Jungkoo's song Stay Alive produced by Suga, is the soundtrack of BTS's original webtoon and novel 7 FATES: CHAKHO.
In a span of three hours since its release, Stay Alive soared to the top of iTunes top song charts in 51 regions of the world, and after six hours, it had become the quickest song by any Korean soloist in history to hit No 1 in 80 different regions. After 14 hours, Stay Alive reached the No 1 spot on iTunes Top Songs charts in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, France, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, and Germany.
Not sure what the tally is right now, but last night when I checked the song had already charted #1 on iTunes in 98 countries.
Actually the song topped the 8 major music markets in over 6 hours, not in 14hrs. #1 in 98 countries in first 24 hours, the highest debut by Korean solo artist on global spotify both in ranking (#3) and number of streams, has already reached #1 billboard hot trending songs daily chart. SUGA wrote the lyrics and composed, but it's not him as back vocals.

This is an OST for their new Webtoon 7 Fates: CHAKHO by HYBE. No rap in this one for sure. Vocals I think are all Jungkook, including the backing tracks/adlibs. Suga produced it. Check out the YT channel called 7 Fates: CHAKHO by HYBE to get more information about what the lyrics relate to. The room stained with blood may make more sense if you watch what the Webtoon is actually about, and what characters they formed based on the 7 BTS members. That said, BTS' lyrics almost always have double meanings, or more. I love the song and Jungkook's voice, in particular - it's soft, and high, then deep, a bit choppy in parts on purpose, then back to soft - almost desparate. Just beautiful.

I can tell they both had fun with this and of course BTS is so extra they made a soundtrack for their Webtoon, With this and the Samsung track “Over the Horizon” I’m realizing Suga’s developed a very cinematic feel to some pieces the soundscapes are just so good. Plus he’s worked with JK so long he and knows how to use his voice and adlibs.
I guess it's a song about "survival". Being in a situation in which people's lives are in danger and you're trying to not lose all hope. It's more of a ballad with ambience background, with some melodic staccato parts too.

Even though it was written for the webtoon (and you weren't aware of that at the time of your reaction) I loved your interpretation of the lyrics. The fact is that lyrics can be interpreted in many ways even when there is a particular intention or meaning behind them and with many other BTS songs they don't always explicitly state the meaning.
I liked your interpretation the song could be about the self and anxiety. As I said I havnt read the webtoon yet either and I think this is something great about the lyrics of this particular song - you can enjoy them and the song without ever reading the webtoon. You can interpret the song to whatever suits you. The fact is if you had read the webtoon before reacting to the song you may have never interpreted it in this way, so I think this was a great and unique reaction 👍
The lyrics and songwriting credits are on Doolset now (you prob heard that in the live comments too). It's a shame they obviously weren't up there at the time you reacted but would have been if you waited a bit longer.
And that's the thing with the translation. Blogs or lyric videos which have a focus on correct lyrics / good translation won't get necessarily get them out as quick as those colour coded lyric videos but that's because they want to ensure accuracy. I would never have high faith in those lyric channels that have the videos out straight away when a song just releases.
I havnt read the webtoon myself but understand part of the song plays over episode 4 of the webtoon in a particular scene.
Personally I really love the song. I love Jungkooks vocals and adlibs and I think the production is amazing. I love how atmospheric and haunting it sounds. To me it's the kind of song that when listening to it, it takes me out of reality and to a completely other world (which I love) which not many songs achieve. I think its really beautiful and unique. 💜
The song has a promotional video on the official channel for the webtoon 7 FATES: CHAKHO by HYBE which is really awesome with some images from the webtoon in it and the BTS members, it really suits the song and there are English subtitles . It's basically an MV but is a minute short on the song. Maybe you might want to watch on your own. There are a few writers credited on doolsets page but Suga is listed first so I believe this indicates Suga played a fair role in either lyric writing and or composition.
You don’t have to apologize! Your reaction is great! Trust us! It’s so hard to know everything that’s going on with BTS they actually put out so much content it’s hard to keep track. Plus their songs are very multi layered a lot of the time even though it’s relating to the OST there’s always a possibility it’s related to other things. The lyrics are very beautiful and can relate to a lot of situations and people!

this song is so incredible, and it's just a soundtrack to their webtoon. imagine what they have in the works for their new album! this is a very dramatic, somewhat spooky song to fit the story they are telling. it's not always a good idea to anticipate anything specific for new albums, but we have been getting hints and clues that kinda make army feel like the next album will have some hip hop vibes and we are looking forward to it! from their latest album from nov 2020 i recommend Dis-ease, and also Telepathy which was in the festa room live as the last song. i've really enjoyed watching your reactions, i found you this week and binged all your bts reactions but i look forward to watching you discover more! your aunt is the real mvp!
Ok not your kind of music but Jungkook can also rap. You can watch and check his rap compilation. He was debuted (15 yrs old) as a rapper/singer. He is a sub rapper also If one of the 3 rappers is absent/sick Jungkook is taking his part.

This is not a 'typical' BTS song, because it's not for them, for an album .
It's a song for the soundtrack to a webtoon that BTS collaborated with. Broadly, BTS has lent their images to seven characters in the webtoon. The characters form a group fighting Korean mythical creatures that resemble what we in the west would call a 'were-tiger'. They are tigers that can assume human form and pass for human, but actually attack and kill real humans. BTS' characters each start out fighting the creatures individually, but eventually meet each other one by one, forming a tight bond as a group as they work together to save their city. I can only give a broad outline to the story because not all the episodes are out yet so none of us really know where this story is going.

I’m a big fan of Tool and A Perfect Circle who I see you like as well! Of course, if it’s not obvious I’m also a big BTS fan. I’m glad to see you’re deep diving into their lyrics, it’s definitely one of my favorite things about them.
I’m not completely done with your reaction yet but just to give you some insight in case you don’t find it before the end of your reaction this is actually written for an OST for a web toon (like a graphic novel) called: 7 Fates Chakho, so I suspect the lyrics have more to do with the characters in the story.
The story was helped created by the guys and it’s difficult to explain in a brief way but basically it’s an action/adventure/fantasy story that deals with mystical beings and what I would say are Shapeshifter type demon creatures called Boems. We’re only five episodes into the story so we don’t have the full details yet.

Just warning you, translation channels with the worst translations who are almost /never/ accurate are Jaeguchi and Lemoring.
Ironically they are also the biggest channels with the most views, so that's fun...
I strongly agree and not just on the basis of wrong lyrics (English and Hangul). Are you aware that Jaeguchi in many cases takes 100% of copyright credit - effectively stealing money from HYBE/BTS and many other Companies and artists? - wanted to share this in case you dont know.
Zaty Farhani, Lemoring and Random_k and other lyric channels do the same or similar with different methods claiming up to 50 percent copyright. I already knew they often have poor lyric translation and have heard that they claim some of the copyright for their videos, so I don't use them or recommend them myself. Just yesterday though, I finally got around to watching some videos I had found about the detail of exactly what they do which was uncovered by a channel called Zaer Apollo 🤯. It is absolutely disgusting and I don't think any BTS ARMY or any other Korean music fans should be using them.
I would definetly recommend watching Zaer Apollo's videos as they have the actual detail but

I think people need to be aware of the fact that they are taking money that should be going to Hybe/BTS and other companies and artists (including some much smaller ones) and illegal or not, what they are doing is unethical and morally wrong. 🤬🤬
Oh also on top of the fact that these channels are using certain methods to take all or up to half of the copyright, many of them also have PayPal, patreon or other ways to get donations from viewers so they are double dipping. 😡
I believe there are other channels that also do these same practices and we should take more care if using them to to try to check and if it's not clear don't use them. We need to take care to support the right channels. Dial 6137 for example are a BTS only channel (and I know there are some other BTS only channels) so it's more evident to me the creator is a BTS ARMY who is passionate about BTS and wants to do the right thing.
I don't use social media like twitter or Facebook, but from now on I'm going to be sharing this as much as possible where necessary on TH-cam, as we need to stop supporting these channels 🛑

It's vocal's by Jungkook, produced by suga. They only put his picture there to let us know of his participating in the production of the song. Jungkook sang the vocals, adlibs, chorus, back vocals & him harmonizing with himself. Jungkook is the voice behind every bts song, the adlibs back vocals ets he got credit in it.
It's a webtoon. This is part of hybe's imaginative writing. Webtoon is pure fiction please don't focus on the lyrics but on the song, Jungkook's vocals & suga's production

I’m glad that although it’s not really your cup of tea, you recognize how beautiful Jungkook’s voice is, and Suga did an amazing job writing and producing. I can find redeeming features of any song they do that wouldn’t normally be my thing. I said before on another video, rap/hip hop was never my thing. However I’ve come to love their rap/hip hop, especially when it has an addictive melody that hooks in your brain, with the vocal line singing in other parts. Having said that though, I even like the rap line only songs and their solo stuff. It’s weird to finally appreciate a genre of music I never liked before. Definitely keep going with these BTS reaction videos. The fandom loves them so you’ve probably noticed a lot of new support. You’ve been respectful and introspective and you seem genuinely interested. It may even help with your anxiety. I’m taking very little Xanax these days for mine since finding BTS. No joke. 💜
I believe you mentioned before that the beauty is interpretation is subjective. I do think all the theories could be correct: related to the Webtoon plot/characters (1st verse), related to BTS=ARMY relationship, related to psychology shadow-ego and anxiety (all 2nd verse). You were there. Jungkook beautifully expresses the emotions that Suga is masterfully known for in his cinematic music. There are so many layers in the music, even the melody doesn't repeat except for the chorus. Genius. Doolset's lyrics are up now but also do check out Colin's (suggested in other comment) he keeps the poetry part of the translations intact.

It is the OST of their Webtoon Chakho 7 fates. Suga composes, wrote and produced. Suga writes his own lyrics in ot7 songs and his solos.
So the lyrics relate to the story going on.

They are fighting a menace and there are dark moments.
This song relates to one such. Or maybe used for future moments as well as it is OST.

Thanks for your reaction! I really loved how you were working out the lyrics. I've been following the Webtoon myself, and even with that background, many of your theories about what JK may be singing about sound just as plausible (perhaps with a little tweak!) I lean more toward the BTS rap line songs and the group's older music, but over the past few years of listening to other reactors, I've come to appreciate the production side of things. I'm no expert, but I now try to listen to the music behind the vocals and not just the melodies either. Suga did an impressive job building up the drama of this song without getting too big and dynamic. The unique verse structure where the first and second verses sound different is pretty cool, too. I love the unexpected. I wonder if it is a rapper's influence like switching up the flow.... Anyway, another honest and informative reaction from you! 💜

In this case, yes he means literal blood. This is sound track for the webtoon, which is full of monsters and violent, bloody deaths. Most of the song can (should?) be taken literally, hiding in the shadows in a room stained with blood, hoping for a miracle to fix what has gone so wrong (monsters invading the world), etc. For a change this is not a decoding project.
I don't know if someone told you already, but Jaeguchi's translations are most of the times really shitty or the indication of who is singing what, way too many times wrong, so very good choice on trying to get other sources!~

I think people need to be aware of the fact that they are taking money that should be going to Hybe/BTS and other companies and artists (including some much smaller ones) and illegal or not, what they are doing is unethical and morally wrong. 🤬🤬
Oh also on top of the fact that these channels are using certain methods to take all or up to half of the copyright, many of them also have PayPal, patreon or other ways to get donations from viewers so they are double dipping. 😡

I love this song so much. You said that you like more rap songs so I would definitely suggest you Suga "The Last"... The song has amszing lyrics, reflects on Sugas life and also the beat is insane.
Obviously, Doolset is *the* source for lyric translations, although I sometimes feel that they come across a little bit dry and literal relative to the rhythms of the sung words (BIG caveat: I don’t speak Korean, at all, so that’s a very, very subjective view).
It’s nice to have the song playing as you read. The first place I tend to look on TH-cam for lyric videos if there’s no official mv is Dial 6137, although they’re not particularly quick to get them out (which is probably a good thing), and they don’t have every song. They use large, fairly easy to read text over a single still image, which makes it easier to concentrate. I have seen other people recommend those, and I haven’t come across any seriously negative comments about the translations. Obviously, because they’re not colour-coded you’re on your own as far as working out who’s singing.

I'm so glad that your going to check out Dial 6137 as I've also recommended it before. I agree about their background and clear lyrics and for the most part they seem to use and credit good translation, often using BTS - Trans / Bangtan Subs and occasionally doolset (though they've used genius a couple times 🤦♀️). Apart from their videos being non colour coded, I think the only other negative thing is sometimes they could display more lyrics on the screen at a time. Also a channel called eleven has great lyrics videos for the first 3 cyphers which I prefer over Dial 6137's.
I wanted to share something about the lyric channels with high views, specifically Jaeguchi, Zaty Farhani, Lemoring and Random_k. I already knew they often have poor lyric translation and have heard that they claim some of the copyright for their videos, so I don't use them or recommend them myself. Just yesterday though, I finally got around to watching some videos I had found about the detail of exactly what they do which was uncovered by a channel called Zaer Apollo 🤯. It is absolutely disgusting and I don't think any BTS ARMY or any other Korean music fans should be using them. Also apparently as well as incorrect english translation there are a lot of the colour coded lyric videos that have incorrect Hangul lyrics as well including Jaeguchi's. Jaeguchi seems to be the worst offender claiming in many cases full copyright.
I would definetly recommend watching Zaer Apollo's videos as they have the actual detail but

Zaer Apollo is the one who investigated and uncovered the particulars (even receiving emails from Zaty Farhani with details about emails between Jaeguchi and Zaty Farhani) and an attempted explanation from Jaeguchi. They have the following 5 videos that explain everything - I've listed them all in release order below. Some are quite long (around 30 mins) but others only 10 minutes or so, but I highly recommend watching them all for the full awareness. If you are short on time for watching you can even just listen to them and get a good understanding. The detail is mindblowing 🤯

It's really concerning that I've seen some people refer to these lyric channels in comments, including some in your comment section and there are actually a lot of other reactors that use them. They have a ridiculous amount of subscribers and views. If someone doesn't know any better they will use them, especially as they are always the top result and get the videos out the quickest. for me the music is actually Dogeon's point of view (RM's character), even because the music was placed in his chapter, the lyrics seem to be his for the friends that he tries to keep safe at all costs, including doing jobs that illegal, while he puts himself at risk and is afraid of losing them and feels bad for what he has done in his life.

since this is a song for a webtoon i don’t think it has much to do with bts themselves. suga wrote the lyrics as well as produced the song. in general suga is known for being able to relate to many different situations and write songs for other people while putting himself in their shoes. i think he had the storyline of the webtoon while writing this song: a story of 7 people (based on bts members) who meet and fight against monsters - beoms. the song is dedicated to other members because them coming together was a fate, and that can apply to the characters in the webtoon and bts as a group as well. thank you for another amazing reaction video🤍

Just FYI BTS is having a concert in Seoul called Permission to Dance Live in Seoul. And it will be out in theaters on March 12. Some tickets already on sale, other Feb 22nd. And live streamed from Weverse March 10th and 13th at 4am CST lol. But usually with delayed view a few days later around 8pm CST.
I mention it because they're so good live and really just a FYI if you wanna check it out. Just a heads up that Korea has strict Covid rules so they'll be 4k fans in a giant arena and they're not allowed to make noise just clap or use clappers. So the vibe might be a bit strange.

I strongly agree and not just on the basis of wrong lyrics (English and Hangul). Are you aware that Jaeguchi in many cases takes 100% of copyright credit - effectively stealing money from HYBE/BTS and many other Companies and artists?
