Nick my rust buster was yesterday. (Freshman in HS btw) Yet I still ran the slowest time of my life, including middle school. I’ve been training harder than ever and feeling great. I ran a 19:12, when I was shooting for AT LEAST sub 17!😭
one race at a time! allow yourself to move on from the disappointment. next race try to break 19, & then 18:30, & then 18 etc. it will come! respect the process

Hey Nick I train pretty hard (even in the off-season) and ran a 11:48 2 mile but for some reason I can’t break 20 minutes in the 5k. What’s the secret or mental attitude I need?
I just got the sub 20 5k last year, try not to run an 11:48 thru ur first two 5k miles try and hit ab 12:45 or so that way you can have an even finish w some added time if u slow down

Hey nick, I know you're more of a middle distance runner, but I'd imagine you have some knowledge on sprinting, and I was wondering what type of workouts I'd be wanting to do if i'm trying to work on my starts and just sprints in general.
hey nick, i have a problem i live in salem oregon and the smoke is the worst it has ever been its the worst in the usa right now i run for stc salem track club, i started practice last week and then the smoke came. i doesnt look like its going away anytime soon and i was wondoring what to do? i cant run outside and i dont have a treadmill and i need to stay in shape!
Growing up in Spokane the farmers burned the fields ever fall. You can use a bandana/mask to filter some, but ultimately need to grit it out. At least the competition has the same conditions to deal with.
take the time off to strengthen! Do squats and all the little stretching and conditioning without running. I got the strongest and fastest after months of easy aerobic running and more importantly strengthening all my weak points. Doing calf raises, squats, pushups all helps!

20:20 this explains me with my running i started out with a 26 minute 5k and shaved off 6 minutes in 3 months
5k is a useless race unless you can bang out 4-5 minutes miles consecutively. I just do mile repeats, and track work

Run as evenly as possible. stick with someone going sub 20 and don’t fall off. It’s all mental breaking a barrier
