I use a EXH memory man (stereo W/Hazerai!) for stereo delay (and both amps when not using delay) and a Marshall Bluesbreaker mk1 when I want to get a crunchier sound. This vid confirmed how much I love the Vox sound. One day I’ll have to upgrade size but keep the amps similar (I’m a solo artist and have so far been playing small venues) The HT1 gets very nasty on the boost channel so that little guy pushed (reverb off) and Vox in sweet spot is my current sonic heaven. Then I sing with a Marshall AS50D which doubles for acoustic. Now if I can only work out how to balance it all on my motorcycle... Finally, super great editing on this one! Stereo amping is so underrated. I used to run my epiphone jr head into a 2x12 and my 1w custom amp with the bias switching set to high comp through a 1x12, with one cranked and one clean. Had a stereo delay set as a splitter. magical sounds
I love amp stacking. My old rig i used an Ampeg SVT3 with an Ampeg classic 4x10 cab and a Roland Jazz Chorus 40 together in stereo and it was perfect. And yes i was using an Ampeg SVT3 for guitar. (also bass) I lost all my old gear in a move across the country (America) and now im using an Egnater Tweaker 40 Combo and a Roland Jazz Chorus 40 together, but its not the same. I still really enjoy it, but there was some magic in the lows and mids with the ampeg for guitar then some crisp highs and clarity with the JC40. But i love pairing tube with solid state, and i love pairing amps that handle certain frequencies better than others to find that perfect clarity and massive stereo field. I also play mostly clean. Im not really mixing some dirt in with my clean to retain clarity throughout the saturation, and im not using a switcher to use each amp separately. I really suggest for someone to try an SVT3 on guitar. It needs to be tweaked on its graphic eq, but its phenomenal if u dial it in just right.
I've been using multiple amps since the '90s. Usually a tube amp with 12s and a solid state (pre-digital) with 10s. The different power sections with different size speakers really makes for a more complex sound.

Speaker/cab differences really hit different. Running a 65 twin 15", Marshall 1x12 combo, and mesa 4x12. Very versatile. Clean, crunch, lead. And mix of any three.
Brilliant experiment, thanks. I have done that with a Bluesbreaker as the fundamental tone and a Pro Junior as the cream on top for cutting through. Now, I do it with an AC15 for the base tone and a Night Train 15 (head) for beef. However, I find myself having both amps on most of the time because they seem to complement each other. Conversely, the Bluesbreaker and the Pro Junior were so different (2x12” + 1x10”) that they became a perfect match for clicking in and out for specific purposes in a song. Thanks for all your content.

@@Sylvain44 very nice. I used to have those heads. My favourite pairing was the JTM cranked and the JCM driven by a Bogner Ecstacy Blue pedal. I miss that rig...
Interesting and fun! I got Dan and Mick in one ear with the wet and dry setup now you come along and tell me I need to buy another amp! That Vox does add to anything though.
@@andertons I’ve always found it weird that she likes high gain tones. Screaming scares her. But turn on a Mesa dual rec through a bridge humbucker and she will come over for the show.
I once played my Egnater tourmaster and my Hughes and Kettner GM40 at the same time with a chorus pedal splitting the signal. That sounded epic in my living room. I can just imagine how massive all 5 of those amps sound together.
I had a Marshall C5 and Blackstar H1 stacked for home use for ages and it was GLORIOUS. Can also use stereo pedals to set it up for delay effects etc. Wish I hadn't sold them.
I ran a Vox AC10 with a Deluxe Reverb for a while and loved it but finally just got an AC30 and traded the Deluxe Reverb and now use the AC10 with the AC30. My guitars are a Strat, Tele, and 335. I just can't get enough Vox. A cranked AC30 and a 335 are magical and the AC10 with a Tele are absolutely glorious as well.
Yes yes yes yes. This is how I've been doing my recording for years now and it's magical. I ditched double tracking in favour of two amps of different gain structure with two mics on each cab. You get a different kind of stereo width and more spontaneous performances. I never looked backed. I perform with a stereo rig where possible too... though it's a bugger to lug around that kind of gear.
Take this song for an example (recorded with a mk.2 Chapman CAP10 no less 😉): drive.google.com/file/d/1t5itEpaBVV0pZJDuAMEseCKSUh-L3O77/view?usp=drivesdk
After a tip from a friend I started using my Positive Grid BIAS Head in parallel with a Blackstar HT5 and it sounds immense. The biggest surprise was that with the cabs separated by a meter or two it sounds like playing a gig, even at low volume because the sound is coming from different directions. It fools you into thinking it's filling the room.
I've been stacking a Katana 50 with a 1990 20 watt Marshall valvestatete. It's what I have at home. The Marshall has a Celestion speaker and has sounded great since I bought it new as my first amp in 1990. I play an '89 Fenix tele through it (pre copyright lawsuit so it's identical!) The Katana does everything really well but my little old solid state Marshall just adds some real warmth and thickness to the sound that I can't get from the Boss even through tone studio. Plus the Marshall has a great real spring reverb which I love! TLDR, I approve this video and my favourite was everything but the Fender through Lee's LP on the neck pickup. Stay safe everyone!
You wind up being only a step away from doing dry-dry, wet-dry or even wet-dry-wet at this point, the possibilities are HUGE! I currently run wet-dry with the Katana and an Orange Crush Bass 50, what I learned from this video is I need that Victory Sheriff!
Great video. I thought about this back in April, since I can't really go anywhere anymore. I decided on running a Boss Katana Artist MkII as a wet signal and a Blackstar HT Club 40 MkII Kentucky Special as dry, run them both through an Orange Amp Detonator. The sound is spectacular.
Two Fender Hot Rod Devilles with wet signals stereo effects and with a dry Vox Night Train dry in the middle. All amps set just a bit over the breaking point (I use a Bugera Power Soak on both Fenders). Wah and one drive pedals before the split, one drive pedal after the AB swithc before the stereo effects. So I can choose if I drive all three amps or just the fenders or I can drive them all by the first drive pedal or just turning up the volume on the guitar. The fenders take pedals really well and the Vox adds clarity to the tone.
I used to run my Vox AC15 with my Boss Katana Artist (and it was great), however these days I feel I get a better tone running the AC15 with a Fender Bassbreaker 45 combo. I run it wet/dry (reverb on the Vox) and it's absolutely awesome!
I run two amps simultaneously through a Earthquaker Swissthings pedal. I run a Carvin X50B with 4x12 cab and a Marshall jcm800 combo 4010. It's amazing, the Carvin is the higher gain big low end and the Marshall adds the screaming mids and top end, they mesh really well !
Marshall and Vox! 😍 I run a JCM800(1960a cab) together with an AC30CC2(Lyle Caldwell mods) Amazing! Thinking of adding my singers Hotrod Deville to the mix!
Man the old studio! Hope you fine folks are well! Ive been considering doing the Victory V4 with my boss katana set up. I'm just deciding which one I'd pair it with probably either the Kraken or the Copper.
Now think of this concept in a band with 2 guitar players, to me this really demonstrates that properly sitting in the mix is more important than cutting thru the mix. Yes, you wanna cut thru mix when you play a solo but that may be only a few seconds per song, the whole song is more important.
I think pairing multiple amps sounds good at live performances in clubs, stadiums. On recording, especially in headphones, you can hear phase problems at different frequencies, it is better to take one guitar to record a double track in one amplifier, then take a second guitar and record another double track in another amplifier.
For the small cheap amps, I use a Vox Ac10c1 cream and a Fender super champ x2 (head and cab) in stereo. They are amazing together. The brightness from the fender and the boxyness from the vox, it’s a match made in heaven for a rhythm player!
The Vox AC15 and AC30 are Great alone with Pedals, Yes even for Metal but are Amazing for using for a stacked tone with any other Amp.. They are such a well rounded Amplifier.. Billy Duffy from The Cult Uses the Roland JC120 for his Cleans with the Vox AC30 and a Friedman/Marshall for his drive Tones with the Vox AC30.. The Key is that Vox.. It really does add that Earthy Tone to everything.. Not only that but the chime from the Amp that it is known for really helps make each note that you play distinguishable with higher gain Tones.. My Favorite Personal Tone is Using a Vox AC30 just on the brink of Breakup with a Metal Muff or an EVH Overdrive, Or playing the Vox naturally Overdriven and pushing it with an MXR Zakk Wylde Overdrive.. Most People think the Vox Amps are only good for 60's Rock.. It simply is not true.. Especially if it is loaded with Celestion Greenbacks.. They Handle the High Gain and also the Classic Vox Tone Perfectly while i find the Celestion Blue speakers are only good for the Vintage Tones..
I’ve always had the idea of taking tons of small heads and taking them apart to stuff them inside one large head with special switches to let me activate different combinations on the fly.
Great vid from Andertons. Another great vid is from Premier Guitar has an excellent educational rig rundown of Joe Bonamassa explaining his amp stacking and what an incredible sound you can get from doing so
I play a tweed deluxe with a blackface Deluxe Reverb simultaneously. The tweed has the midrange and distortion while the blackface gives clean low end and some sparkle up high. The blackface tone stacks are scooped in the midrange so this combination covers the whole frequency spectrum just the way I like it
The cheap amps would be good because most people don't have the funds, especially struggling musicians. Nevertheless, it will give them a great sound. I roll with a Bugera, Vox Valvetronix and a Katana 50. Anyone will do, but just keeping the ones I was using when adding new ones just sounded amazing. So I never sold my old amps, just incorporated them. The whole set up was around $600 and if I cranked them all I could fill a nice sized hall but even at low volumes the sound just has so much more character to it that I don't think I could go back to just one amp if I tried. It would be like breaking up with a girl who let you cheat...
Good vid as always. I tried a few double amp set ups, but decided I prefer a single amp. The twin set up does give a full sound but it looses focus. However I play clean and dynamics are important to me so others may feel differently.
@@StratBoss for clean i dont use any pedal on my HRD (tube). Just find the spot were it starts to break up and then roll the volume a tiny bit down on the guitar. Don’t use too much reverb. Depending on what sound you are trying to get a good delay pedal can help too
@@StratBoss You can take any tube screemer type of pedal you like. A Durple is always a good choice. ;) But don't boost the preamp too much. I think i have a Mk3 , its 2-3 years old. But i dont think there are big differences between them.
Thanks TBY SCLZ . I'm currently using the GT100 effects processor but seriously thinking about going back to separate pedals. I'll have a look at the Durple - a new one for me so will be fun to look at :)
I love blending amps for a bigger and fuller tone, but something doesn't sound right here. Like there's a cocked wah on or something. Everything is so fizzy too. I think it's worth making more videos with this concept though.
I am wondering if the s1 switch is phase on this guitar and Rob had it switched in alot doing an out of phase lead thing on Bridge and neck where it mixed the middle out of phase.
I used to run two for years. First a Super Reverb with a Mig 30. Then a Mangatone 460 with a Gretsch 6166. Now it's an Anderson 45/60 with a Helix 4CM as the other amp. ;) P.S. Get a good Lehle or similar splitter to do it.
I play around with this sometimes and it's fun but I don't think it works out well for me in the end. One dialed in head driving two cabs sounds better and is easier to carry around. As I said though, this is a load of fun and educational to try a bunch of different gear in weird combinations, not trying to be a snob or anything
I am running five amps right now. Those bits are expensive, so all I have are the three main and a couple panning to emulate Harmonic Trem. The echo is finally coming together as well, I am just a few thousand dollars away from getting those transducers on line. 💸
At the jam spot I have 2 15 watt amps. An Egnater Tweaker 15 head set like a Marshall into a 2x12 loaded with a Celestion alnico blueback and a G12H30 70th anniversary and I pair that with a Vox ac15c1x I still have to workout cabs, but I have a multiwatt Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier, a dumble clone and a 1967 black panel Fender Bassman, I should try the head, chest, belly thing! :O I wish you would have told us what speakers are in each cab/combo, that actually makes a big difference. Cheers.
Dan and Mick are disappointed you didn't do wet dry 😁. Bet it sounded great in the room. The cleaner sounds weren't standing out even using earphones. I bet the 3D projection in the room makes a difference.

I was in tears at the coffee guzzle under Rob's exposition. I got more laughs out of that than from Adam Sandler's entire oeuvre. Thanks Rory.
Captain "Stay hydrated" Lee 😁😁😁
The Sheriff and the Boogie sounded the best to my ears.
I'm only 1 minute into the vid and editing is on point!!!! Lol
LOVE the edits on all the videos.
Ac30, fender bassman and a twin reverb done as a wet/dry/wet sounds glorious but heavy as hell to cart around and bloody loud.
I use a two-rock and Jackson in stereo. Both loaded with golds micd with Neumanns. I’ve tried all sorts of amp sims but can’t beat the real thing.
I’ve always had the idea of taking tons of small heads and taking them apart to stuff them inside one large head with special switches to let me activate different combinations on the fly.
Humorous editing!!! I was laughing out loud! More, more!
Great vid from Andertons. Another great vid is from Premier Guitar has an excellent educational rig rundown of Joe Bonamassa explaining his amp stacking and what an incredible sound you can get from doing so
Oh my that mug video edit was monthy python level of humor, thanks that made my day.
I run my Victory Sheriff 22 clean, and I pair it with a dirty B. Hinds Terror. Glorious.
I play a tweed deluxe with a blackface Deluxe Reverb simultaneously. The tweed has the midrange and distortion while the blackface gives clean low end and some sparkle up high. The blackface tone stacks are scooped in the midrange so this combination covers the whole frequency spectrum just the way I like it
This was an excellent episode.
The editing on this video is unbelievably great.
Good vid as always.
I tried a few double amp set ups, but decided I prefer a single amp. The twin set up does give a full sound but it looses focus. However I play clean and dynamics are important to me so others may feel differently.
Hang on a minute? Is Andertons telling me I need to buy 5 amplifiers and cabs now? Haha
loved watching Mick and Pete
I used to run the amp out of my marshall jcm 602 into input one of my 1965 Princeton reverb with a single 12 extension cab. Pure butter
That editing of Lee drinking the tea😂
Maybe its just me but i think the Fender Deluxe clean sounded stellar. I wouldn’t need anything else than a good pedal in front of it !
I've just been working on my HRD clean sound. What pedal would you suggest?
@@StratBoss for clean i dont use any pedal on my HRD (tube). Just find the spot were it starts to break up and then roll the volume a tiny bit down on the guitar. Don’t use too much reverb. Depending on what sound you are trying to get a good delay pedal can help too
Thanks. What would you use for overdrive? Also, I have a Mk3 HRD but I tried out a Mk4 recently and think it's better - what do you have?
@@StratBoss You can take any tube screemer type of pedal you like. A Durple is always a good choice. ;) But don't boost the preamp too much. I think i have a Mk3 , its 2-3 years old. But i dont think there are big differences between them.
Thanks TBY SCLZ . I'm currently using the GT100 effects processor but seriously thinking about going back to separate pedals. I'll have a look at the Durple - a new one for me so will be fun to look at :)
it sounded so damn good at the end.
Maybe, something sounds weird though.
Morley tripler is another great pedal switcher for running three amps. Good episode today
I'm doing this currently with a princeton clone I built and a 58' Fender Harvard.
It's bliss.
I used to run two for years. First a Super Reverb with a Mig 30. Then a Mangatone 460 with a Gretsch 6166. Now it's an Anderson 45/60 with a Helix 4CM as the other amp. ;)
P.S. Get a good Lehle or similar splitter to do it.
Massive credit to the editors. Excellent work.
I like a Deluxe Reverb and Blues Junior IV stereo setup!
The editor kills me
the entire team rocks
I play around with this sometimes and it's fun but I don't think it works out well for me in the end. One dialed in head driving two cabs sounds better and is easier to carry around.
As I said though, this is a load of fun and educational to try a bunch of different gear in weird combinations, not trying to be a snob or anything
There was a lot of guitar talk in the Anderton's Mug demo. 😁
I am running five amps right now. Those bits are expensive, so all I have are the three main and a couple panning to emulate Harmonic Trem. The echo is finally coming together as well, I am just a few thousand dollars away from getting those transducers on line. 💸
the whole tea drinking thing is super funny.
At the jam spot I have 2 15 watt amps. An Egnater Tweaker 15 head set like a Marshall into a 2x12 loaded with a Celestion alnico blueback and a G12H30 70th anniversary and I pair that with a Vox ac15c1x
I still have to workout cabs, but I have a multiwatt Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier, a dumble clone and a 1967 black panel Fender Bassman, I should try the head, chest, belly thing! :O
I wish you would have told us what speakers are in each cab/combo, that actually makes a big difference. Cheers.
Dan and Mick are disappointed you didn't do wet dry 😁. Bet it sounded great in the room. The cleaner sounds weren't standing out even using earphones. I bet the 3D projection in the room makes a difference.
