Both Fred Astaire and Michael Jackson are greatest dancers. Fred Astaire's 1940s dance moves are still relevant.

No one else gonna say it...well I will: Fred Astaire was a straight up G. Dance dance dance is right...

Fred Astaire was on the set of the Thriller video.
Someone remarked what a great dancer Michael was, to which Fred replied "Michael Jackson is not just a great dancer, he is the dance"

There doesn’t have to be. Leave them be. Don’t expect anyone today to be like them. That’s too much to ask for.

Chris Brown takes a lot of his dance routines from inspiration by these two but other than that no one really dances or performs like this anymore 😂

To me Michael jackson didn’t take anything... he always has his own touch . To me he’s paying homage because he truly admired all the greats and learned from them .

      MJ was the greatest.
Being saying that he studied all the great dancers before him including Fred Astaire whom was his neighbor in Hollywood.
Smooth Criminal was dedicated to Fred Astaire.
Fred was very happy “to see that some took his place while was alive” (his words).
They had great friendship and they both were the greatest of their time.

It appears as though Michael Jackson's dance style was influenced by Fred Astaire.
I'm confident that Fred would have been able to immolate any dance move Michael Jackson was able to do

Fred Astaire is the winner. You can see that Michael Jackson often copied from other stars. It was the same with the moonwalk.

Lol "copied?" Michael was one of the few artists/innovators of the world that showed his influences. He never stole/copied it, it was pure homage. Also one of the few artists that had influences that wasn't of his style. I mean most would think Fred Astaire??? But their dance routines are very similar. Fred's traditional and Michael took it further.

@@ayaanbretmitchell9830 Agreed and this is coming from a fan of both Michael Jackson and James Brown ( all respect to the great Fred Astaire) it’s amazing how people love to discredit Mike by saying “ he stole from James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Sammie Davis Jr, Fred Astaire) and yet not one of them had any ill will or had that type of mindset. Michael always said study the greats and become greater and that’s what he did.
