My Dad was born in Dunfermline in January, 1892 - his mother, whom I never knew lived there after moving from the Isle of Aran and married my Grandfather there.
I trained as a Midwife there in 1957 - 78 when the Maternity Hospital was based at Izatt Avenue. Dr Gillie, a very kind and considerate man, was the Chief Consultant Obstetrician. I left as a Staff Midwife in January 1960.
I liked Dunfermline - it’s status at that time was a town - it deserves the status of city now considering it’s importance to Scottish history.

Dunfermline has expanded greatly over the last few years coinciding with the development of the Queensferry Crossing. Lots of incoming new residents. I agree with your comment on it’s importance in history.

Thanks. I think Dunfermline has really expanded more than anywhere else in Scotland over the last few years.

I've been to Dunfermline. It's a lovely place to explore. The only part that I've not been able to visit is St Margaret's Cave, as it is currently closed to the public.
