  • It's hard to believe this clip is over 42 years old.
'Israel' was written by the band while on tour in the autumn of 1980 as their idea of a Christmas single This live performance of the song comes from the BBC programme 'Something Else' and was originally transmitted on December 15th of that year.
For this remaster, I've upscaled the picture to HD and given the original audio a bit more bass emphasis.
    I hope you like it.

Did you see that 80s movie The Delta Force with where Palestinian Terrorists take an airplane full of civilians hostage and Chuck Norris and his team has to rescue them?
Its a great film and its got a very cool soundtrack by Alan Silvestri.

Effin Chills! Juju album was my jam in 6th grade. The previous summer I was taken under the wing of my new eccentric nextdoor neighbor. He was very different than anyone my age. A loner outcast freak w/ an older amazing punk alternative vinyl record collection. He was 14 but we just “clicked” (and bonus super gay) so my mom allowed me to hang out with him all summer.
I was his little sis/sidekick. That summer I cut off my long hair begged my sister to take me to melrose for some doc martens. I put spikes and chains on them and proudly wore them to school with a sex pistols shirt and plaid bondage pants. The teacher called me twinkle toes and mocked my “extreme summer” transformation. I got sent home for that shirt, and for arguing (talking back) with the principal and making the valid argument that the if the surfer boys were allowed to wear their “sex wax” shirts, why was I singled out?
My parents were separated so my mom allowed me a great degree of space and freedom to be myself. We were best friends for 4 years until he moved away at 18. I was devastated but entering highschool and finding my alternative clique. Funny but the same jerkoff bullies who made fun of me in 6th grade and junior high were now 4 years on, a bunch of poseurs, mods and punks wearing suddenly all black, driving vespas and sporting trenchcoats. Driving around with Depeche Mode and Siouxsie stickers on their cars. Urgh!
I was never the same after Ray he profoundly influenced and opened my eyes to a world larger than my sleepy LA suburb. All the countless hours we spent laying on the floor of his room laughing, and listening to Souxsie on vinyl, black light on, smoking weed splitting one of his mother’s nerve pills, (valium) lol sipping a wine cooler trying to decode lyrics. Good times! I will always love you Ray. Sorry we didn’t meet up b4 you died. I had tracked him down in 2007 to - small town in the midwest and we talked on the phone for hours. I had just made plans to come see him but sadly he died b4 I could make it. Grrr life!
