    Bruckner's Symphony 9 is about as close to heaven as most of us will reach. Very touching and exciting musicians and conductor.

    ....This kind of music links the world, all generations to come, if they are wise enough to recognize it ever and ever again. There can hardly be another teacher like Maestro Blomstedt for this magnificent young orchestra. A philanthropist with a big heart and equal mind.

    The oldest living conductor conducting a youth orchestra BRAVO

      I don't think he was quite the oldest active conductor at the time of this concert in 2010 - that could have been Pierre Boulez (born in 1925) - but he certainly is now. Boulez, too, liked working with young musicians and orchestras and sharing his experiences and insights with them.

    I was sitting in the stalls at this performance and was overwhelmed by the excellence of the music making. It was the first time I'd heard this piece live and is still one of the best live Bruckner performances I've experienced.

    Not the last word in interpretation, but thoroughly enjoyable to see these young performers play this majestic music. Love that arsenal of basses on the back row,

      mrsneaky2010 I agree! Better to effort an expressive performance rather than a highly polished but soulless one.

    At last someone conducts the end of the last movement nearly as well as Schuricht. This really is a marvellous orchestra and this is a fabulous performance, a worthy successor to their great Mahler 9 with Abbado.

    • @vittoriostoraro
      @vittoriostoraro ปีที่แล้ว

      There are no great Mahler 9ths by Abbado. All his Mahler is smoothed out, prettified and bland.

    I think he's now the last true Maestro, including Maestro.Eschenbach, M.Barenboim, and so also, Maestro.Sir Simon Denis Rattle “Noblesse oblige ∽≒ Japanese physical philosophy and spirits of Bushido" that succeeds Maestro.Szell, Dr.Böhm, Maestro.Karajan and Maestro.Masur, etc.
    They have been able to conduct complete memorization in the stage production by imposing the score and the texture of organic music through the study of scores for their own identity building, which has been repeated for many years'ing.
    Each of them is Zarathustra himself written by Nietzsche, a master of Shugendo(Japanese mountain asceticism-shamanism incorporating Shinto and Buddhist concepts) with such a “Great Force”!
    I will reiterate it, but in reality, the "Force" that was praised in the movie "Star Wars" is the dimension of the daily study of the person's own elan, which is absolutely unbearable. That is really precious!
    That is, they do not understand it at all, including Nelsons, rather than not dare to understand it, it is always a coward with an "escape stance" and what a score, this is a tag tag of red 🟥 blue 🟦 yellow 🟨 Sticking it up🤣🤪🤭😆😅, just staring at the actual production and the score of the sticky note sticking so that he does not overlook it, it is like a parasite with his own sticky note score like a Bible or a symbol of authority It looks "camouflaged".
    That is the difference and superiority between those who want to be conductors, especially Chef conductors and those who do not. The real Chef conductor is always standing on a dangerous cliff leading to the summit. However, it is a Zarathustra-like delight for him.

    The final check of the score reference ends at the rehearsal (briefing). After that, in the actual performance, they only flap the wings with improvisation.
    It is a "serious game" of a very significant dimension.

    Can music bring you down? Yes, it can: 7:08 - devastating - when listening to this I feel I might take the rope. I've decided to prefer Mozart.

    Astonishing that Blomstedt conducts Bruckner's music as he would do any other one. Wait man, it is Bruckner ! "Adagio" is not "allegretto" !

    oft zu laut , zu schnell , pausen werden ignoriert , das verhältnis der instrumene (-ngruppen ) zueinander bisweilen
    völlig unbeachtet gelassen , bruckner soll die symphonie dem " lieben gott " gewidmet haben . blomstedt scheint
    sich eher an die lärmende , hektische , egomanische betriebsamkeit des hic et nunc zu richten. die musiker waren
    klasse . aber sie wären bruckner gerechter geworden , hätte ein dirigent wie celibidache mit ihnen das werk
    einstudiert.

    Don't like it. Blomstedt conducts, especially the first movement, way too fast. He is 24 minutes!!!! faster than Celibidache, 23 minutes!!! faster than Maazel and even 16 minutes!!! faster than Nelsons, as a younger recording. I bet the old man just wanted to go to bed fast.

    • @isch248
      @isch248 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Blomstedt was following the instructions of Bruckner. Celibidache and Maazel were way too slow.

    • @marcelodimase5805
      @marcelodimase5805 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes indeed. Blomstedt is one of the best conductors for performing Bruckner. Another reference is Karajan.

    • @paulsehstedt6275
      @paulsehstedt6275 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, you get longer entertainment with the other conductors, but for my taste Blomstedt is closer to Bruckner's intentions than Nelson. Bruckner is loud and maybe disturbing, but so intensive. Blomstedt does a great job here!

    • @andreaguarino8207
      @andreaguarino8207 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Blomstedt is too fast but Celibidache is boring, arrogant, slow and overrated conductor
