Okay, so I'm different from most fans. I look past the glitter to find the actual usefulness of college facilities. Too many schools have gotten distracted by pursuing the sizzle instead of the substance these days. Oregon, Clemson, and all of the Texas school have fallen victim to that mentality. But there are still a few places out there that put the priority on investing in the right things. By that, I mean the tools and the equipment that serve a purpose in creating a marked improvement in making you a better player, coach, and trainer. At a time when everyone is swimming in TV contract, apparel, and booster money, what are you investing it in to make your program better beyond the pursuit of hopefully attracting great recruits? There are a few who stand above the rest. Alabama, Oklahoma, and USC do this better than everyone else. USC opened a spectacular facility a few years ago. Oklahoma did the same this year actually. Alabama is the hard one to measure. It's difficult to even gauge how far ahead of everyone else Alabama is because they're in a constant state of construction and renovation. They'll build an opulent new something; use it for 4 or 5 years, then reinvest into upgrading it again. Bama doesn't ever pause to catch their breath. Their weight room is supposedly the best in the NCAA & NFL combined. They just erected a dining hall that blows my mind because they have 3 full time gourmet chefs & their staffs who specialize in sports nutrition preparing their meals for players. And their sports rehabilitation & player evaluation clinic is considered the most technologically advanced in America. Of course, when you have the kind of money Bama does, there's always enough left over to waste on the amenities & creature comforts too.
I am a Buckeye fan, but I watch UK play on game day and hope they win against other teams just because they try so Damn hard against teams with the top recruits. Of course, if they ever played Ohio State someday I gotta root for my team.
