I don’t ever buy fast food. I do not turn on the A/C or heat my home unless it’s necessary, I use my cc not debit and pay the statement balance and always earn cash reward . I have to yet to pay interest I enjoy the savings . I have learned to live happily with my low income and I actually go to the food pantry weekly in which I get all the foods needed. I eat according to what I get from there . 😀😌👍🏼
I also do all you mentioned : )

If I have leftover coffee after making a pot, I pour it into another container and refrigerate it. Then the next day I hear what I need in my microwave. Or I make an iced coffee.

Two food items to mention. When hummus is on a serious sale, buy as many as you can. Throw the container in the freezer. It freezes and defrosts perfectly.
The way to save greens like spinach is to take a lidded container, put a paper towel in, add some greens (about 1/3 what you have), layer another paper towel, add more greens, repeat, and end with a paper towel. Make sure your greens are dry. Snap on the lid and refrigerate. If you see any towel getting a little damp, replace it with a dry one. I’ve had spinach in my fridge for at least three weeks. It’s still as fresh (not slimy…eewww) as when I got it.

Living on social security is sometimes a challenge but I manage to live comfortably by living frugally, it's almost a game to me to see where I can find the best deal on something I need.
I usually only buy sale or markdown items at the grocery store and if there are great sales I will stock up on things and I can food in jars to be shelf stable, that way nothing gets wasted because it got freezer burnt or went bad and had to be thrown out. I don't meal plan, I cook with what I have on hand, many times it is a soup or stew of some kind that will feed me for a couple of days.
I don't have a TV, I use youtube as a place to learn new things and be entertained for free. My internet costs less than satellite tv.
My apartment building has a small library so I have free books to read without buying or leaving home.
My wardrobe is simple and practical, I am retired so I rarely buy new clothes and then they need to be on sale, and sometimes I can even find them at thrift stores.
I check thrift stores, yard sales and facebook marketplace for free or cheap things I need before I buy new. Just bought a sewing machine on Ebay for half the price of a new 'cheap one' from Walmart.
Knowing how to sew has saved me tons of money, especially when I lost 70 pounds. I was able to alter my existing clothes instead of having to buy new ones.
I made cloth napkins from fabric scraps, I have old washcloths that I use for rags and I invested in reusable and washable pads for possible leakages. I wish I had done years ago. Less throw away paper products to buy!
I water down liquid soap, shampoo, and laundry detergent by half with water and they still work just fine!
All my furniture was free or very cheap second hand and a few pieces are even antiques.

    1. I go shopping early sat or Sunday morning to get on sale and mark down meats
    2. Plan my shopping trips based on sales and coupons for products I use ONLY
    3. Meal prep based on what I could find on sale
    4. Make from scratch as much as possible (I don’t buy store bought bread anymore) it’s not hard to make at all
    5. Zero wasted food! Turn leftover into a whole new meal
    6. Wear extra layers in the house to keep heat down
    7. find ways to reuse containers that you get with products from the store … example save plastic tubs to send leftovers with people on the holidays … buy spaghetti sauce that comes in mason jars (I can so I get the sauce and a jar)
    8. Learn to can and dehydrate not only for your own garden but great deals you find at the store … if I can get a bunch of marked down ground beef I’ll bring it home and can it
    9. Shop what’s in season it’s usually cheaper and you can grow fresh herbs all year in a sunny window !
    My 9 tips 🤣😂🤣
Bonus: make sure you store foods properly to retain maximum nutrients and avoid spoilage otherwise you’ve lost money not saved it 😉

To prevent freezer burn, wrap individual pieces of meat (chicken, salmon, pork chops) tightly in cling wrap. Place about five or six “packets” in a freezer bag. Roll from bottom to opening to remove as much air as possible. Close, mark date and content, and freeze. We’ve been using chicken from over a year ago, and it tastes fine.

One tip I use, maybe not daily, but anytime I can, is to bargain, really with anything, within local community, and to take advantage of what is marked as discounted at the end of the day in the stores.
Yours are nice advices-I like the first one actually a lot. I like to treat myself to a good tea/coffee with friends, but mostly do it on my own at home.

I stopped drinking coffee (used to have at least five a day), walk everywhere or use public transportation, don't buy clothes anymore until they get consumed, don't buy cosmetics and only use natural oils and products for skincare for the whole family. Further, I am doing intermittent fasting and don't eat for two days a week and twenty hours a day, cooking every day for my family, buying mainly from farmers and very little at the supermarket, threw out sugar from our consumption and prepare all the food in a healthy way, no more juices, sweets, sodas. We keep the heating off and recently I have started doing cold showers which has made my body flourish. I go shopping in a planned way and only on weekends when I clean the house and put on the washing machine. Used to go to restaurants a lot, but now we cook at home, and I plan exact portions so that no leftovers are left. We watch concerts and theater plays online and read many books during the year through library or ebook. We are much more healthy, lean and fit than ever before and saved a lot of money in this way. Thank you for all your great advice! Merry Christmas to you and your family

Sometimes I just leave a book, but every now and then, I find a gem to read that someone has added to the tiny libraries on their block. I've even been known to listen to a book and make the rounds of our neighborhood for an hour or so just to check out a bunch of the homemade kiosks.

I do one scoop of grounds for pot of coffee & add some instant coffee as well as sprinkle of Himalayan salt as it’s stronger cofee. Then I’ll just add another scoop of grounds when I want another pot of cofee. Next day repeat.

I was gifted a coffeemaker a few years ago but found I was simply drinking too much so it didn't go to waste. Also I live in an apartment so did not have a garden to make use of the grounds - so they went into the trash. I finally gave it away and went back to Instant. I have found the Dollar Tree Instant Coffee 2.82 @ $1.25 works best for me. I usually go through 1.5 -2 jars a month and with my soy milk and vanilla / or cinnamon added it comes out to less than $.06 / cup. Right now I am adding hot cocoa mix to it and get 6 cups to one hot cocoa package. SO, that is how I do coffee on a budget. Been a long time since I have gone out for coffee

A few of the inside tips from the Lifestyle of The Frugal!!!
•We use an old time Corning Ware coffee percolator and brew our coffee that way.
•Drying racks for most laundry. (Except bedding and dish towels/cloths)
•Sunday dinners here for the gang rather than eating out after church. (Food too pricey and not as good and service subpar eating out)
    •water for all meals
•When soap bars become too small, we save them, melt down and put in silicone molds to stretch further.

Re checking your bank balance frequently, check washing is rampant now. My bank caught an $18 check which was washed and rewritten to show $8,800. The other check I mailed that day was to pay for my auto insurance. I found out when I got a notice cancelling my insurance. Needless to say, I either do online banking, hand the person a check, or send a bank cheque (which is not connected to your accounts). No more mailing checks.

volunteering at a food bank a fellow volunteer remarked how she grew up on pinto beans. She cooked them from the dry state and the enormous amount of ways they can be eaten: chili, refried bean dip, rolled up in a tortilla with egg and potato, sprinkled in a salad, cooked in a soup using produce before it goes bad, in lettuce roll-ups. Interesting note: many of her friends would come home from school with her because there was always something to eat at her house.

When get old many Medicare plans include free gym membership. Being frugal is something I have always done as a child. Then in 20s I went off the rails. In my 30s I regained my frugal muscle. Where I live we have a Bookmobile that comes weekly. We can order books we want and they bring them 2 miles from my house. I am an avid reader. I like to be home. After working for 40 years 2-3 jobs being home is a treat. Being retired is not too bad. As far as food I make soups that are very reasonably priced and freeze enough for at least 6+ meals at less than $1 each. I like to make bread in bread machine at less than 50 cents per loaf. Hands unable to knead anymore. My house is cool in winter. I use no fans or a/c in summer using natural breeze outdoors for cooling. I live in Southern USA.
