on volume. I live only an hour away but couldn’t get tickets. Can’t wait to see the shows!
Thanks for these honest videos, Guthrie! So genuine. Man - would it be cool to hear you and Theo Von yap it up... he is one of your Nashville neighbors I believe!
Absolutely love this lesson! And the Collings sounds wonderful to my ear. One day when I finally visit Nashville, I will make it a point to hear you live.
Thanks Guthrie. VERY helpful lesson! Collings are great guitars. love my Collings Cocobolo SJ; 01 T and 470 JL all 3 very much. There's a TH-cam video of Tim Lerch playing my 470 JL.. crazy.
Sipping my coffee here Sunday morning listening to this little demonstration Guthrie and your playing is nothing short of fantastic man, dig your channel and maybe one of these days I’ll get to check you out live over a few cold ones somewhere 🤙
I'm really digging the OM Collings. They make wonderful guitars. Collings and Santa Cruz both. I'll be on the lookout for that NY show livestream link. I want to see that!
Just bought "In Stereo"....wow, fantastic. You have to hear it on a good sound system! Keep on keeping on Guthrie....life is ebb and flow. Loved what you said about politics....keep politics and religion to yourself!
Love the playing and especially the "open strings". The hand problem is not uncommon and there are some massage therapists who know how to help with that. Duke Levine recommended a practitioner in western Massachusetts who was really helpful to my son when he injured his left arm from over practicing. The practice is in Housatonic, Massachusetts.
Real talk at the end. Time management is hard. If she is supposed to be with you, she will be. ...Also I went to a Frank Brown guitar seminar to today and Mac brought your name up to the class, I thought that was cool.
Hi Brother. Had same problems with my hands. swelling, arthritis, pain etc. Cut out the pain meds. cut out the SUGARS !! Now I rarely have issues. Hope this helps if even just a little. Thanks for all you do !
Thanks for sharing, hope your heart’s OK? Beautiful playing as ever. All the best from London (very close to Abbey Road as it happens so sending you those vibes)
I have a Collings OM1 T with baked top and it has that warmth and woodiness you might be looking for. See if they'll send you one of those. You sound amazing on that one though!
This lesson was a really fun variation! Very enjoyable. About your hands, have you considered consulting with a good physical therapist? I am sure you would find it very helpful. I know that in the past you shared some stretching exercises with us which is great but a good physical therapist can add a lot to your stretching routine. I know your busy but I think all of your followers would miss your hands almost as much as you would! I am thinking about you and want the best for you.
your lessons are always inspirational. can you address anything about hand pain? ways to overcome it or battles You've had. I rarely play barre chords anymore because they use so much pressure. its actually helped my playing being more focused on intervals and chord fragments..love to hear your thoughts on this, thank you Mr Trapp
Oh, and i see you're wearin' a sweatshirt / hoodie or whatever. Must be nice! Here it is Nov 10 in Charleston, SC and, well, today it's actually only 69 degrees, but it's mostly been in the 80s every day. I I'm sure hope Nashville is cooler, we'll be goin' there when my wife retires! (Assuming i can make some money over the next few yrs...) Ha.
Hi Guthrie thanks for this video. Regarding that last subject you touched on, there's a guy named Ford Thurston who has got all the answers covered in his series "Girls & guitars". Learn some licks and how to handle the ladies all in one video!

Well said Amen to that!
Very well said
That Collings sounds glorious in the hands of a true master. Thank you Guthrie ❤
Love it when you get an acoustic out! The Collings sounds great! I recently discovered the Larrivee brand and acquired a OOO Larrivee. And wow.......what an amazing instrument.
Larrivee are really good
I’m sitting up in bed playing my trusty old D-03 right now.
"Love nothing that is not woven into the pattern of your Destiny" Marcus Aurelius...
Incredible. The guitar and the player. My god.

Wow love your acoustic playing
The opening jam is outstanding. I hope you someday drop a solo album of acoustic jams such as this.
I had a Collings 290 (electric). It was an amazing beast. Played great, sounded great. Hopefully, it found a good home. I fell on hard times and sold it to cover rent.

Stretches that gymnasts do for their wrists are very good to do and have helped me immensely...
Beautiful new acoustic! It'll surely break-in and warm up the more you play it.
Thanx G T, music was given to us to bring ALL people together to have fun and enjoy the very short life we have. Cheers.
Great show at The Basement! Really loving the vibe you have going on with Jedd, Tom, Nicky G and you. You never quite know who will show up for these gigs…
So beautiful, clean, clear and played by a great player with feel and precision! A great guitar with a master craftsman!
Man I love your videos! You are an amazing player! Thanks for sharing your stories. It’s nice to see that not only are you a bad ass on the guitar but you are a good dude as well!
Thanks again brother!
Man, I just picked up a Collings 290 electric and it's a fantastic guitar! I need to add one of their acoustics to the stable.

You are not alone in your introspection.
Guitar sounds bright...bell like.
And it's Allman Brothers forever.

Thank you for sharing your music knowledge with us GT.
Some beautiful sounds there Guthrie. Thank you. I’ll try and see if I can get some of it figured out. I love that open string stuff.
☆ For hand and knuckle issues, one pill of Turmeric once a week or until the pain and stiffness subsides. Works well for me. Hope this helps someone.
I have to say you never disappoint ...love those ragtime voice grouping ...Thanks
Absolutely love this lesson! And the Collings sounds wonderful to my ear. One day when I finally visit Nashville, I will make it a point to hear you live.
The video is pure gold. Shows that you can make great music with more simplistic ideas. Thanks man!
Thanks Guthrie. VERY helpful lesson! Collings are great guitars. love my Collings Cocobolo SJ; 01 T and 470 JL all 3 very much. There's a TH-cam video of Tim Lerch playing my 470 JL.. crazy.

Great Video Thankyou. 🎉🎉🎉
Love Trapp’s Tune Up ❤
The wonderful language we use to describe the sound of guitars. No wonder no one else knows what the hell we're talking about
That guitar sounds GLORIOUS! Alot like a vintage martin.
Hey GT, stuff happens when the time is right. Learn from everything, and move forward. Never force it, let it all flow.
Wow! Blown away 🔥
❤❤ Thanks for every😊 moment you give us
I'm really digging the OM Collings. They make wonderful guitars. Collings and Santa Cruz both. I'll be on the lookout for that NY show livestream link. I want to see that!

Great lesson, great sounding guitar. Chet Atkins Mr. Bojangles is great song to practice this. I am just learning it fingerstyle. 😎🎸🎶☮
Keep on truckin GT.
Damn it, I’m going to have to try one of those.." that tone is perfect for me.
man you can see that razor blade thin bracing in the soundhole, sign of good builds
I would Give Anything to hear you 3 with Gilmour this yr ❤ Brilliant 🎸 🎶 ❤️

Cedar top, Have Zager guitar cedar and rosewood, nice and warm
What song is that at the beginning? It's gorgeous.
DMSO will work wonders for your hands. Amazon, get the one with Aloe Vera.
It's like GT's hands remembers things his brain doesn't 😂
That student should give you his guitar. It's the natural order of things.
