The producers got him from behind the desk and onto the stage with great results, it's time they do more field pieces. They're a welcome change of format. I can only hear so many peetape and Mueller jokes before retching.
i second that! so true that his greatest gift is being wasted for the most part on monologues and interviews. his most edgy work so far was with colbert report, but the work that i always found the funniest was the original daily show remotes, when he was perfectly playing the serious looking tv journalist with a surrealist line of questioning. also back then the daily show had a more loose feeling, so they gave him a long leash, resulting in some of the funniest stuff ever. id love to see that again. and as great he is at format, i think he shines the most when improvising. more remotes!
