When LeBron Scored 25 Straight Vs The Pistons

  • Right now the conference finals are going on and we've have seen some pretty good performances so far. Luka has been dominating the Timberwolves. Jaylen Brown had a huge game 2 for the Celtics Tatum just had a great game the other night. But I don't think we are going to see anything like what LeBron did to the Pistons in 2007 for a very long time.

Here is a list of players still active today, who were in the league at that time:
    Chris Paul
    PJ Tucker
    Kyle Lowry
That's it. Tucker and Lowry were rookies and barely saw playing time. Paul was a decent sophomore, but missed the playoffs.

I’m not gonna be the one to turn this into a goat debate, so that isn’t the point of my comment at all. But I think we all need to acknowledge how special you need to be to carry as many teams as LeBron has to the finals, regardless of win or loss. He’s beaten so many championship favorites to advance to the finals while his second best players were bonified role players. I think that should be something added onto his resume as well. So many of the all-time greats, top 5 caliber players, needed someone else to make it to the finals. Jordan, Kobe, Kareem, a bunch of amazing top 5 guys who needed help. Lebron was his own help, and that definitely gets undervalued a lot now.
Edit: Everyones big on Ant this playoff run, so imagine he beat the Mavericks this year without Kat, Rudy, Jaden, or Naz. If it was JUST him and the role players the Timberwolves have. That’s what LeBron has done three times.

I mean, there’s a world of difference between a first round game against a baby Magic team in which you scored 18 straight in a loss in an era where scoring is far easier than LBJ scoring 29 of the last 30, in a ECF win against a team who made their 5th straight conference finals in a tougher era to score

Although Lebron’s run is impressive, I feel like many people tend to grossly underestimate his supporting cast.
Although they weren’t a great offensive supporting cast, Anderson Varejao, Drew Gooden, and Big Z were stifling defensive interior guys, and Damon Jones, Daniel “Bouby” Gibson, and Sasha Pavlovic were good three-point shooters.
So I believe that although Lebron’s supporting cast wasn’t great, it was better than people remember.

I agree with this. They were a great regular season team and high seeded for a reason. But that's the thing. They were not built to stare down a barrel 4 times and bury a team. They lost a good amount of season series and no championship team is just one man with no supporting cast. Which because of talent disparity coaching decisions and fit is what the cavs devolved into every single time. If you had to play wm once chances are they'd beat you. Play em in a 5 or 7 game series and you'd better pray lebron stayed hot as a blowtorch or the defense gassed the opps.

As a Clevelander and life long basketball fan, let me tell you his supporting cast was ASS. "Stifiling" would be in no way ever mention with Big Z and Drew Gooden. Gooden was a terrible low IQ player just getting by on some decent athleticism. Hughes was nicknamed "Mr. Glass" by the locals because he was never healthy or checked out after he secured his bag. He was not the same player from his last year in Washington ever again. Snow could not shoot. Jones was washed. Booby* was a decent shooter, but could not bring anything else to the table. Sasha had his career season in the league with 9 PPG, but would average just 4 for his career. You are just making stuff up to hate. THis cast wass terrible and often looked at as the worse supporting cast in Finals history.

Modern NBA is like damn near 30ppg. I get it was the 2000s but 19ppg even with the high assists is not even close to late 2010s hoops. Also those suns teams could box while playing clean and ain't nobody in the west has a set of hands like that these days. Ant and the wolves got the talk but has yet to cash that check. And well draymond at this point is probably a bigger detriment to the warriors than helpful so.....maybe at one time he was comparable. Boogie was a force but it never translated into long term success sadly. Yeah this aint it my guy. 2000s ball was so so not like today
