We've had our IKEA wardrobes for about 11 years now, they are holding up really well, and have no obvious signs of wear. Yours look amazing, I've seen custom units that don't look as good as yours. Love the wallpaper idea too.💕
This install turned out beautiful. The flooring is just to die for. As for the clothes (I have a sneaking suspicion you cheated - - YOU have way more clothes than that!! Where'd you hide them?) lol.

I couldn’t live without my big radial arm compound miter saw, bench saw, and pneumatic nailguns (and compressor). I wish I had spent the extra $250 and got the bench for the miter saw, but I did invest in the rolling bench-mounted table saw, well worth it.

Oh my goodness both my husband and I saw that same blog post a few months back, and said that when we move into our home, that we would do this exact thing to the closet because outside contractors were super expensive! We can't wait. Closet is gorgeous 😍 💖 Thank You for sharing ❤ 💕

I’m first one to comment, it’s so lovely. I’m not an IKEA person, except for their organisers, my husband always says he is not putting ikea to our house, this has a nice finish though. I got my wardrobe, kids and study made all custom about few months ago when we moved to our new house. It’s worth every single dollar and I think it adds value to the house. I really like your colour coordination of clothes. 🤗💕
My husband refuse to buy IKEa because he thinks the wood is so bad. We just had ours redone to the way I wanted it. Still trying to organize my stuff. But it has made all the difference and all I had to do was to buy the wood and paint etc. My husband made it all including the drawers, took about a month but it's gorgeous. I am so glad we decided to get it done. But Dan did an amazing job and it's the little touches of the trims and the lights and rails that makes it look so good and well made.

I live in Switzerland and I was thinking to get my wardrobe from Italy since it’s cheaper than here, but if I can achieve something similar to this from ikea it has literally changed my mind
Amazing job from Dan, everything looks so good both the wardrobe and the floor. DIY is always a good ideea and so rewarding, but you need to have practical skills and also specific tools.

My hubby and I have talked about some of the things we want to do to our house and this is one of them, I also want him to add some shelving and drawers to my office which would be similar to this and I think when the time is right I'll make him watch this video so he can see how the molding adds so much. Looks beautiful! He already has tons of tools since he's been replacing our carpet with wood flooring so I'm sure he can do this too. I like how you spray painted the hardware to make it look different from just the plain versions.

Dan's a keeper! It looks amazing! In some ways better than the known wardrobe brands that cost a fortune but is easily identifiable in people's homes so can lack originality. There's also the added satisfaction in knowing your hubby and mummy set you up! Nice one
It looks fantastic! I actually just finished my own IKEA Pax closet installation but without any customizations. I may add a few items like the handles and painting the bars though. One question I had: I understand most of Dan's customizations except for the drawers "fronts." The IKEA drawers already come with either opaque solid fronts or glass. I can't tell what he did on the front of them to "customize."They look exactly like my solid ones. Thanks!
He cut strips of wood and attached them to the front - just to minimise the gaps between the drawers that IKEA drawers usually have. Totally not necessary to do, just personal preference :)

No I'm keeping the other wall bare. We're having a whole wall of wardrobes built in our bedroom and Dan will only be able to fill up a quarter of the space there so I'll use some of that too. Will probably do a seasonal switch :)
A quick tip for anyone considering installing a pax wardrobe they are planning to take when they move house: Consider getting all 50cm wide units. Why? They are much sturdier as the back is only one piece, they're lighter, they're smaller so easier to handle/move, the hanging rails are sturdier and the drawers are much easier to handle.
