Martin, this video just saved me a bunch of time and about a full cord of over-length firewood. Thank you!

I purchased a cabin and have been heating with wood for 3 years thus far and couldn't agree more about the plastic sheeting or tarp methods. I've completed one metal roofed shed and in the process of building another. I'd do what you have done however I too have a efficient (re burning) stove (read:small) requiring me to cut my logs down to 12-13 inches. These make for tipsy stacks as the wood dries on the sunny side faster and I pull directly from the outdoor stacks in the winter so I feel I need independently supported roofing sheets. I'll take some photos once I have figured the most efficient method of constructing these as my time is torn between slap-dashing racks together and producing volume for next year. I'm hoping to get some reasonable under roof storage built this coming Spring.

If the frame didn't have the top piece, could you have just cut them all down the middle? Otherwise what to do with all the small offcuts.

I will use the off cuts to burn in my chiminea! They'll be perfect.

What kind of saw was the bigger Stihl?

The saw used in shortening wood was a Stihl MS 044 with a Stihl brand chisel chain.
