The first portion, the jig, is stroke or minstrel style. That tune is actually called Bully for You. The Lorena portion, I play overhand, while jerron continues in stroke style
Hey Blaine any chance you would go over Jerrons version of Old Blue. He played it at the same Ark show he played No more Moon shine on Lorena. I’ve seen Clifton has an old blue video and I’ve seen a few other peoples renditions but none play it like Jerron, at least to my ears. And I’m not skilled enough on banjo to pick up exactly what he’s doing. Anyway love this video never thought I could play no more moonshine like jerron but you did it lol. Thanks!
Believe it or not, I'm working on that. I'm currently learning from the Frank Converse Banjo without a Master book from 1865, and it's giving more insight into how jerron plays these songs. I've got the very basics of Old Blue down, but it needs a lot of work. In due time, I'll have something up.
If you have a tuner it will help you out. But I can explain it this way. 1st string 5th fret should sound the same as the 5th string 2nd string 3rd fret should sound the same as the 1st strings open 3rd string 4th fret = 2nd string open 4th string 7th fret = 3rd string open

But I can explain it this way.

c#7435 its standard g tuning with the 4th dropped to the 7th fret.
That was cool. Are those the normal Labella no.17 strings? They look so fat in the video.
