    Thanks a lot for sharing the technique of the rolling tongue. After your lesson I noticed that this the signature growl of Jr. Walker. I really enjoy your channel. Cheers

    You have very useful videos. I've seen several of them and I found all of them very clear. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!! I would like to know if it would be possible to make a video explaining the kind noises and effects in the style of Pharoah Sanders. That would be great!

    Amazing player. Can I ask for some advice please, been playing tenor sax on a yana t901 for about a year on the stock mouthpiece, I was thinking of upgrading to an otto link super tone master the new ones would you suggest a 6 or a 6 star I'm an adult. Just play at home jazz blues pop so dont want anything loud. see you play an otto link. Thanks very much. Keep the video's up they are great.

    • @GetYourSaxTogether
      @GetYourSaxTogether  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andrew Wright - well I play a vintage otto link 8* “Florida” model from the 60s with a 3 or 3.5 red java reed, but I don’t think it matters that much if you get a modern one or if it’s 6 or 6* or whatever. You can still get a good sound. I’d advise going to a shop and trying out a fee and buying the one that feels best for YOU.

    I've looked at a few videos now and they are all mostly seem to be playing the tenor sax when doing this trick, I'm wondering if this trick works on bari sax?

    • @GetYourSaxTogether
      @GetYourSaxTogether  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Andy - Thanks for the suggestion. Yeh, I did think of that one actually. Do you mean the actual melody, or the solo? Melody is much easier than the solo for most people! I was lucky enough to play this tune a couple of times with Average White Band guitarist Hamish Stuart! Mega funky.

    • @andybrookes5947
      @andybrookes5947 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a question: A lot of times I hear a saxophone player playing with mildly raspy sound, but I'm not sure if it's actually growling or they just gets some amount of distortion somehow. This is mostly on tenor btw. So my question is: Is it possible to play with some amount of rasp in the sound without actually growling?
    Or is it that those players are just growling all the time?

    • @GetYourSaxTogether
      @GetYourSaxTogether  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      they're growling all the time. you can't really growl without growl if you know what I mean!

    I have difficulty humming a different note than I a playing, as I am usually thinking (or singing) the note I play in my head. The tongue trill roll works, but it is usually too overboard for the growl I want.

    • @GetYourSaxTogether
      @GetYourSaxTogether  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Rob, try humming the note first in your throat before you blow the sax - see if that helps.

    • @GetYourSaxTogether
      @GetYourSaxTogether  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You just use whatever Reed you normally use. The growl is in your throat and reeds don’t matter for this really.
