Regarding Joe's movements on stage, I found this on a website:
"Flailing his arms about, and playing air guitar, became a standard trademark in early Cocker performances. Many assumed he must have been either stoned, or crazy. Actually, it was just his way of feeling the music. A singer, he didn’t have an instrument to play while on stage. In an interview with The Guardian, he explained, “I guess that came with my frustration at never having played piano or guitar. If you see me nowadays I’m not quite so animated, but it’s just a way of trying to get feeling out - I get excited and it all comes through my body.”For the whole article do a search for "10 Things You Didn't Know About Joe Cocker."

I suspect that he had scoliosis, maybe undiagnosed. When you see him from the side, the curvature of his spine is quite pronounced, it may be the reason why his ribcage is prominent and his movements so stiff. I'm not a doctor, this is just my guess. And I seem to piss people off when I mention it.

Not many have the "stereo voice" which is why those who do have it are absolutely amazing and memorable. Other stereo voices are Roy Orbison, the Righteous Brothers and Brenda Lee among others. These people are absolutely rare and should be treated as treasures according to my dad and myself.

@@lisamills4473 eh oop neighbour. I've enjoyed the odd visit to the castle and town centre. Souhwell and Belvoir castle are nice stops, too. Mind you, growing up in Old Woodstock neighbouring Blenheim palace and an expensive bus trip into Oxford, I was a bit spoilt for heritage!

I was born in 1969, around the time of Woodstock. Listening to this era of music was a big influence on my early years. If you ever get a chance you should watch all of the concert footage from Woodstock, it's brilliant. Don't forget to check out the concert footage from Monteray Pops Festival as well. You won't regret watching either of these. That was a legendary performance Cocker just gave. Glad you dug it man.

free acid. So yes they were tripping. Carlos Santana took some and didn't think he'd go on for
another few hours...he thought the neck of the guitar was a snake, the drummer was laughing
uncontrollably. This concert went on for 3 days and yes it rained. Fantastic reaction.
