We Have to Boil Drinking Water Now | Morning Brew with Phil Moorhouse

  • Some in the South West of England have been advised to boil all their water before use because of waterborne diseases being identified. The callous disregard for duty from our privatised water companies means that we not only have raw sewage in our waterways, but it's now in taps as well.
The quality of our drinking water used to be very high, now it's becoming deadly. We're being taken back to medieval times.

Privatisation is definitely to blame in the sense that they’re dumping raw sewage to maximise profits. But that’s only part of the story, the main culprit is Brexit!
When UK water companies had to follow EU legislation they didn’t routinely dump raw sewage, it was only allowed in extreme circumstances. Now it’s standard practice.

It's disappointing that Labour appears not to wish to re-nationalize Water. If they had the political WILL to do so, it would be easy enough for a Labour Government to enforce PROPER regulations on the Water industry, and when a Water Company fails the criteria set by government, these can be taken back into Public ownership without the need to compensate the shareholders.

    • @ffotograffydd

It’s already nationalised in Scotland and run as a not for profit in Wales. This is an England problem.
