I've heard about Michael 'Hippy' Zanfardino through some stories Dom Cicale told about him. There definitely was no love lost between those two..

The whole notion that the Westside is so much bigger and badder than the other families is largely overblown. Gambinos are essentially equal.
Not anymore. Gravano brought down all the Gambino heavies in the 90s, while the west side didn't have nearly as many long term indictments. Their structure was pretty much left in place, even after the loss of Chin Gigante.

Genovese family hasn't had the same kind of widespread of disruption like the other families have for the last few decades. That's why I think Genovese is the most powerful family. But now it's much different life than it used to be back in the days so I guess they are pretty equal as in terms of power.

There other families are knocked down multiple notches when made members that know the rackets and where the money comes from flips and tells the feds. The gambinos have had capos are higher like Mikey Scars and Gravano not to mention made members like Dom Borghese. Meanwhile the Genoese have had none except Springfield guys who didn’t hurt anyone in the New York and New Jersey power base except Artie Nigro who when he was indicted was in jail and hadn’t been one of the captains on the panel since 2006. The Genoese haven’t had these major blows that the others have taken not even close

The Gambinos are not even close to the Genovese and back in Gotti's day and even back to Castellano they were on even Playing field. Genovese's have always been a Powerhouse.

People are saying Barney’s a front boss. I can’t see it but with these guys you never know. Westside is definitely powerful but Gams have way more workers. West side is wild, I know guys in the westside that don’t know half the guys in the crew, that’s how low key they are, but if there was a war Gams would win trust me, way more workers in that crew!
