"Positive vibes" is RM and BTS in nutshell.
For those new to RM:
RM is a South Korean rapper born 1994 (30 years old) and he's currently doing his mandatory military service and will be back in June 2025.
RM started his military service in December 2023 everything that has come out after that was recorded before he enlisted and just released later.
RM's latest album, released in May 2024, a few months after he left, is called *'Right Place, Wrong Person'.*
If you wanna check out more from RM he released MV's to the songs 'Nuts', 'Domodachi' (feat. Little Simz), 'Groin', 'Lost' and 'Come back to me' off his latest album.
The whole album is great and worth a listen. Moses Sumney is also a feature on one track.
The album was recognized as one of the best albums of the first half of the year 2024 by Rolling Stone, Billboard, The Associated Press, and NME.
Billboard wrote _"RM simply refuses to acknowledge the existence of any such boundaries over these 34 minutes, with 11 songs that careen from hip-hop to jazz to punk to R&B to Fela Kuti-styled Afrobeats - while all still sounding like a coherent and natural artistic extension of one man's creative vision"._
He also has two previous mixtapes *'RM'* released 2015 and *'Mono'* released in 2018 and another solo album called *'Indigo'* released in 2022 where he had features like Anderson Paak and Erykah Badu.
He's recorded with Warren G, Wale, Juice WRLD, Tablo of Epik High, Megan Thee Stallion, Tiger JK and Fall Out Boy, just to name a few.
RM is a great songwriter so remember to *turn on the CC for English subtitles* when you check out his other work because he often switches between English and Korean.
His name is Kim Namjoon also often called Joon.
He went by the stage name Rap Monster before but now just RM.
He started out as an underground rapper when he was 13, was signed to Big Hit in 2010 and is the leader of the 7 member group BTS since their debut in 2013.
He is BTS main songwriter* and writes for other artists too and has credits as songwriter on over 200 tracks.
He has an IQ of 148, is really into art and poetry and reads a lot which shows in his lyricism.
*(all BTS member are involved in writing and producing their music and all 7 (3 rappers & 4 vocalists) have released their own solo projects as singles, mixtapes and albums. Their names are Jin, SUGA/Agust D, j-hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook.).
BTS will be back working as a group in 2025 when all members have been discharged from the military.
As of yet only Jin have finished his service and j-hope will be discharged next month (October 17th 2024), the other 5 enlisted later and will be discharged in June 2025.
BTS fanbase is called ARMY.
Not sure anyone's mentioned this but ill do it anyway: 1. MEGAN 2 years back had an issue with her label and they would not let her perform/collab with who she wants and had lot of issues with her label including money matter. Megan filed a lawsuit agaist her label. One of the reaso is her label didn't want her to work with BTS THE BIGGEST BOYGROUP. BTS's label supported her and ensured as artist she git wat she wanted. And ofcurs they gave her a Collab on their then No.1 hit BUTTER. BTS usually does collab swap deals with artists alot, and in returnto BUTTER collab NEVA PLAY was a return collab swap. RM is the leader of BTS and he was a underground rapper before he became an artist under bighit/HYBE label

2 of the members came from underground rappers (RM and Suga) and 1 from hip hop street dancer (j-hope).

So to answer some of your questions... RM has been rapping since he was 13, and he just turned 30 yesterday.
He was an underground rapper and in 2010 he joined Bighit ent. Inspired by RMs talents, the ceo formed the idea for BTS.
If you want to check out more RM try anything from his recent album Right Place Wrong Person.
Many of the BTS members are Hiphop heads. RM used to make playlists and make the 6 other team members listen to og artists and the golden era of hiphop.
So, see if their music gives you nostalgia of different eras of the genre.

RM is incredibly versatile, he started rapping underground in Seoul around the age of 13 and was signed by his label by the age of 16 - he was low-key famous/known in South Korea as a rapper before he debuted with BTS. Ahh it's so fun seeing you get into this song, it's one of my favourites. I remember Wale shouted out RM on a freestyle after hearing his first mixtape (which is a banger!) and predicted he was going to become huge, which was very prophetic because back then BTS was not well known in the US at all, but a year or so later they started breaking through.
If you wanna react to more RM and you're up for a challenge I HIGHLY recommend his latest album Right Place Wrong Person. Yeah, I said the whole album, because this is an album that really needs to be experienced from start to finish! But if you're not ready for that you can start with the live video for 'Nuts' to give you an idea.
For BTS as a group it's important to know they work in a very wide range of genres, from hip hop to R&B, alternative rock sounds, soulful jazzy sounds, emotional ballads, club bangers, all the way to boyband-style pop. Some songs are just for fun, others have deep lyrics. And they have about 400+ songs between them so... what I'm saying is, don't be too quick to judge, if one song isn't for you another one will be!
Since you're hip hop fans I recommend the songs UGH and Outro Tear, with just the 3 rappers. Those both have great live performances too. Or for a throwback try Hip Hop Lover from 2014, which is about some of their early influences.

Some background info since you were curious:
RM started rapping when he was 13 in the Korean underground scene (he was like a child prodigy, used to tell his parents he was going to study then sneak off to the club lol) and he just turned 30 so he's had a long career already! He got scouted by his label Big Hit when he was about 16, they thought he was super talented and wanted to build a group around him, so that's how BTS got started. It was originally going to be a rap group but they realised that, coming from South Korea, if they were ever going to get world famous then kpop was honestly the only way, so they added singers and dancers and shifted direction.
Even so kpop was not very successful back then, no kpop artist had ever broken through in the West, and Big Hit was a small label with no money, so it was an incredibly long shot... anyway (very) long story short, they worked their asses off, made good music, and gradually got more and more fans until over the course of 10 years they went from all sharing one bedroom to getting no.1s on billboard and grammy nominations. They were the first artists from Asia to get anywhere near that level.
Along the way all the members of BTS have solo careers on the side, and they're very supportive of each other. They're currently serving mandatory military service (all South Korean men have to) but they'll be reuniting in 2025.

It’s okay that you guys didn’t know a lot abt him. He is a real rapper, he has been rapping, writing and producing on his own since he was 13-14 years old when he discovered hiphop music. He used to look up Korean translations for the songs he liked and print them out. He speaks 3 languages (raps in all 3 as well) and has a 148 IQ. He says his biggest artistic influence and his muse is Nas. He just turned 30 now and credited in 229 songs, he is the main writer for BTS.
In this song RM and Wale talk abt things in their countries that need Change, Wale ofc mentions the issue of racism in the criminal justice system and how ppl talk a lot but then never show up to vote for change (this was right after the 2016 election), and RM mentions how schools in SK are a big source of the declining mental health of younger generations in the country, leading to the highest sui-- rate in the world among teenagers.

About a year after they debuted BTS got sent to LA to train, and some OG rappers like Wale, Warren G and Coolio ended up taking BTS under their wing and mentoring them. So if it looks like RM and Wale are comfortable together and have known each other for a long time that’s why.
RM is not the only rapper in BTS. Wait until you hear from Suga and Jhope. There are 3 rappers in the group out of the 7 members. RM is the leader of the group, he and Suga are the main rappers who came from under ground scene. Then with their 3rd rapper being the main dancer of the group, having hip hop influences, he was naturally able to learn and become the 3rd rapper.
You'll be amazed on how talented this group is and how many American artists that they have collaborated and worked with to date. A few names of course is Meg Stallion, Nicki Minaj, Halsey, Wale, Juice World, Lil Nas X, Max, Ed Sheeran, Anderson Pak, Erikah Badu, Charlie Puth, Usher, Cold Play, Shawn Mendez, Justin Timberlake, Latto, Jack Harlow, Central Cee, Warren G, Snoop Dog, Benny Blanco, Becky G, J Cole, Lauv, Steve Aoki and so many more.
The group has been together since 2013 however i think they are just getting noticed recently due to their recent imapct in the American music industry. They have surpassed the Korean music industry and knowingly had wanted to reach outside that market. All known and loved all.around the world, they have been recently receiving more awards and acknowledgement outside of Korea. All 7 members are on hiatus due to the mandatory military enlistment in Korea. The first member just got out a few months ago. A second member will be released in a month and the rest of the other 5 memebers will join them before late of 2025.

Great reaction guys, I'm 60 and have been lovin BTS since Dec 2017 due to my daughters in their late 20s now haha, showing me one of their songs Mic Drop Steve Aoki Remix. RM was the first one I was drawn too due to his rapping style and deep voice. As I am into the genre of RnB, hip hop and rap music of the 80s and 90s, BTS bring me back to those days!! They play homage to the greats in their music quite often. They know HIP HOP very well. The RAP Line as we call them RM, SUGA (Aka AGUSTD) and J-HOPE have great collabs, you should check them out!! But first try their Cyphers 1, 2, 3, 4. No MV's only Lyric Videos or even better watching the LIVE vids. My favourite RAPLINE LIVE songs are UGH, OUTRO TEAR, CYPHER MEDLEY! The VOCAL line is JIN, JIMIN, V and JUNGKOOK (JK). JIN is the only one out of Military Service and the oldest member, the other members will be out June 2025. BTS debuted June 2013 so they have been in the music industry over 11 years. With well over 300 songs, they consist of composers, song writers, and producers and extremely amazing choreography!! They can take you on a journey with their albums that remind me of MJ's albums. They have many different genres in music and they have helped so many including myself through their music and lyrics. Depending on the style of music you like try there! Don't forget as they sing in Korean, Japanese and english in their songs the CC's will be needed. They do have some full english songs that helped get us through covid time and they have Solo albums out as well. Before joining BTS he was famous under ground rapper in their community with the name "Runch Randa" while suga a.k.a agustd was also an under ground rapper before BTS at the age of 13 too, going against his parents approval, he was famous with the name "gloss" BTS has 3 rapper which is rap line, the last member is jhope he wasn't a rapper at first but he was a OG pro dancer since 6 and won numerous awards even the national award in 2008,jhope was taught how to rap by suga and rap in the dorm, and now my man can be seen as an og in rap too he is that good even at rm and suga level now, fun fact: when it comes to flow he is the most versatile among three of them, despite suga being the main producer in BTS, rm and jhope also do produce too(they all write their stuff), if you wanna know all the hype about jhope then react to his album called "jack in the box" he worked on everything from a-z (I just felt he is often looked down on just because he wasn't a former under ground rapper, he is too underrated)💜

Ummm....no one on this earth speaks a foreign language with an American accent unless they learned it young by either living in the US or learning it at a young age from someone who is American. It takes WORK either way. RM's six bandmates are learning English, too, but most of them learned once they were adults so their accents are heavier, albeit to different degrees. JK has the best accent after RM - because he learned English as a teenager. There are a LOT of Koreans who speak English with a heavy accent, because most don't get the opportunity to live in the US before they turn 18 (when language acquisition becomes harder for any human being, especially without an accent).
True, it is not common for Korean to speak English as fluent as him especially with no accent unless they live/study abroad before.

You should listen to "joke" from his first mixtape or "Seoul" from his second. More recently he dropped 2 álbuns: Indigo and RPWP. From indigo there is a feat with Erika baduh (yun) and with Andersson Paak (still life) that you may wanna try. From RPWP u should check "nuts" and "groin" - Just do it lol :)
BTS have 3 rappers so u should def listen to them too. My recommendation would be the cyphers (they made 4 of them), tear, ugh and ddaeng.

Thank you for another respectful reaction of BTS/ RM. Another BTS rapper, J-Hope, did a song On the Street, featuring J. Cole. He loved J. Cole since he was a kid and paid homage to him by giving him most of the bars even though he was only a feature, and J-Hope danced in the video over J. Cole rapping, as an homage to his beginning as a street dancer.
BTS have also done songs w/ Juice Wrld (All Night with BTS rappers Suga and RM, and Suga rapped on Juice Wrld's post humous album).
