Bahamas Bound! SV Adagio 2024

BOAT PLANS ARE WRITTEN IN THE SAND AT LOW TIDE!
We finished our 2023 cruising season in the safety of Rio Dulce Guatemala, Adagio safely up on the hard in Nanajuana Marina, with plans to return in January 2024 to sail and dive the beauty of Roatan and Utila, Honduras. But as our dear friends Shawn and Geri from Sailing Roam say, "We don't have plans, we have ideas." Some civil unrest in Guatemala after their recent election led us to take Adagio out of Rio Dulce in November 2023 and start the journey north to bring her back to Florida. It was a lot of "hurry up and wait" as we patiently waited out the cold fronts to pass as they lined up like soldiers one after another. Adagio "skipped" her way up the coasts of Belize and Mexico (along with Captain Julio, our dear friends Tony and Camilo, and even our son Brian for a portion of the passages). Nobody was complaining! They enjoyed exploring and diving along the way, until finally January 13, 2024, there was a perfect (but short) weather window between cold fronts to bring Adagio back to Miami, Florida.
It was more waiting and working on the many boat projects until finally, at first light March 3, 2024, with our weather window open, our Bahamas adventure began! For Julio and I, it was back to our favorite place on earth - the Bahamas, where our own love story began in 1989 on Great Stirrup Cay (but that's another story for another video on another day!). Our "race" to our favorite islands in the Bahamas - the Exumas - was on! Hope you enjoy!
