Hi BJosepher. Awesome DIY video. I'm planning to remove my S2000 to install the Spoon rigid bushing. Is it possible to remove the rack without removing the inner tie rod? Or is it better just to pop the tie rod ball joint and remove the whole thing? Thanks
You could keep the tie rod ends assembled and remove them from the knuckle ... I had to replace mine anyway so I removed the inners from the outer, leaving the outer attached to the knuckle still just to minimize any issue I may have removing it...
great information. I might need to replace mine. I cant turn my wheel right now after parking it last time i drove it. do you think the rack would be the issue?
I've never seen that specifically but the best way to test would be to isolate the column from the rack, maybe unbolt the 4 mounting bolts and try to disconnect the coupler for the input shaft, the ln see if the steering wheel moves at that point.
my guess would be something binding internally, but ultimately make sure there is nothing externally binding... the directional thing makes me believe it may be an issue with the EPS
I didn't have to... I haven't fug into the system too much but it could indicate a mechanical bind somewhere else or maybe an electronic issue elsewhere in the system
I'm not understanding the question, this was a direct swap so I didn't have to wire anything but all the cables I had to deal with should be addressed in the video
Hello did you buy this part new or used? and where if you dont mind me asking. just bought an ap1 and it looks like i need to replace mine! awesome video!
I actually got the part on eBay, seemed to really be the best market for them, as stores like advance or AutoZone either didn't have a listing or it was out of stock. ebay.com/usr/taeusedautoparts813 This is who I got mine from and they were helpful with answering a couple questions before I completed the order.
My understanding is that they are interchangeable... same size, mounting, etc... however the steering ratios are different, the ap1 having a quicker ratio better for tighter more technical steering where the ap2 has a slightly slower ratio, better for higher speeds. That being said I have never personally tried the swap but have read several posts and threads where people have swapped, or even have one of each for different tracks and steering situations.
Good video man, I just subbed..
Appreciate that, should be a bunch more coming

@@BILLT_YT my steering wheel gets hard to turn with rotating it clockwise only. I can hear my car try moving it but it, same with when the car is off.

when replacing the rack with a used one do you have to do any programing because I replaced mine and still won't turn.

you know if your able to replace only the sensor instead of whole rack
@Reb Khosh I have heard of it being done but haven't done it myself
How to connect the wires to batteries for the rock and pinion from rps box

do you know if there's any issues with installing ap1 rack on a ap2? I read that ap1 racks can go on 04-05. ( I have an 05 ) THANK YOU!
