Great work Aaron, I purchased the iPad pro4 mainly due to my compromised eyesight. I have had it just for two days and already my eyes don’t struggle like with the L.C.D. Screen I struggle with my eyesight in most things in every day life. So this I pad pro 4 is a a definite improvement to my everyday life. So up to now this is a great success.
Having had multiple corneal transplants I too struggle with my vision. I need extra light when reading a book and I had the contrast set to max on my iPad. Just waiting for my 13 inch pro 4 to arrive and am anticipating the new display may give me some assistance. I don’t imagine the new iPad is going to do anything my 2018 12.9 inch pro could do but I am hoping for a huge improvement in the screen.
I picked up 11” 256gigs last Friday and I love it. Never had a pro iPad. Upgraded from air 4 and the display is such a crazy upgrade!!! 120hz tandem oled just kills the iPad Air 4 screen. The performance and camera are noticeably better. And yeah performance is just crazy 🤪 Tomorrow my Magic Keyboard should arrive then I’m set for the next few years 🤌

I got the 11 inch 256 GB last Saturday, along with the magic keyboard, and an Apple Pencil Pro. I absolutely love it. The display is beautiful, the speakers sound amazing, compared to the M2 iPad Pro that I had. On the magic keyboard, I love having the function row at the top, makes all the difference. I did order a dBrand skin for the keyboard, I had one on my last magic keyboard and loved it. I just can't stand how the material on the keyboard feels when it gets dirty

Your eyes may like the OLED better because the mini led screen had a really long response time resulting in lots of ghosting which can make you uncomfortable. It’s something I have noticed with my MacBook Pro. Glad you’re liking it and the PWM isn’t bothersome!

At 5:14 - OLED displays have much faster response times, that is what you are feeling. Although the LED displays on previous models were 120hz, their response times were much lower. Dave2D talked on this in his review and had the response time as 5ms on OLED vs the 39ms on the M1 iPad Pro 12.9 with the Mini-LED display.

I have been using my M4 IPad 11 in. Every day since I got it, almost more than my phone and m2 MacBook and I can honestly say I am thoroughly enjoying it! My favorite apple device is the iPad Pro. People jus want to much from it. It’s a computer that’s a tablet man. 95% of people can use it as there main computer like i do and be just fine. Ans then at night use it for laptop stuff.
How there different devices ….Apple will never merge the 2 that’s so Un Apple like …..IPad is a IPad and a MacBook is a MacBook your setting yourself for failure if you think Apple will take a profit out of their pocket to enable the iPad to do things that their full blown computer do ….Not gonna happen
I mean for me I like the Ipad more than my phone to watch videos or play games if I'm at home. However that's of course personal preference haha. Also if you want to spend the extra money
I upgraded from my M1 iPad Pro to the 2TB M4 iPad Pro (Standard Glass).. sure it's expensive but I'm planning to keep this for years to come. The one major difference which I'm enjoying is how light it is compared to the older M1. Also, I can see the difference having an OLED screen compared to the MiniLED.
Let’s hope we get significant iPadOS updates in a few weeks. Background processing while switching to another app, file management, and denser spacing for more widget options. But it will probably just whatever the iPhone got….last year.
A big advantage of the 13” over previous versions is it is a lot lighter to hold in tablet mode, and for myself as I regularly use outside the brighter display and nano texture will be noticeable benefits. A disadvantage of using over the Mac is often dumbed down apps over their Mac equivalents. It is not as bad as when I started using an iPad Pro with version 1, but still has somewhere to go before I can use my iPad for everything as I would like so I don’t have to carry two devices when travelling.
Hi Aaron, I would like if you can make a video of your favorite Apple product of each category that you use like a tech EDC setup and which Mac so you primarily use. It would help for Apple products decisions, thanks!
Not enough people talk about the lightness that comes with it being so thin. I love the fact that it is more portable, even with the new Magic Keyboard. The disadvantage of the thinness comes with the speakers having slightly less bass response compared to the previous generation.
The decision to make the iPad thinner was definitely to support the Magic Keyboard balance. You get better angles, bigger trackpad and a function row. You either had to increase the weight of the keyboard or decrease the weight of the iPad.
I think you missed the point of the video. He was saying unless you want the new oled screen then there is no point upgrading. I have a 12.9 M1 ipad pro and that is still way overpowered and can do everything the new ipad can do. Yes the new screen looks great but personally I can’t justify spending all that money on a way overpriced upgrade just for a little bit better screen.
The exaggerated thinness of the tablet makes the pencil look even thicker. I agree, leaving the tablet thicker to make it easier to handle and a bigger battery would be a much better improvement.
I bought the 11" M4 replacing the air 4th gen. Beautiful screen. Battery life I'm not sure on yet. Seems to drain more quickly, would make sense. But you can either have thinness or battery. The thinness is nice the first time you pick it up... But for me it then goes straight into a keyboard case so the thinness becomes a mute point. Wouldn't have minded closer to 6mm if it meant more battery.
I actually had to sell my M1 iPad Pro because while I loved it, I couldn't use it longer than an hour because my eyes got super red from the Mini-LED. Now with this I have almost no eye issues with it (I also use a matte screen protector though). So I can add onto your experience with that.
Hello Aaron , I purchased a M4 iPad Pro 13” . The unboxing was usual , then the thinness and weight was amazing . I had the WiFi model . But after a video recording test I noticed that as panning the subject in the frame would wobble . I’ve tested this on all new iPads, 11”and air too , and it’s the same . Only, interestingly, the i pad mini is ok when using back camera
A great holistic review & I think the M4 chip should give this longevity, so on & so forth. I would have like to see a larger battery & the camera still feels asymmetrical.. 👍
Coming from 9.7 IPad Pro, this tablet is different. It’s hard to explain. It could be just that its just newer to me but its feels great to use. I never thought I would buy the keyboard but it’s amazing.
I may be jumping the gun… as I am only about 5 min into the video…. I just upgraded from the 4th gen to this one and the only complaint I have is… regarding the Magic Keyboard. I love the design of the new keyboard… but I am really disappointed in the balancing of the device. When its on you lap..couch anything that is not a flat surface, it wants to fall backwards… which was not a problem with the old one. If you tilt the iPad forward enough it helps… but… a little bummed with that… other than that, it is AMAZING!
The new iPads look phenomenal but I can't justify upgrading at this point. I have an iPad Air 5th Generation with Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil that works great for basic tasks like email, streaming, and light document work.
My M1 which I traded in for the M4 was almost as good. The main difference is the OLED screen that's an improvement. For me, I dont use the iPad for watching movies or whatever, instead, I use it for business so its a bad sale for me. I regret the purchase.
Hi Aaron, with the Magic Keyboard closed, try sliding a piece of paper into it to see how well that rubber bumper works. I’d like to see. I have the 1tb M4, but I use an Otterbox case with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
I don’t know why I like the camera design of previous ipad pros! This one just looks incomplete or very empty if that makes sense! I think its because of monotone and single camera😢
You don’t have to buy the maxed out one. You can always buy the base models or the non nano version. I have the 13 inch 5g 512gb version. To me it’s just the right size storage. It’s a pity it doesn’t have at least 12gb of ram
Great video again, Aaron! I’m going to stick with my iPad Pro 12.9 M2 version. I was hoping the battery would be much bigger like you said which is a big reason for holding off.
Thank you for the in-depth coverage! For me, I feel like this is the first time in which the changes are enough to start considering a possible upgrade from my 2018 iPad Pro 11-inch. However, the price tag which keeps creeping up every generation makes it a hard sell. Furthermore, the fact that I still use the 2018 iPad Pro 11 for my daily tasks while still being snappy and having the same software support (for now) while still having aspects better than the latest iPad Air (screen refresh rate and speakers) make me feel like I’d rather wait another year or another generation before I seriously consider a change.
@Zollotech funny little quirk. When holding the iPad portrait, the upper side volume button turns the volume up and lower turns it down. When holding it landscape, the lower volume button turns the volume up, the upper turns it down!!
2:34 noticed on m2 pro and ipad mini 6th gen, ipad battery widget shows battery percent of mx keys and mx master maus 3. No surprise. I just keep forgetting. it was by name on the mini but not on the m2 pro. 7:12 Per Aaron the pogo on Apple's Magic keyboards will work to M4 or M2 pros but magnet placements won't hold onto devices very well. File app was a mess from day one. Too convoluted and inconsistently guided by Apple to app developers. That's probably why Box and Dropbox were used. Coming from ease of use for files in Windows, Android/ Google, the Apple's iOS file system has been frustrating and often nightmarish to use.
Good video Aaron! I think that the feeling like it’s 120 Hz all the time sensation is likely due to the lesser response time from the OLED. Dave2D states that it is now 5s rather than >30 with the mini LED.
I prefer the thinner design and lighter weight. One of the main reasons I upgraded was the awesome OLED display. Agree that iPad OS needs a finder-type files app.
As far as the thickness goes, I was watching another review and I think they hit the nail on the head - this iPad Pro 13” is thinner and lighter than the previous versions, which makes it easier to hold in your hand for longer periods of time. Yes I would have loved more battery but the trade-off as far as weight and thickness would make it harder to hold for longer periods. As far as iPadOS vs. MacOS, people you are just going to have to move past that. I just don’t see them changing it but iPadOS has gotten better over time.
5:25 i think it feels more smooth because the "old" mini led display hat a 50milli-second reaction time, and the new oled has a 5 mili-second reaction time iirc
Not sure where that spec came from, but the human brain really can't tell the difference between 5 and 50ms really. I think they have the capability to use 120Hz with less power in the M4.
@@zollotech IMO you realize the difference between 5 millisecond and 50 millisecond. It starts alone with Internet speed / gaming. What I also noticed that my 15 Pro max feels more responsive than my 12.9 6th gen.
As most watched the keynote, we know it will be expensive. That’s expected as it’s Pro. The average Joe won’t buy this, but they have a great $349 model to buy or a Mini or Air … or even the 11-inch Pro if they want to flex a little. Once you get Final Cut, I think you’re video should be directed squarely at the Pro user, how it performs in that arena and how one might go about using this to get Work/Design/Pro work done. Drawing on a screen is a huge deal especially for previous Wacom users are concerned. We’ve been drawing on a gray slate in our lap while looking forward at a desk monitor which is hard to get use to. Now we can actually look where we’re drawing which is so vastly better. Great video. Subbed a long time ago and I LIKED the video! Thanks, Aaron!
took my 11" M1 to best buy and compared it side by side with the 11" M4. set them both to 40% brightness which is where it's always is at home. BARELY any different to what i use it for which is entertainment, social media and web browsing. Yes on the oled i see deeper blacks and some things are more vibrant but not worth it enough to upgrade.
As with many things, it’s only worth upgrading if your current one doesn’t do something you need it to. The M1 (I have the 11” M1 as well) is still ridiculously overpowered for iPadOS. It’s never felt slow for what I do. Plus, now that you have to upgrade the keyboard and pencil, it just adds extra unnecessary cost to the purchase.
At a starting price of $1300 for the 13 inch variant, not having a proper OS or applications that leverage the full power of the M4 processors is really mesmerizing to me. So much is jam-packed into these machines with little to no availability
I don't think the thinness is the problem for grip, it's the small bezels. I want to hold it with one hand and draw with the other; even with the 11 inch the bezel doesn't have enough leverage to hold from one side. It would be okay if they added "thumb rejection" so I can grip over the screen and not have the touch interfere with the pencil.
Next year (or a few years down the road) this chassis will be called ipad air and a thicker chassis may appear (with larger battery) called ipad pro. Then the "air" name will only finally make sense...
Noticed in store that this iPad has a circle loading icon before the main screen comes on, my iPad Pro 10.5 doesn’t have that delay., instantly on when home button pushed.
Thank you for the great review Aaron - I hope to hear more about iPad OS at WWDC to better understand the strategy Apple has, to explain the rush to the M4 chip. My guess is that this platform will be the first to locally host AI capabilities of some sort.
I have iPad Air 4 and MacBook Pro from 2019 and I'm thinking of buying the new iPad Pro m4 to replace both, just waiting for iPadOS 18 for the final decision. When I am at home, I use an iMac, and while traveling, instead of bringing two devices I would only take the iPad Pro.
Is there support for multiple external displays now, or are we still limited to just one display and not in full screen? As a dedicated Apple user across mobile and computing devices, I find the lack of this option quite disappointing.
Just one display still (up to 6k) only. Would be a solid option for the future (I agree) albeit I just run remote desktop via external display most of the time or alongside sidecar and remote desktop usually supports 1 display also anyway.
Brilliant explanation of + & -‘s. I’ve been a Windows laptop user for 30y and also use iPad’s recent years for email, browsing, TH-cam, Netflix, A-Prime and now experimenting MS Office in iPad OS to see if I just need a new iPad (Pro) for one device and no longer need Windows laptop. I also use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop which may lend better to iOS? Thx for another great video
Great Video, Glad to see someone talk about PWM. I just recently found out that I’m very sensitive to it. Have been trying to get a new laptop, must new laptops have OLED and it has been a nightmare trying to fine one that don’t hurt my eyes. Any insight would be great.
The PWM is actually significant if you install Blackmagic Cam and adjust the shutter to 1/1000~1/8000. Personally my eyes feel fatigued quite soon when use it in the night, even with lamp lights on.
Interesting. That sounds like a good way to test it. However, I find there’s more eye strain from the mini LED version than the new OLED one for some reason and I’m not sure why just yet.
@@zollotech Finally found someone with same feeling about mini-LED vs. OLED! I also found the mini-LED on my MBP 14 to be more eye-straining than my M4 iPad Pro 13. However, from the PWM perspective, the mini-LED seems to have a higher HZ and should cause less eye strain. I did some research but can't find theory support. Overall, I can't use either of them at night, but during the day time, though OLED feels slightly better (I will return the iPad Pro for an iPad Air 13 tomorrow and see if the LCD is more eye friendly, given that it might be the last LCD Apple touch-screen device.
Comprehensive view of the main specs and how they upgrade and perform and it's a great device. But above all it's most useful when reviewing the operating system and where it's lacking as you stated because that's clearly the area where ipad users would gain the most benefit if that was more functional and so far M4 ipad is very expensive without solving this deficiency so it seems like there's little reason for a lot of people to upgrade until that changes. Even AI seems like a nice-to-have but far from essential reason to upgrade which will probably be exclusive to the M4 with the NPU component launching today.
actually, the fact that it’s so thin is one of my favorite things about it! Absolutely love holding it
Mine too. That’s a big selling point.

@@cbastien92not weird at all. Consumers having choices is good, no?
I mean for me I like the Ipad more than my phone to watch videos or play games if I'm at home. However that's of course personal preference haha. Also if you want to spend the extra money
@@Kev2000 oh yeah in that regard I totally agree
I upgraded from my M1 iPad Pro to the 2TB M4 iPad Pro (Standard Glass).. sure it's expensive but I'm planning to keep this for years to come. The one major difference which I'm enjoying is how light it is compared to the older M1. Also, I can see the difference having an OLED screen compared to the MiniLED.
Let’s hope we get significant iPadOS updates in a few weeks. Background processing while switching to another app, file management, and denser spacing for more widget options.
But it will probably just whatever the iPhone got….last year.
I think this might be my favourite Apple product ever. Still can’t believe how thin it is.
my m4 iPad Pro 11 I perfect. Pefect size for traveling. Perfect size for beating out quick words. Very happy with it.
Great video! Watched on my 12.9 inch M1 iPad Pro. Still very powerful and no need to upgrade for quite a while.
Great video as always. Keep it up😊
Hi Aaron, I would like if you can make a video of your favorite Apple product of each category that you use like a tech EDC setup and which Mac so you primarily use. It would help for Apple products decisions, thanks!
Not enough people talk about the lightness that comes with it being so thin. I love the fact that it is more portable, even with the new Magic Keyboard. The disadvantage of the thinness comes with the speakers having slightly less bass response compared to the previous generation.
I really love the nano texture. It looks super futuristic and expensive. The best tablet screen ever.
The decision to make the iPad thinner was definitely to support the Magic Keyboard balance. You get better angles, bigger trackpad and a function row. You either had to increase the weight of the keyboard or decrease the weight of the iPad.
finally the review i was waiting for. i think im gonna go ahead and upgrade. thanks for everything you do aaron
Best Vlog on the new iPad Pro M4 that I have watched. Thank you.👍👏👏👍
The exaggerated thinness of the tablet makes the pencil look even thicker. I agree, leaving the tablet thicker to make it easier to handle and a bigger battery would be a much better improvement.
I don’t think the thinness is a odd compromise but a great one it makes it lighter and more pleasant to hold, even the big one!
I just got the iPad Air 128GB space grey today!
Just get this when it on sale when the next ipad pro comes out. 40% off. Last ipad pro can be had for $550 right now at staples
Got the 1 TB 13”. It’s my first IPad Pro. I love it so far! Fanfreakingtastic!
I made the same purchase, love all the components, however, the ESC button seems that it does nothing
I’m gonna upgrade from a mid-2014 MacBook Pro, it’s gonna be amazing. Moving 10 years forward.
🙋♂️THANKS AARON FOR THE UPDATE 😎💚💚💚
A great holistic review & I think the M4 chip should give this longevity, so on & so forth. I would have like to see a larger battery & the camera still feels asymmetrical.. 👍
Coming from 9.7 IPad Pro, this tablet is different. It’s hard to explain. It could be just that its just newer to me but its feels great to use. I never thought I would buy the keyboard but it’s amazing.
I am really liking this performance on this M4 iPad Pro, nice video Aaron!
Excellent review and conclusion. I have the pro version, 1st generation and I don’t think I can upgrade yet. The difference is not huge.
My M1 which I traded in for the M4 was almost as good. The main difference is the OLED screen that's an improvement. For me, I dont use the iPad for watching movies or whatever, instead, I use it for business so its a bad sale for me. I regret the purchase.
Congratulations to you for being so honest. Unlike most of the Apple fan boys on You Tube.
I have the iPad Pro m2 12.9 can’t wait to upgrade
Waiting for the mini refresh 😍 hopefully this fall
The mini is always the last thought even though it's my favorite they never get love
The iPad mini is still a solid iPad to go travelling, etc
Rumors are the Mini won't be refreshed until 2026!
they still need to fix the bug when my iPad disconnects from monitor when battery is fully charged
You don’t have to buy the maxed out one. You can always buy the base models or the non nano version. I have the 13 inch 5g 512gb version. To me it’s just the right size storage. It’s a pity it doesn’t have at least 12gb of ram
Well worth your review thanks 😎
The new Magic Keyboard is dope with the function row I wish they did that on the prior version
Good video. I have iPad Pro 13 inch M4. What I would like is a desktop like the Mac. An iPad desktop when to can park current work etc.
OLED plays well with high refresh rates because of super fast response times.
I prefer the thinner design and lighter weight. One of the main reasons I upgraded was the awesome OLED display. Agree that iPad OS needs a finder-type files app.
The front facing camera does lower resolution because it's capable of Center Stage.
Great video Aaron! I really enjoyed it
As far as the thickness goes, I was watching another review and I think they hit the nail on the head - this iPad Pro 13” is thinner and lighter than the previous versions, which makes it easier to hold in your hand for longer periods of time. Yes I would have loved more battery but the trade-off as far as weight and thickness would make it harder to hold for longer periods. As far as iPadOS vs. MacOS, people you are just going to have to move past that. I just don’t see them changing it but iPadOS has gotten better over time.
I actually find it less comfortable to hold due to the thinness.
Need full versions of MS Office apps. Can't install add-ons and some advanced features are missing.
I appreciate the thinness. I am old in my wrist and fingers cannot take the weight.
5:25 i think it feels more smooth because the "old" mini led display hat a 50milli-second reaction time, and the new oled has a 5 mili-second reaction time iirc
Where did you get this information?
@@brahmy8503 Google: iPad Pro oled reaction time.
Some articles cover that.
TH-cam does not let me poste a link
Not sure where that spec came from, but the human brain really can't tell the difference between 5 and 50ms really. I think they have the capability to use 120Hz with less power in the M4.
@@zollotech IMO you realize the difference between 5 millisecond and 50 millisecond.
It starts alone with Internet speed / gaming.
What I also noticed that my 15 Pro max feels more responsive than my 12.9 6th gen.
I have a iPad Pro M4 11” and find the battery drain is unreal having to charge twice a day with around 4 hours on screen time
As most watched the keynote, we know it will be expensive.
Love your videos friend keep up
I don't think the thinness is the problem for grip, it's the small bezels. I want to hold it with one hand and draw with the other; even with the 11 inch the bezel doesn't have enough leverage to hold from one side. It would be okay if they added "thumb rejection" so I can grip over the screen and not have the touch interfere with the pencil.
Watching this on my very, very capable 9th gen iPad for $249. Never feels slow or warms up.
iPadOS's inability to handle multiple audio streams is really a non-starter for me.
Next year (or a few years down the road) this chassis will be called ipad air and a thicker chassis may appear (with larger battery) called ipad pro. Then the "air" name will only finally make sense...
I updated from my 2020 A12Z iPad Pro
Noticed in store that this iPad has a circle loading icon before the main screen comes on, my iPad Pro 10.5 doesn’t have that delay., instantly on when home button pushed.
Thank you for the great review Aaron - I hope to hear more about iPad OS at WWDC to better understand the strategy Apple has, to explain the rush to the M4 chip. My guess is that this platform will be the first to locally host AI capabilities of some sort.
I have a 2018 and 2020 iPad Pro. Those are still overkill for me lol. Enjoy.
A whole week. That’s cute. iPad has been my main device for everything since 2011
Well, it’s only been out that long. But I’ve been using an iPad since the original. I love them.
@@zollotech I love them too. I was the only kid in my nursing classes using only an iPad in 2011-14.
I can't wait to receive my 13", 2TB, space black, iPad Pro with the nano texture in a little more than a week!!!
I like that you put what chapter number and name is next on the bottom left
You should do it for all ur videos
I have iPad Air 4 and MacBook Pro from 2019 and I'm thinking of buying the new iPad Pro m4 to replace both, just waiting for iPadOS 18 for the final decision. When I am at home, I use an iMac, and while traveling, instead of bringing two devices I would only take the iPad Pro.
Ipad Pro M4 11 or 13, which is better for students- mainly use for note taking and online classes
I luv watching your videos, you explain everything, I like the wallpaper, where can I get the link to download it?
Great Video, Glad to see someone talk about PWM. I just recently found out that I’m very sensitive to it. Have been trying to get a new laptop, must new laptops have OLED and it has been a nightmare trying to fine one that don’t hurt my eyes. Any insight would be great.
just sold my ipad pro 11inch m2 256gb with pencil for 840usd and now going to buy new ipad pro m4 11 cellular.
The OS hasen't changed at all other than the Apple Pencil changes. So there wasn't anything worth mentioning that way. Hopefully something soon.
