The first episode of The IT Crowd often puts people off, because it's just basically setting the scene and introducing the characters.
It really ramps up in subsequent episodes, though. 😄
Good writing, start slow, end on a high.
Season 2 Episode 1 is when things really begin to ramp up.
It gets really bananas 😂 Denholm (Chris Morris) is great though, he was a bit of a lucky catch for S1.
That's true of the first ep of many sitcoms; it's often one of the weakest as a result.

When they're doing the plan with Jen at the end it's "The A-Team" theme music, referring back to when Renholm has the picture of the A-Team on his desk.
If I remember right, the brief clip you reacted to previously was when they told Jen a small black box was the Internet. So out of context it wouldn't have made as much sense but as you can see from the beginning it is established that she hasn't got a clue about IT.
Auntie Val that Queen Boomer is referring to is played by Tracy-Ann Oberman and Jen is played by Katherine Parkinson. You should put "Toast of London" on your list as it has Tracy-Ann Oberman in it and also Matt Berry, who will appear later in The IT Crowd.
@lifesbutastumblethey’ve been watching Friday Night Dinner and there is a character in that called Auntie Val so I assume that’s who Queen Boomer is talking about.
I was shocked King Boomer didn't know the A-Team it was repeated endlessly in the 80s and 90s it was one of the most watched TV shows of the era.

I know that I'm quite alone with that opinion, but I think his son was a massive downgrade. Denholm was awesome and funny, his son was just more annoying. It's a shame Chris Morris didn't have time to continue the show, but his exit was hilarious :D

Moss (Afro guy) is Richard Ayoade. He is a total genius. True story: when he got the role he asked the creator how he wanted the character to be played and what voice to use. The creator replied that Moss was created to just be Richard Ayoade, so be yourself. The voice is only slightly exaggerated. He is half Nigerian and half Norwegian.

For me it kinda peaks at series 2-3 but then drops in quality with series 4.

It's one of the few British comedies that goes from pretty good to absolutely amazing. It's ramps up every series
The boss is played by Chris Morris - an absolute legend in comedy writing. Famously Benedict Cumberbatch, when asked who he would like to work with, said Chris Morris - 'I would literally do anything he wants....'. Chris headed off and wrote most of a series called Brass Eye and another spoof news series called The Day Today. These were groundbreaking, close to the knuckle pieces of genius. An option for future reactions but you've got to know what you're getting in to! :)

The first episode of the IT Crowd isn’t great but it gets much, much better.

Chris morris who plays the boss is a brillant writer and director, he wrote 4 lions, (you should defo see that) check out brasd eye too. Go down the it crowd wormhole my friends.

Four Lions is imho the funniest British film of this century so far, Morris also directed it as well as co-writing it

fantastic choice on this series, sure you'll love this, it's one of my favourites, and for me personally it's perhaps second to the inbetweeners in terms of a brit comedy series that has a jovial, happy-go-lucky theme and feel. the thick of it is also very good but its much more adult themed, y'know? this is a perfect choice for ur channel imo, good job and ill be watching them all!

So happy you’re finally getting into The IT Crowd! As the episodes go on, they get better and better. The second season is my favourite of the four. The writing is excellent, it makes me laugh until I’m in pain!
The guy who plays the boss is Chris Morris. A comedy Genius who even towers above Graham Linehan . I can’t really think of anyone in American comedy you could compare him to. Larry David or Mel Brooks maybe. A giant. In this series he plays a small part but as you said , steals every scene he’s in.

Glad that you gave this another go. It’s hard to pick up just from clips- it’s all about situation and context. Every episode gets wilder and sillier- you’re going to love it.
If you like Chris Morris as the Boss in this, you might like him in The Day Today (which the character Alan Partridge first appeared on TV in) and Brass Eye, which he co-created. He also did a very dark comedy called 'Jam' which was ported over from a radio series called 'Blue Jam'. Both featured sketches that really pushed the boundaries of what is acceptable comedy. The best (and tamest) Jam sketches can been seen by looking on youtube for all the 'Insane Doctor Scenes' and there is a compilation of them.
Chris also wrote the film 'Four Lions', a comedy about the big T.
He also co wrote a spoof newspaper column as Richard Geefe, a journalist who announced in his column he was going to kill himself and write about what it was like to be staring death in the face. People thought it was real.
Brilliant series, great characters, great writing. Can't wait until S02E01, you'll die laughing.
One of my favourite series. I have watched and rewatched them so many times, they just get better with age! Superb writing.

Richard Aoyade (Maurice Moss) is incredible not only in this role. He is using a similar persona on other appearances such as the big fat quiz series hosted by jimmy carr, the clashes between Aoyade and Carr are among the funniest what brit tv has to offer.
He is using a similar persona because that's (more or less) his personality. He's not an IT nerd, but he is… precious.

I’ve had a lot of Dutch courage to bring this up because it’s been bugging me for ages now and I cannot stay silent anymore.
I love your reactions and have been watching them for a very long time now.
However I really think you should do something with the intros to your videos because they are annoying as f**k.
Imagine being a new person to your channel on a recommendation from the TH-cam algorithm, you click it because its Father Ted etc, only to be greeted with a face that looks kinda mental and then you going ‘baaaa baaaa baaaa there is a muppet on the loose’
I honestly think new people might think ‘wtf is this’ and ditch watching the vid.
Now I know you are playing to your audience and I get that but your growth has really slowed down.
If I may be so bold Sir, your intro should show you falling about laughing which is what you do best, but also include Queen B in some form or other, because she is an integral part of everything you do now and everyone loves her just as we love you.
So please ditch the stupid ‘who is this ghastly man intro and your stupid ‘baaa baaa baaa’.

Here is a classic case of two Americans attempting to focus on British comedy and failing.
Stereo typical American behaviour attention always deviate's to visual because of a lack of attention to the overall narrative of character. This comedy is already hugely out of date in the UK and the overplayed characteristics of character that they simply don't get, due to the eccentricates of the British which are vast in comparison to American. It isn't so much culture it is character. American characters have approx 12 stereo types Britain has hundreds if not more. This programme is over simplifying character so it is designed to be very simple indeed.
You clearly have NEVER seen the A-Team...
Oh guys and gals I know this is nothing to do with this video but just watched an old one but if you think flake and ice cream is crack! Try and see if you can find a Walls Viennetta over in the US, it is that dessert but posh, you can pull it out at a dinner party to impress the friends.
The enter in/exit out elevator thing is mainly at tube stations, airports, etc.
Most others have the same entrance & exit on the same side.

The IT Crowd and Father Ted are my 2 favourite shows. Definitely stick with it this show gets so much better as the episodes go on. I believe this first episiode is their lowest rated episode on IMDB, and rightly so, as they were finding their feet this episode, it gets so much funnier and goofier
