- The royal palace of Pandalam located on the banks of Achankovil river was the residence of royal family members. The architectural mixtures of both Pandyas and Keralites can be witnessed in any corner of the palace. Mud, bamboo, stone and wood are the mostly used construction components in the old structures. It was in this palace that lord Ayyappa spent his childhood. In course of time, many parts of the palace were taken away by minor conflagrations and floods. But quite a few structures like Valiyakoikkal temple, Kaipuzha temple and Thevarappura remains still which depicts the ancient history and archaeological importance.

The prayer rooms or Thevarappuras of both Vadakkekottaram and Nalukettu palaces structured elegantly in wood are still in unblemished condition which keeps the idols of 28 gods and goddess for worshipping. The Pandiyan relation of Pandalam kingdom can easily be noticed from the presence of Minakshi amman idol.
Srampical palace
The palace is placed in the north of Valiyakoikkal temple. The Thiruvabharanam (sacred ornaments) of lord Ayyappa are kept here. Pilgrims have the opportunity to worship the ornaments and to view the holy palanquin at times of Mandala - Makaravilakku period. These ornaments are taken out on the morning of 28th Dhanu then moved to the temple and later to Sabarimala temple in a holy procession.
Puthenkoikkal
This building is situated near a pond. The pond was once meant for bathing purposes of ladies in the palace. The raja on his way to Sabarimala with the sacred ornaments used to halt at this palace to receive the Vibhuti and blessings of Valiya thamburatti (senior most female member).

കെട്ടി ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ കഥകൾ എല്ലാം ഇപ്പോൾ വരുന്നതാണ് ശബരിമലയിൽ വരുമാനം കൂടിയപ്പോൾഒരൻ പതു വർഷം മുമ്പുള്ള കഥകൾ എല്ലാം സത്യമായ കഥകൾ ആയിരുന്നു. ഇനി എന്തെല്ലാം കേൾക്കാൻ ഇരിക്കുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രം രണ്ടു പ്രാവശ്യം കത്തിച്ചല്ലോ. പൂജാരിയെയും കൊന്നു എന്താ ഒരു പോലീസ് കേസ് പോലും ഇല്ലാത്തതു അപ്പോൾ മനസിലാകും ഇതിന്റെ ഒക്കെ പിന്നിൽ ഉള്ളത് ചില്ലറ കരല്ലെന്നു

പണ്ട് കാലത്ത് ഇതേ കഥ മുത്തപ്പൻ്റെ ഇതിവൃതത്തിലും കേട്ടിരുന്നു പിന്നെ 1900 നു മുൻപ് ഇറങ്ങിയ പുസ്തകങ്ങളിൽ ശഭരിമല മലഅരയ വിഭാഗവും ആയി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് അവരുടെ ആരാധനാലയം ആയി ആണ് രെഗപ്പെടുതിയിരിക്കുന്നത് പിന്നെ അവർ ഭൂരി ഭാഗവും ക്രിസ്തു മതത്തിലേക്ക് പരിവർത്തനം ചെയ്തു എന്നും അതിൻ്റെ ഉടമസ്ഥാവകാശം സായിപ്പിന് കൊടുത്തു എന്നും പിന്നെ അവർ അത് പന്തളം കൊട്ടാരത്തിന് കൊടുത്തു എന്നും പറയുന്നു വാവർ എന്ന സങ്കൽപ്പം മല അരയറിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല പിന്നെ 1900 നു മുൻപ് നടത്തിയ ഗവേഷണങ്ങളിൽ എവിടെയും നായരോ തിയ്യരോ ഈഴവരോ നമ്പൂതിരിയോ കമ്മലരോ മുക്കുവരോ അയ്യപ്പനെ ആരാധിച്ചതായോ ശബരിമല ചടങ്ങിനെ പറ്റിയോ എവിടെയും പരാമർശിച്ചിട്ടില്ല പിന്നെ തിയ്യരിലെ ഒരു ശാക്തെയ വിധി പ്രകാരം ഉള്ള ഒരു ദൈവ സങ്കൽപ്പം ആയിരുന്നു മുത്തപ്പൻ പിന്നെ നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകൾ ആയി നിലനിന്നിരുന്ന മുത്തപ്പൻ ആചാര രീതികളുമായി ശബരിമല ചടങ്ങിനും ചില സ്വാതിനം തോന്നുന്നുണ്ട് മുത്തപ്പൻ്റെ ആരൂഢ സ്ഥാനമായ കുന്നത്തൂർ പാടി തുറക്കുന്നതും ഒരു മാസം മാത്രമാണ് പിന്നെ പുത്തരി വെള്ളാട്ടം എന്ന ഒരു മുത്ത പ്പൻ സംങ്ങൽപ്പവും ആയി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ചടങ്ങ് നടക്കുന്നത് മണ്ഡല കാലത്ത് ആണ് പിന്നെ മുത്തപ്പൻ്റെ പൊടിമീശ കാലഗട്ടം ആണ് ഇപ്പോളത്തെ അയ്യപ്പൻ എന്നും ചിലർ പറയുന്നത് കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്
പിന്നെ ശബരിമലയിൽ പൂജ ചെയ്യാൻ അവകാശം കിട്ടിയ നമ്പൂതിരിമാർ മുത്തപ്പൻ്റെ കഥ ഇതിവൃത്തം ആക്കി അയ്യനാർ എന്ന തമിൾ നാട്ടിലെയും തെക്കൻ കേരളത്തിലെയും ഒരു ദൈവത്തെ കൂടുതൽ മലയാള ബ്രാഹ്മണ വൽകരിച്ച് അയ്യപ്പൻ എന്ന ഒരു പുതിയ ദൈവ സങ്കൽപ്പം ഉണ്ടാക്കി ചടങ്ങുകൾ കൂടുതൽ ബ്രാഹ്മണ വൽകരിച്ചുത് പോലെയുണ്ട്

@@laijupk1085 Sir, The British Missionaries who have converted the 'Hill-Tribes or Mala-Arayan Tribals' to Christianity have stated themselves that they were worshiping "demons" and that they have destroyed the Idols that they were worshiping in the process of converting them to Christianity in their own historical accounts.
There are many temples in Kerala whose presiding deity is Lord Ayyappa, the most famous among them being the Sabarimala temple which is 1 among the 108 Shastha temples of Kerala (Malabar) as consecrated by 'Parashurama' in which Lord Ayyappa (Shastha) is a 'Naishtika Brahmachari' (celibate), and the 'Prince Manikanda' who was raised by the royal family of Pandya dynasty who have emigrated to Pandalam in Kerala (Malabar) under the sanction of the then sovereign of Venadu (i.e Venattudayavar, Venattadikal etc as is recorded in the copper-plate writing) is believed to be the incarnation of 'Lord Shastha' (Ayyappa) in Kali Yuga and similarly, according to the folk songs of the 'Hill-Tribes or Mala-Arayan Tribals', they have also migrated to the forests of Kerala (Malabar) from Madurai (Tamil Nadu) due to political compulsion there like the royal family of Pandya dynasty who have emigrated to Poonjar in Kerala (Malabar) and acquired land from the then sovereign of Thekkumkur (i.e Venpalanattudayavar or Dakshina Bimbali in Sanskrit) as according to the Poonjar covenant of 1419 C.E.
The term 'Ayyappa, Ayyanar etc' in the dravidian languages of South India as depicting a Brahmachari (celibate), a Grihastha (w/ Poorna and Pushkala) etc are denoting the various avatars or incarnations of 'Lord Shastha' (i.e Ayyappa, Ayyanar etc) or 'Hariharaputhra' meaning 'the son of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva' in the Brahmanda Purana.
The term 'Shastha' meaning 'Lord, Ruler, Teacher etc' in Sanskrit is transliterated as 'Chaathan or Saathan' in the Dravidian languages and similarly, the term 'Arya' meaning 'Noble, Honourable, Lord etc' in Sanskrit is transliterated as 'Ayyan or Aiyar' in the dravidian languages including Kannada and one of the Earliest reference to Lord Shastha (i.e Ayyappa, Ayyanar etc) as 'Hariharasutha' meaning 'the son of Hari (Lord Vishnu) and Hara (Lord Shiva)' in South India is accredited to the 7th Century Vellalan poet of Tamil Nadu known as 'Appar' as according to historians.

അയ്യപ്പൻ ഒരു ചരിത്ര പുരുഷൻ അല്ലെ നയിഷ്ടിക ബ്രഹ്മ ചാരി ആയിരുന്നു ശാസ്താവോ രണ്ടു ഭാര്യമാരുള്ള പുരാണ പുരുഷൻ.. നയിഷ്ടിക ബ്രഹ്മചാരി ആയ അയ്യപ്പനെ ഭാര്യാ സമേതനായ ശാസ്താവിൽ ലയിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് എന്തു നീതിയ എന്തു യുക്തിയ അതിലുള്ളത്.. പുരോഹിത വർഗ്ഗത്തിന് അയ്യപ്പന്റെ മൂല മന്ത്രമോ പൂജയോ അറിഞ്ഞു കൂട അതുകൊണ്ട് അവിടെ ഒരു ലയിപ്പിക്കൽ. അതിലും വിശേഷം ശബരിമല ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാന നിർണയം നടത്തിയതുമുതൽ എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങളും പാടിയുടെ എണ്ണം മാളിക പുറത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം കൊച്ചു കടുത്ത വലിയ കടുത്ത ഇവർക്കെല്ലാം സ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ നിച്ചയിച്ചു നൽകിയതും അയ്യപ്പൻ തന്നെയാണ്. അയ്യപ്പൻ അവിടെ ശാസ്താവിനെ പ്രതിഷ്ടിച്ചതായിട് ഒരു തെളിവും ഇല്ലാതാനും. പിന്നെ ആരുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ടായിലാണ് അയ്യപ്പൻ ലയിച്ചത്. വെറുതെ ഓരോ തട്ടിപ്പു കഥകൾ.. അയ്യപ്പന്റെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയുടെ മുമ്പിൽ ശാസ്താവിന്റ പൂജ ചെയ്‌താൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനു തീ പിടിക്കും പുല്ലുമേഡ് ദുരന്തങ്ങളും വെടികെട്ടു അപകടങ്ങളും കണ്ടരാര് മോഹനരുടെ അതിക്രമങ്ങളും സ്ത്രീ പ്രവേശന വിലകിനെതിരെ സർക്കാർ നടപടി മൂലം ലക്ഷ കണക്കിനുള്ള അയ്യപ്പഭക്തർക്കുണ്ടായ ദ്ദുരനുഭവം ഇതൊക്കെസംഭവിക്കും ആയിരിക്കും ഫലം എന്തായാലും ധർമ ശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രം എന്ന ഒരു ബോർഡ്‌ അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത് എടുത്തു മാറ്റിയല്ലോ. വലിയ കാര്യം

Sir, There are many temples in Kerala whose presiding deity is Lord Ayyappa, the most famous among them being the Sabarimala temple which is 1 among the 108 Shastha temples of Kerala (Malabar) as consecrated by 'Parashurama' in which Lord Ayyappa (Shastha) is a 'Naishtika Brahmachari' (celibate), and the 'Prince Manikanda' who was raised by the royal family of Pandya dynasty who have emigrated to Pandalam in Kerala (Malabar) under the sanction of the then sovereign of Venadu (i.e Venattudayavar, Venattadikal etc as is recorded in the copper-plate writing) is believed to be the incarnation of 'Lord Shastha' (Ayyappa) in Kali Yuga and similarly, according to the folk songs of the 'Hill-Tribes or Mala-Arayan Tribals', they have also migrated to the forests of Kerala (Malabar) from Madurai (Tamil Nadu) due to political compulsion there like the royal family of Pandya dynasty who have emigrated to Poonjar in Kerala (Malabar) and acquired land from the then sovereign of Thekkumkur (i.e Venpalanattudayavar or Dakshina Bimbali in Sanskrit) as according to the Poonjar covenant of 1419 C.E.
The term 'Ayyappa, Ayyanar etc' in the dravidian languages of South India as depicting a Brahmachari (celibate), a Grihastha (w/ Poorna and Pushkala) etc are denoting the various avatars or incarnations of 'Lord Shastha' (i.e Ayyappa, Ayyanar etc) or 'Hariharaputhra' meaning 'the son of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva' in the Brahmanda Purana.
The term 'Shastha' meaning 'Lord, Ruler, Teacher etc' in Sanskrit is transliterated as 'Chaathan or Saathan' in the Dravidian languages and similarly, the term 'Arya' meaning 'Noble, Honourable, Lord etc' in Sanskrit is transliterated as 'Ayyan or Aiyar' in the dravidian languages including Kannada and one of the Earliest reference to Lord Shastha (i.e Ayyappa, Ayyanar etc) as 'Hariharasutha' meaning 'the son of Hari (Lord Vishnu) and Hara (Lord Shiva)' in South India is accredited to the 7th Century Vellalan poet of Tamil Nadu known as 'Appar' as according to historians.
