We tow our trailer (although only 5,500lbs) with a 1/2 ton hybrid. It has great torque and in my opinion is the best of both worlds for a light RV. I get great mileage in the city while it takes advantage of the electric motor but have the range needed when doing bigger trips. I share your opinion about the interior of the CyberTruck but am not a fan of the exterior. Until battery range increases exponentially, they are not viable for anyone that wants to drive more than 2 hours at a time.
I wonder how it would feel backing an Rv with four wheel stearing. Also I have noticed locally that electric vehicles that don’t use the brakes but just decelerate no brake light go on. I think that could be a potential rear end collision given how quickly electric motors slow down. Thanks for taking us on a towing test drive.
@@andrewfidel2220You mean tell us someone at NHTSA had already thought about that potential problem before deceleration electrics were allowed on the road?? Wow.
The skies were beautiful! So cool you got to experience that. We had a hope of pulling our Airstream with a Cyber truck! Jim even did a "mock up" of one with our Airstream. 😊 How cool that you got to not only drive one, but experiment with pulling your RV. Great drone footage, until BLAM! Yes, Jim crashed his first drone, and found it, but it was not repairable. -Michelle

It Looks Cool As Heck And It Sounds Like Fun. A Bunch Of You Tuber's Have Tried Them. And The Winabego Electric RV. Range seems to be The Only Issue.
We have a Model Y and towed our car trailer with it. Empty load but still. We got looks for sure. It's super nerve wracking to drive till you get used to it. Glad you guys could try it out!
Awesome Episode. Thank you Drew, this was a good look into the Truck. The shirts look great. If you're not crashing your drone, you're not flying your drone. Crashing is going to happen the best "captures" have the most risk of crashing. Unless you're at the beach. and the ocean is your obstacle 😂
The truck is....unique. 😉 I've grazed several trees with my DJI Mini 2, including in the Yukon last summer. It actually fell from quite a distance, but I recovered it, and it worked perfectly. They're remarkably durable.
Something that has to be addressed for EV towing is the fact that charging stations are not built for trucks with trailers, etc. Every time you charge up you will have to disconnect, drive over to charge station and then charge and reconnect.
Precisely. Existing lithium battery technology just isn't going to cut it due to the long charging time. Driving 2-3 hours followed by 2-3 hours charging isn't going to work for most people towing long distances.
Fun, surprising episode! My son is out in Austin building the CyberTruck. They’re trying to keep up with demand working 12-hour days. A guy with our same model Brinkley TT is towing it with his CyberTruck and doing all the testing for range, etc. I think he’s consistently gotten about 100 miles with 11k GVWR. He tows with his F350 for longer range trips. Corey, you may be onto something with your idea to tether the RV solar to the vehicle. 🤷♀️
We just saw one at Myrtle Beach state park & had no idea it was a truck. I wasn’t a fan of the exterior either but I figured it would be cool inside. Im so shocked it tows that much. Thanks for all the info. Great video
Saw one parked at Sams Club today. While beyond ugly but dwarfed vehicles in surrounding spaces - including half ton and 3/4 ton. good to see 4 wheel turn and would need them to negotiate tight parking lot. That full glass roof brought out bad memories from last year in Italy, and luckily with concern about Italian driver stereotypes took out the optional insurance on the rental. Middle of the night had a hail storm with what sounded like baseball size hail at the AirBnB outside Verona. While had major dents and cracked windshield, Hertz couldn't replace it because all their cars were damaged by same storm so drove it to Milan for flight back. Other residents/guest in the AirBnB had far more damage, including busted out windows, in their personal car as they were Europeans. Getting back to Tesla, one guest had friends staying further north at Lake Como where the same storm totally destroyed his glass roof Tesla. Got to the Milan airport, turned in the rental...and owed nothing!
Wow, I'm so excited to see your CyberTruck Grand Design tow adventure! 👍🇺🇸 What's the size and weight of your Reflection? My MAJOR QUESTION ... Because I'd like to replace my RAM for towing our GD Imagine. 🤪 *** I worry greatly about missing my big Towing Mirrors! What is your opinion based on all the turns and country roads🤔 ??? I know Range is an issue, but it will take at least a year or two for my order to fill, and I expect Range to be 500mi by then. We own a Model Y now and LOVE it. I also LOVE that it's the most American made truck! 🇺🇸🇺🇸💖
If you find a way to put a 50Kw generator on the bed, you may turn this into a range extender for when towing... They need to add at least more 100Kwh to the battery to make it towing worthy but if they come up with a "self-parking" feature to park the trailer, that will be something...
This is to cool. For camping around in state, it would be great and work fine. I could charge it at home, pull to campground in state, then charge the truck at the campsite. So, from a fuel cost, this might be a big savings. Even going out of state to let's say the Smokies, I would only have to charge it once on the way which is no big deal. You guys are great.
Our country’s infrastructure needs to be part of the discussion. EV’s are heavy vehicles. Some, like the Tesla truck, offer extender packages for the bed of the truck (more batteries for longer range). This adds even more weight. I’m thinking of bridges, roadways, parking garages, etc that were not built with capacity for everyone driving with much heavier vehicles on a routine basis. This doesn’t even include the added burden to our electrical grid nationwide which in some areas of the country would cause havoc. I like the idea of them. Would be great if they recharged fully while driving, could actually tow an RV of mid to large size beyond one hundred miles, and had better more ecological ways of mining for lithium for the batteries (it’s pretty awful from the videos of the process in Africa) and disposal of said batteries. I see nothing wrong for those who want to buy them. It’s just that consumers should not be FORCED to buy them. They do look like they have major innovations. Tesla definitely seems to be way ahead of the game in the EV market.
I can see electric coming along within 10 years for RVing. The infrastructure across the country has to catch up. I do like the idea of using the camper solar system to augment the tow vehicle. So, there are ways ahead. But, I'm glad we have options now. Thanks for sharing.
@@FindingOurSomeday It would be slow. 2 kilowatts of solar output is under 2% of the Cybertruck's capacity. Over the course of a bright summer day, they would only replace about 10-12% (at best) of the truck's capacity (about 10-12 miles of driving while towing, per your test). Those are some big batteries to charge.
Have seen 2 of these trucks in So Cal. One is my neighbor’s. Going to take a while to get used to the looks of it. Looks like it would be fun to drive.

I would like more information on how that cyber track does with towing trailer on hills & mountains. I just cant see it towing anything thru the rocky mountains. I agree, i think around town it would be fine. But in areas of our country that some towns are 100's of miles apart or if you live in rural, back country, you'd have to find a charging station before you could turn around & go home. As well as how the batteries don't do well in cold & extreme heat. More research and refinement needs to be made, as well as the cost needs to come down before most people would buy! But, thanks for your fun video. Beautiful photography!
So it can tow 11k lbs and also take load in the bed, so with a 5th wheel configuration, you could tow a 14k lbs 5er. As long as both the tow weight and truck bed weight isn’t surpassed?
Great episode! Nice review on the Cyber Truck. You gave good common sense thoughts on where it can work and where it just isn’t quite ready yet. I love the fact your shirts are a family project and you use your brother’s company to print your them.
Not nearly as much of a joke as a squatted brodozer with offset bicycle tires and nearly every ounce of utility removed from the truck, but I get your point.
The reason it looks so stupid is because the guy made his engineers slap something together quickly just so he could be the first to come out with an EV truck. Seriously. That thing is basically a 10 yr olds doodle.
A refrigerator on wheels😬 while hooked to your trailer, does the truck have a trailer braking mode (setting) and a similar GM Stabilitrak system🤔 Just think, all wheel steering while backing your camper into a site 😳😎 Truck side view mirrors should be able to slide out more, so you can see 'down" the side of your camper 🤔
I have air suspension on my '23 Tundra, love it. Love it levels your truck after you hook up your load. But, in that thing. If you run low, you can not just pull into any gas station and fill up. There are so few places to recharge and if you can. Do you want to spend couple of hours recharging? That is one of the things the infrastructure package is supposed to help with. Also the battery companies are not going to get EV going until they get charge times down to 30 minutes or less. Tell me this. If you had to pull in and charge up. Would you buy an EV where very time you had to stop, 2 hours ? Or would you get a gas or hybrid. 5 minutes you are on your way ? I am not dissing EV, just the infrastructure is not there yet. Battery charge times is not there yet. It will be, just not at the moment.
That's just way cool, but not very practical for full time RVing, like you said. I was impressed with how much cargo space it had. From the outside it doesn't look like it would hold much. Thanks for the FOS review!
I have seen the Cyber truck several times here in SoCal, and initially, they didn't appeal to me, but I have to say I liked the way it looked with your trailer. I'd like to see what it would look like with my Heartland Bighorn connected. I also think it would be awesome if there was a way to recharge the batteries while traveling.
I seen one of those Tesla Cyber Trucks on I65 going south in Louisville Kentucky on July 4th. I was in my 2500HD Duramax and it was flying through a 55 MPH zone. LOL
I drove cybertruck at a dealer. Really enjoyed it. Any of you out there who have not driven a plaid Tesla-please find and drive one-you will be amazed times 10. No kidding. My whole view of what I like in a car was changed after driving a plaid Tesla. Is there anything that compares in that price range?
If you let off the accelerator, and that simulates braking, does that actuate the brake lights on the trailer, or are you slowing down, without giving drivers behind you any indication?
Did you know their were 3 museum's in Cartersville, GA that were tied to the Smithsonian? Booth Western Art Museum Savoy Car Museum Tellus Science Museum All this 30 minutes away from your uncles bus company in Rome, GA.
im hopefully going to upgrading to a diesel pickup, waiting to hear what the axle gear ratio is before i go for it. time to put less wear and tear on my half ton
Are you sure your trailer is 11k lbs? Mine is 34' and is only 7500lbs GVWR. Not that it matters, just caught my attention when you said it. Great video, thanks for the content!
We’re 35.5 and reflections are heavier to start with , but we have added a lot of stuff… full solar setup, auto level, upgraded suspension, disk brakes , and renovated the interior. We’re also full time so we carry a lot of crap🫣😂
Cory, you look like me. A V-8 duel exhaust kid of guy. Have had those my whole life. Now I have a '23 Hybrid Tundra V-6 Twin Turbo. 437 HP, way more than my old V-8 F-150. Changing times. Be 4 drones we had radio control aircraft a friend of mine purchased one it was a gas helicopter he had to assemble it which he did and was very proud of it how ever it was short lived as he thought it wood be a good idea to start it up in his lounge witch he did with the rotor blades attached so it started and took of straight into the lounge ceiling bring the ceiling down and the light fittings shorting out house electrics smashed the TV and wrecked the sofa and spill it fuel everywhere 😢 not happy
That was funny when Lily was talking and videoing Corey while he drove the truck! The boxes all made it to the post office but how many packages were lost enroute?
A family in our neighborhood has one. The exterior is not the best. Rivian has trucks that look like our current trucks do. Not sure if performance is any better
Fun video guys. Personally, I wouldn't have a Cybertruck. It doesn't match my needs (range) and I don't care for the design or the stainless exterior. Reminds me of my frdige and it's enough of a chore keeping that looking good. Given your zeal to keep your white GMC clean, I think keeping this truck clean would drive you crazy 🤣 As you suggested, you'd have to get it wrapped.
We were in Spanish Trail RV park in Moab, UT and I crashed my Mavic 3 into a power line! Stupid part was I saw the lines and thought I was above the highest line. I hit the line and it broke the camera mount so the camera was hanging underneath the front of the drone. The drone carried on flying so I brought it back to land. DJI was terrific with their service. They replaced the drone and I got the new one in a week.
I have never been an Electric vehicle person. But I was really impressed with Cyber truck. I work at a Freightliner shop and they are working with Electric trucks now. Great video stay safe and most of all live life to the fullest and have fun.
What drone do you have? I got a cheap one to practice with and I’ve crashed it into trees. 😂😂. Would like to upgrade it though and film while we’re camping. I’ll just keep practicing with the cheap one.
Its a cool concept.. But not for real world application, I don't think it can match up to a diesel. Yes, around town for short hauls maybe. One thing you didn't mention, How long will it take to charge it? I hear it takes a long time to charge.
I have seen extensive reviews on this electric "tuna can" and must admit that it is quite versatile. My only complaint is the same as yours. Who wants to take that long a break to recharge when you have a travel day and 600 miles to cover?
I wanna find someone trying to charge the CT at a charge station while towing something. No one has done that yet that I've seen. Are there pull thru changing stations?🧐
We'll stick to our diesel truck! I'd hate to have to charge the truck cintinously to get to your final destination. Do you know what the cost is to replace the battery in that truck....just curious. After reading on the internet, I believe the replacement cost is some where between $4,000 - $30,000 depending on the size, make, and model of the truck. It's a nice truck but not practical for a farmer/rancher who camps on his/her free time.
The guys over at TFL trucks did a world toughest tow test with a. Cyber truck. Cyber isn't what it needs to be and after some research. We need to push for a hydrogen powered truck. Better power, torque, mileage and the only thing that comes out the tailpipe is water. But that probably never gonna happen with consumer truck. Big rigs maybe.
There’s nothing like a brand new truck, the real test is in 3, 5 and 10 years that’s when the hype and cameras are gone and you need the truck to work.
I know you are looking for reasons for it to fail but let me tell you as a long Tesla owner my friend. These will still be on the road with original hardware in 10+ years mark my words. I own a Cybertruck, the batteries sure they slowly die but keep in mind there are thousands of batteries in each Tesla so perhaps I will lose range as time goes on but my truck will still work, let’s not forget Tesla will be selling an extended range battery that goes in the flat bed so that will give about another 150 miles of range. I am keeping my Cybertruck forever and if I need new batteries down the road then so be it!
TFL did a comparison with a cyber truck towing a heavy travel trailer against a diesel towing the same. Cyber truck 78 miles before dead and $35 to recharge. The diesel could triple the range and cost $27 to fill up.
I dont hate the cybertruck, but they're ugly (all the teslas are imo) I crashed my drone on our first trip into a creek. The kids retrieved it, let it dry out, and its still working.
To be able to use an EV truck with an RV, the RV would need regenerative braking that would swnd the energy back to the truck. Then your range might be usable.
Interesting, and I really do think Elon Musk must have watched the Jetsons too. While watching this video I couldn't stop thinking about the survivability rate of this electric vehicle/truck in an accident - that's a lot of glass!
Yes electric trucks are just not ready for towing. Also currently in most cases your would have to disconnecvt your trailer to be able to charge.

It will be, just not at the moment.
just wondering if ..when towing a trailer with solar is there a way to "back feed " power back into the truck ??
Can it be charged with the generator you use for an RV?
I LOVE it...cant wait till they aere built for long distance on charge...it is the future!!!!
😂😂😂😂😂
I want to drive one!
If you let off the accelerator, and that simulates braking, does that actuate the brake lights on the trailer, or are you slowing down, without giving drivers behind you any indication?
Yes the lights aluminate just like actually hitting the brakes, I had the same question!
Did you know their were 3 museum's in Cartersville, GA that were tied to the Smithsonian?
Booth Western Art Museum
Savoy Car Museum
Tellus Science Museum
All this 30 minutes away from your uncles bus company in Rome, GA.
so you gonna detach the trailer at every charging site?
Did I miss it in the video, how far did you go and what was the mileage towing your RV?
im hopefully going to upgrading to a diesel pickup, waiting to hear what the axle gear ratio is before i go for it. time to put less wear and tear on my half ton
Luckily, I have never crashed my mini three. I thought for sure that your drone was done. Thanks for the video.
So if you need a charge do you have to unhitch the trailer?
Depends on the charging location but probably.
On your travel you should stop in Utica illinois and go to starved Rock state park
Blue Angles, Rome, GA . OCT. 18 & 19th. ROME, GA BE THERE OR BE SQUARE !!! So says the 1970's slang. Boy, that was bad.
Cory, you look like me. A V-8 duel exhaust kid of guy. Have had those my whole life. Now I have a '23 Hybrid Tundra V-6 Twin Turbo. 437 HP, way more than my old V-8 F-150. Changing times.
Miss the sound of my old V-8 duel exhaust. Will miss people driving their own cars. Self driving cars, what happens when the GPS goes out because of clouds. You get driven into a tree or back of a semi. Will never trust them. I am waiting for but will never see. BEAM ME UP SCOTTY, ENERGIZE !!!!!!!!!
Y'all are like "The Jetsons go camping!"
Ugliest vehicle ever built.
AMC Pacer was ugly also
He's not wrong. ^^^ LOL
The Pontiac Aztek still wins that award 😂
Cybertruck looks like some group bought so sheet metal and said “let’s build truck sort of thing”.
Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder!
Pretty cool! Don’t hate it.
Great video. It’s the future for sure as range increases. So fun to drive
How about finding charging stations? Your trailer weights less 11,000lbs?
Corey looked like a kid in a candy store. Fun and interesting to watch.
That was funny when Lily was talking and videoing Corey while he drove the truck! The boxes all made it to the post office but how many packages were lost enroute?
All packages arrived, Jess and I did loose one package and had to turn around though🫣
I wondered about that too. Lots of loose cardboard flaps on the back of that "truck." :)
That was very interesting. I think it would certainly fail on the road because of the battery and the time to charge. It is ugly too...
COREY MICHAEL!!!!!! LOL Looks good.
Is this your new tow truck?
What drone do you have? I got a cheap one to practice with and I’ve crashed it into trees. 😂😂. Would like to upgrade it though and film while we’re camping. I’ll just keep practicing with the cheap one.
I currently have a DJI Air2S , I almost upgraded to the Air3 , but somehow the thing righted its self mid air 😜
Well, I’m looking at the Air3 online and it has obstacle sensing. 🤣🤣
Did you tow with AC on or Off? Why no highway travel at highway speeds.
Hello The Hanks sent me 🎉
@@KimHenderson-NC we are so happy to have you! The Hanks are the best!☺️
Its a cool concept.. But not for real world application, I don't think it can match up to a diesel. Yes, around town for short hauls maybe. One thing you didn't mention, How long will it take to charge it? I hear it takes a long time to charge.
We are on the Oregon coast and saw a cyber truck towing an airstream. We didn't get a picture. They were pulled over and we couldn't stop.
I have seen extensive reviews on this electric "tuna can" and must admit that it is quite versatile. My only complaint is the same as yours. Who wants to take that long a break to recharge when you have a travel day and 600 miles to cover?
Your girls look like there in so much space and so relaxed in the back seat.
I wanna find someone trying to charge the CT at a charge station while towing something. No one has done that yet that I've seen. Are there pull thru changing stations?🧐
We've seen one in High Springs FL area twice now same area.
It’s a big battery pack on this , probably close to that 30k number 😳
Can u put a fifth wheel hitch init?
@ cope… see you in 5 years.
TFL did a comparison with a cyber truck towing a heavy travel trailer against a diesel towing the same. Cyber truck 78 miles before dead and $35 to recharge. The diesel could triple the range and cost $27 to fill up.
Why are you tilting your head down to look out? Does seat go lower?
Simgle pedal mode is dangerous for first timers. You can set it to use the normal gas pedal go and brake pedal stop functions for forst timers.
Diesel electric would be the way to go. Engine runs at its peak efficiency point and instant torque of electric. Seems to work well for locomotives.
Stelantis is using the 3.6L V6, easier and cheaper to keep it updated for US emissions laws.
Dodge is going to build one with a gas engine.
How was backing up with the trailer?
I dont hate the cybertruck, but they're ugly (all the teslas are imo)
I crashed my drone on our first trip into a creek. The kids retrieved it, let it dry out, and its still working.
I watched the bumper come off of these very easily on Whistle'n Diesel
@@tytrammell23 it came off, but I don’t think it came off easy 😂
It’s a good vehicle going back and forth to the post office for deliveries but towing it’s terrible!
Thank you for sharing your adventure! The truck seems very cool. 🖖🏻👍🏻😘🙏🏻
Hello, the Hanks sent us! :) Subscribed and will check out your channel. All the best to your family. Be safe out there.
