Looks like a quality RTT, very interesting to know it holds up in the windy conditions. I am now interested in this RTT for the price. I had a Dune swag for years with no issues
Hey mate, top job as usual. I had a look in one at anaconda today then saw your review lol. Might be a sign. I have an old kings pop up.(The plastic ones that crack in the corners of the shell). They are great but need a fly off the upper shell so you can keep the side windows open during rain. I liked that this one has the shell hang over to give some shelter climbing in and out. Nothing worse than trying to get my daughter out for a pee in the rain at 3 in the morning lol. I noticed the drifter one has a fly option, which would be good on those nights. Obviously it's always the trade off between ease of set up vs luxuries. Anyway the kings one is coming off for maintenance and may get upgraded to one of these as the shell looks better quality. Cheers for the review, happy camping.
Great review on a great looking tent. I have the soft cover 140 Nomad which I'm extremely happy with but if I was read and able to upgrade, I'd would definitely give this one a go! I love the fact that it has the option for roof racks which I don't have at the moment. It would be great to be able to carry some surfboards or a similar.
Good vid Dan. There is one feature of this style of roof top tent that would stop me from buying one. The fact that your partner has to climb over you to get out. Maybe that is only a problem for us oldies.
i just bought the 1.4 drfita wildlands rtt and and paid 3200 for it and the outside shell look exactly the same as this one, except for the obvious differences. now i really wish i waited for this video.
Hi Mate Quick question When the water/rain runs down the external walls will it pool there or is there some sort of channel that moves it out? It seems that it runs into the bottom shell !
Thanks there reviews are very good. You might have said it, but I must've missed it. Does the bedding, including pillows fit comfortably when you shut it up?
So basically, it’s the same tent as the original. All they have done is put a hardtop on it. My only concern here is. It looks like the fabric is attached to the roof with cord, rather than zipped as the more expensive model out there. I have the original and I love it. Not sure if it worth upgrading just for easy of setup
Is there a weight rating for the tent itself (not the roof its mounted on) and the ladder that comes with it? Given the limited extra foot room you had at 6'2 I don't think I'll get one, but curious all the same.
Hi mate, looking to get one of these on my volvo xc60, just want to know the roof racks are rated 100kgs, when the car is stationary, having me & my wife in the tent will weight around 150kgs +the weight of the tent, will that be ok for the roof rack to support it?
Yep currently testing out a San Hima Kalbarri Mk2 because it has rear access which works better for my setup - will be putting together a review once I've used it on a few trips to be able to give real-world feedback. 🙂
Nice review Daniel. Great to see the channel coming along with a refresh. 👌How does the new Dmax go on fuel economy and what is the fully loaded weight?
Thanks mate! The Dmax uses a bit more fuel than I was hoping, it averaged 14.9L/100km on our trip through the Pilbara and gets about 11L/100km around town - this should come down with a remap though. Weight wise she's sitting at 2.84t fully loaded.
How does this compare with the much cheaper Kings Kwiky MKII Hard Shell Rooftop Tent?? The price difference is huge... the Kings tent is about $1,400 cheaper! Apart from little things like the shoe bag and interior lighting, I can't see much difference. The Kings is actually more aerodynamic.
Hey thanks for the review Dan! You mentioned you might be able to mount accessories to this tent from other similar tents. Have you given this a go? I have one but lost the bracket for mounting the roof racks but Anaconda don't sell them separately!
Not yet but I'm just about to order some Drifta awning brackets so fingers crossed! My mate has a Drifta tent and we've looked at them closely side by side and they look idental. 🙂
Hey mate, love the content. Just a quick one, how does the rooftop tent go in terms of condensation? Have you had any issues with condensation or has it been pretty good so far? Cheers :)
Great vid! Any hacks on this tent you can share? I've got the TGT model. Nearly identical. Looking for solution to keep windows open whilst in rain? Do you have issues with the struts not holding up? Thanks 👍
@@craigcranko yeah it's served me well. About to upgrade the struts as they struggle with a solar panel, but other than that it's great. Super roomy. I'd also recommend the awning that you can get. It's excellent. Provides way more cover from the elements.
@@kentwillis yep, the annex looks perfect, not as complicated as the Annaconda one and i see TGT do strut locks for use with the awning. (supply them as standard after 2022). I'm surprised that it supports a solar panel while opening. is that a full size panel?
@@craigcranko yeah the strut braces help (they sent me some) but there's 4 struts and the braces are only for the top struts. I'm going to juice the struts up a bit to make life a bit easier.
Serious question, where can I get another set of bars for the top of this tent? Had this tent for about a year, and the two rails are OK, but another set would be so much handier
My experience with the TGT version is no. I've got a 160watt solar panel on mine and it struggles to get up. Strut braces supplied help but I'm going to juice up my struts to help
Hey mate, just purchased this and was looking at getting a 270 awning mounted aswell. Is this something that is doable because the rooftop does take a lot of space up on the racks?
Hey mate, it depends if you have room to mount the awning brackets under the tent. If not, you could look at getting 3 brackets similar to these that connect to the tent (these are for the Drifta tents, but they look the same to me): www.drifta.com.au/product/reinforced-awning-bracket/
Feedback noted - but just felt like I should take the blame for this one. I’m usually telling Daniel not to go up at the end of sentences, so I feel like this is my doing! 😅 Poor guy is being told how to talk from every direction and we’ve lost how to talk normally 😂
every single segment you deliver the sentence and your tone drops off. goes lower at the end of *every single one* it's so distracting 5:55 starts a run of them. and the one before you did it too
You must be an airplane Host / Hostess !!!! The way you speak, You forgot about where oxygen drops from the roof and where life jackets are stowed !!!!! 🤨
Great video and very informative but Christ sake can you not taper off your voice like that. Sounds like I'm listening to the safety demonstration before you take off in a plane

Other review sites people complain of internal condensation and it wetting the mattress. Have you found this a problem?
Thanks for the review. We are looking to get a rtt very soon!😊😊😊
can this mount straight to unistrut or does it need racks? intetested to see your custom mounting solution.

hey mate another informative vid! Can I ask what brand that USB hub is and where you purchased?
Great review hope anaconda are helping you out .... I think you may have sold me 👍🤣🤙
Great review! Love the content. Do you reckon you could swap the mattress to a self inflating one? To get a thicker one?

Have you actually measured the width? Surely it's closer to 150 wide. I think the website has the wrong measurements on it.
It's 1400 internal width, outside is a bit over 1500

Hey mate, love the content. Just a quick one, how does the rooftop tent go in terms of condensation? Have you had any issues with condensation or has it been pretty good so far? Cheers :)

I've got a spare set. Where are you located?
So… it’s a Wild Land Rock Cruiser tent, yeah?
Hey mate, which rtt would you rate higher, the DUNE or San Hima??
Hey mate! They both have their pros and cons but for my parner and I the Dune model is better suited due to the extra width and space inside. 🙂
Did you install awning onto the tent?
No the awning is installed to the roof of the canopy, the brackets go under the tent
So does this have the same floor as your old tent with slats or is it a solid floor ?
They have slats mate

I like the looks off these but at 94kg on top of the car means I can’t put anything else on the roof.
It’s 75kg not 94 (1:40) 🙂
Opps I miss read the information or I got my self confused while I was working out roof weights
