Misa's bass tone is indeed perfect. Every time Misa is just going to town I have such a stupid smile on my face. I love the whole band but that bass just gets me every time.
That´s the real strength of MISA in my opinion. She is maybe one of the bass players today, but she is an total teamplayer and that´s awesome and the perfect fit for Band-Maid and Kanami´s style of songwriting!

The name MISA in Japanese means 'Beautiful Bloom, Help'. Kanami has written an album that allowed MISA to truly bloom in an explosion of sound and power.
This is definitely one of the best dirty and nasty intros I've ever heard. I have now listened to the whole album in order maybe 50 times, and these 15 seconds in the beginning of I Still Seek Revenge are so prominent every time.
I really think Kanami’s greatest strength is her lack of ego. She’s always writing songs in a way that lets all the members shine. She could easily write the songs to focus only on her. She clearly understands the power she has as the only song writer of the band and chooses to never hog the spotlight. She clearly loves riffs and soloing but restrains herself so it’s never the Kanami show all the time. She really is the perfect lead guitarist.
MISA owns it with this heavy funk groove. Her bass lines remind me of some "Miyavi" stuff and from back in the day the "Infectious Grooves" ( especially, Punk It Up). Love it.
MISA MISA MISA! She's really going crazy in this one and they put her all the way in the front which is just incredible. I don't know alot of other bands that will show off their bassist this much. But then, there's not alot of bands where the bassist does this kind of stuff. Or maybe I just couldn't hear it? :D
Misa's mighty creative bass work is being realized to be one of their great standout qualities. She has pushed her abilities and worked to integrate those skills into the songs as much as any of them, which is a high bar to clear. I don't know any other bassist offhand working it this well and this hard. And there are some great ones out there. When I try to think of bass players this creative and versatile, I think of maybe Jack Bruce of Cream, Chris Squire of Yes, Geddy Lee of Rush... Misa is right up there, standing tall on her own. The tunes on this album are getting the respect they are for many reasons, but Misa's bass, her creativity, her tone, everything she's doing is a big part of these tunes working so well, and it was true wisdom to make her tracks prominent! Wayyyy back... Genya Ravan was asked by Hilly Crystal to listen to the Dead Boys play live at CBGB's and consider producing a record for them. She went, she listened, she turned to Hilly and was like, A little rough, but they have talent. But we gotta have a bass player. Without bass there is no rock. So I'm thinking the corollary is, bass is rock.
Kanami letting the others shine more. Exactly what I thought when the Manners MV came out. She watered the seeds Miku planted, they grew, they are blossoming BIG now.
Not sure if you ever got the chance to see the video, but the bass line from this is almost identical to one that misa used for the intro to "play" at their zepp tokyo tour in 2018. Not that im complaining about that, because its still one of my favorite live performances and im extremely happy they reused some of that bass line. They write a lot of those fancy riffs just to play them live to make songs more fresh, but a lot of them go unused and become forgotten about once the tour is done, so i see the bass in this song as a sort of throwback to that version of play (since theyve replaced the intro) and it makes me super happy
Kanami during listening party: "During the COVID-19 Pandemic, I wrote this song while feeling all sorts of unease and anxiety. I wanted to retain these feelings in the song. I asked MISA to add in some cool Slap Bass, and she did so just as I had imagined. That's MISA for you!"
The struggle is real...taken individually, each member of Band-Maid more than exceeds expectations in technical proficiency, execution, verve, and class. Taken together as a cohesive unit, they're a tactical nuke.
I'm willing to bet this song would sound so sick live. If it sounded off the charts from the CD then just imagine it live. I'm hoping it gets played if they do another online okyu-ji.
I wonder if the amazing quality of the musical compositions on this album is in part related to Covid-19 shutting down live-performances for most of this past year. I was rather amazed, previously, by their ability to put on so many live-performances and still find time to compose great new music. Perhaps having more time on their hands went into focusing even more time on song-writing?
You’re not wrong. In all the interviews they’ve said that while they didn’t actually change their songwriting style or process... they had a lot more time to focus on polishing each song this time before final recording... that’s the main difference. More QC I guess? The other being their psychological state due to the pandemic influencing the music I guess.

From there I found you , then Chase Carnison . The knowledge you have regarding music has helped me understand just how good this band is . I thank you for that.
I Still Seek Revenge is really a nice title, mainly for a MISA song, as she was forgotten as a band member by the peple the produced the leaflet od the new album.
Funny that MISA posted on Twitter a photo of the new album and book that comes with the deluxe edition...and they left her off!! She wrote her name at the bottom of the list of band members. How anyone could forget her is beyond me!
This song is MISA saying, "What if I took the pop-slappy bit from the live intro to 'Play' and turned it into an entire song? The rest of you could find something to do in the background, right?"
This song definitely has Misa's stamp on it. Her choice of bass and the way she plays it just fits the whole package incredibly well. Unbelievable that they 'forgot' her name on the photo book of the Ltd. Edition of the album. The morons in quality control should be fed to Misa. 😈
The quintessential assassins of old Japan were the ninja. They were said to be invisible...hehehe...So, don't be too hard on the morons in quality control--you can't name what you can't see! hahaha

👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎You are awesome!!! And Band-Maid too, This album is EPIC in my opinion, the best will arrive with the next songs, believe me, H-G-H, Why Why Why, Chemical Reaction, Honkai, are pure arts in Rock like I have no listened to for decades, Black Hole is full of old psychedelic English taste, like Peter Hammill 70 songs, in Giovanni, there are some beautiful transitions and time changes and beautiful voices, in this album, Misa is completely out of the schemes she is crazy, the chorus in Black Hole is unique, this album is a must to have. Sayonakidori is the only song a little too J pop-rock, but always band Maid made. In a total of 12 songs 11 are awesome, no other band can do this.

Having seen the girls live 2x and obviously am a big fan of their music and talent, I am getting nervous that with this album, they will be having a hard time mixing these songs with some of their previous for a well rounded concert/ I feel their genre almost changed a bit with this album, altho being one of their best. I personally feel Kanami had a bit more pressure from Misa and Akane as to composing while being cooped up for the entire last year because of covid.
Two things Champ. 1. What do you think of the mix? Ive seen some fans complaining it's too compressed or questioning some of the choices throughout the last two albums. 2. Are you on Facebook much? In my opinion, this is their best mixed album yet. It’s no way as compressed as Conqueror, the backing vocals shine excellently through the mix, and it’s just a nice audio journey despite how hard and heavy they are going instrumentally
1. The mix is awesome and I can't understand the complaints... as a headphone user. Listening through your phone speakers won't do it justice. 2. The Champ does not use Facebook but does appreciate the love ya'll are showing.

@@TheChampOfMedium on nr 1 - the complaints were for "World Domination" and "Conqueror". Especially on the later it was ... suboptimal ^^" Both were overly compressed, think like that one Metallica album where everyone went to buy the Guitar-Hero game, because it sounded better there XD Loudness-war Second biggest complaint for Band-Maid was that Miku is almost unhearable in the (studio) mix (you mentioned so yourself on "DICE" btw). Or if you could hear her - her and Saiki sounded almost indistinguishable, very very similar voices. That being said - I have NO complaints for "Unseen World"! It sounds awesome! They really stepped up their game on this part too. I'm happy. Everything is very clear in the mix. Vocally both sound great. A lot of people also mentioned that Miku really beefed up on "UW" - and, yes, she did - but she did also a great job vocally on "Conqueror" before too... It lacked in post-process :(
Well, it starts with the same bending up D-flat note, coz the song has been wrote in the same scale I guess. Plus that signature Mincho's PRS tone. All these together reminds me a CLANG too. ^_^ P.S. Also the same tempo
It's seems to me they've transitioned from straight ahead rock and roll to prog rock. That's not a bad thing, they are constantly evolving. Just go back and listen to the early albums, it's remarkable. Maybe on the next album we'll see a double album with a 20 minute opus.
I gotta say, the album is actually very good. Originally my favorite album was BAND-MAIDs Just Bring It album. I starts off with: Dont You Tell ME, Puzzle, Moratorium, YOLO, Cross. The other great songs in there are Take me Higher!! So What?, you. (
I feel similarly, Just Bring It I put at number 1 after my first listen of Unseen World, but after a few more listens I'll need to revaluate Just Bring It. Chemical Reaction is honestly the only song that isn't good, but it's not like it's bad, it's more what it has to compete with across the album. I feel if Chemical Reaction was shorter and Black Hole was longer I would give it to Unseen World for number 1 and if it's that close I should probably just give it to Unseen World as I think musically so much more is going on in this album compared to Just Bring It, even though Just Bring It has some really great songs.
@@firefoyx I actually think Chemical Reaction has its own charm. It’s veeeeeeery simple and laid-back, at least by BM standards, and that’s very rare to hear from them. Also, I absolutely love the cowbell in that song
"Just Bring It" was also my favorite album before "Unseen World". I love "World Domination", but none of my favs are on it. "Conqueror" has higher highs than "WD", but also lower "lows". "Just Bring It" was the better album in my mind. With the release with "Unseen World" - I don't know. It might still be... or it might take the second place for me, time will tell Not a big fan of "Take Me Higher" btw., besides the Kanami-MISA back-and-forth it doesn't do that much for me. Puzzle, Moratorium and Secret My Lips maybe the biggest three of JBI... But like you (johneg27) - I fuk'n adore "you."! It's not the fastest, hardest, ... song - but I absolutely LOVE it! agree about "OOPARTS", up to this point they never performed this one live. I think it's the only one with that fate (well, "UW" songs will be performed in the near future)

I'm happy. Everything is very clear in the mix. Vocally both sound great.
A lot of people also mentioned that Miku really beefed up on "UW" - and, yes, she did - but she did also a great job vocally on "Conqueror" before too... It lacked in post-process :(
Last one Misa song is "unfair game" and this time is more best!
Is it just me who thinks the beginning of Kanami's solo sounds like the beginning of "Clang"? 5:07
Edit: i don't have a problem with that.
Me too Mr Rafael. The early note sound the same. And than, like always, she killing that guitar.. 🤣
Well, it starts with the same bending up D-flat note, coz the song has been wrote in the same scale I guess. Plus that signature Mincho's PRS tone. All these together reminds me a CLANG too. ^_^
SWEET!
It might still be... or it might take the second place for me, time will tell
Not a big fan of "Take Me Higher" btw., besides the Kanami-MISA back-and-forth it doesn't do that much for me.

Wait till you listen to the last 3 songs)
There's literally not one bad song on this album. I do have my favourites, but absolutely none of them will get the "skip" treatment.
I am honestly curious on how he'll react to Giovanni and black hole. Madness followed by .. well.. black hole. Nothing can describe what black hole is.
So this is once again cool. So does this mean you have Without Holding Back but not Youth?
Hey Champ PLEASE do yourself a Favor and react to the official Videos for Band Maids Endless Story, Glory, Bubble, and Yolo.
And also VERY important Band Maiko s Gion Cho. I assure you it will blow you away in more then 1 aspect.
and even after over 45 Band Maid Songs Yolo is still my Favorite.
Oh you need to check out their BEST Power Ballad called Daydreaming. Its different then most other Band Maid Songs.
Didn't miku right at least a couple off the songs on this one. I have the album on apple musicand a few of the songs a accredited to her
On all the songs the lyrics are credited to Miku and the music & arrangement to Band-Maid
Yes (*σ>∀
I keep waiting for you to talk about the mix, which gets between me and the music. Compare with those nice clean live concert mixes where I can hear every detail of every instrument. Love the music, don't love the mix.
@samlepro3 You prefer it to the live concert mixes? Not sure what you mean by "best." You certainly must agree there's a lot of compression here.
Hey, HYNN is releasing a new single on January 21 called "With and without you", she's an amazing solo singer, if you have time to check it out :)
