You've really done a wonderful job of explaining loading film into a 645n. Thank you

A lot of the auto wind cameras from the 1980's and 1990's sound like cheap VCR's. I LOVE that sound! Right up there with the sweet "KA-THUNK" sound of the Pentax 67 mirror slap.

Thanks so much for this video. I have the 645 and I didn't know how to open the film back and load the film. This video helps so much. Thank you.

Kind of off topic... BUT...When I use The Auto Focus Feature, how can I recompose without the focus moving. Thats been my only frustration with this system. AF works great if you want your focus dead center frame... But if not as soon as You Recomp, the focus does its own thing. Great Video!!

Short answer is you can't or at least you can't from what I've tried

QUESTION...if I use the older manual lens on the 645N: They don't have the "A" on them...would I still be able to use the older lens with the camera in Automatic (Program) mode? Like, I set the aperture ring to all the way open/closed and the camera computes the aperture for me?

After I load mine, put the back on, and press the shutter, mine only shoots and advances 1 exposure, instead of advancing the film to the first frame, like at 2:24 in the video.
I tested by sacrificing a roll. I load the film, and it takes 7 exposures to get to the first frame, and then the roll is done at frame 23 (which is actually 16).
Have you ever had issues with this camera acting similar? The camera is working fine as far as exposure, etc. I just shoot 7 blanks and then count, but it would be nice if it worked 😀

i just got the pentax 645 (not the 645n but i think it's supposed to do the same) and i have the same problem! i didn't realize going in that's what happened so when it kept going after 16 i was so confused. it also doesn't do the part at the end and i just have to keep releasing the shutter to make sure it's completely wound up 😅

Can you please tell me what eye piece this is?

I'm actually not sure- I purchased the Pentax off of eBay, so it came with the camera. Sorry I'm not of more help!

This is one of the two standard eyepieces that came with the new 645n camera body when you bought it.

Anyone know what to do if the frame counter isn't showing on the screen? Help is much appreciated!

Hi Abby. I have a problem with this procedure, my photos scanned with good orientation have the markings upside down and reading from right to left (like mirrored). My back says 120 on the lock. I have 465n. I do it like you, is there something messed with my back? like this: www.flickr.com/photos/22788073@N04/47030009791/in/photostream/

Hey Nancy! I'd suggest checking with your lab on that one- I've never heard of that issue before, could it possibly be a scanning issue?
