    @gsc512 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

    But you have to ask yourself how much of this is actually because of new government mandates for the safety of vehicles and also government monitoring of drivers such as driver, alertness and vehicles that tail on their owners etc. That that all cost money and all has to be tied into costly electronics. And so why would you produce something that is basic when you're going to essentially just lose money on it. You're not in business to lose money. You're in business to make money. You wouldn't be called a business. If you weren't it'd be called the charity😅
    The bureaucracy is the problem in the United States like the EPA you can't build a house without getting 900,000 permits in some areas and so your permits and everything cost as much as your construction supplies. So how are you supposed to build something affordable when they want just as much for the abstract as they want for the physical supplies that build the home. You can't. And this is unelected officials that are able to do this in the United States. Everybody is wondering why everything costs so much. 😅
    It's about supply versus demand and if you can lock up supply you'll drive up the cost because they'll be too much demand and too little supply. But if you dump a whole bunch onto the market like you make it easier to build these homes and to easier to build these cars vehicles then you'll ramp up supply which will drive down demand and it'll lower the overall cost because the only way you can make money is to have a product that comes in at a lower cost than the next guy.
    But the US doesn't do this anymore because most Americans don't even want to work. And there's so much bureaucracy in the system that it's taxes that aren't disclosed to the public. That's essentially what mandated safety features and environmental protection features are is unvoted for taxation. Essentially what started this nation was taxation without representation. How do you have representation in the EPA?

    Greed had lead to the downfall of MANY companies. I've been in the full service restaurant industry since 1981, and I've seen Steak and Ale, Sambo's, Denny's, Chili's, Outback, Red Lobster, and a host of others either go out of business or severely cut back operations due to corporate greed.
    Argue "it's the economy" all you've want, but I've seen it from the inside. Poor management decisions where they cut corners on quality's for a 1% profit increase, but then drive away their customer base who don't want their garbage. The good servers see their income decline, then they leave.
    I also sold cars in the early 2000s, and the greed was just as prevalent then. Eventually they will either bend or break.

    At the end of the day, it's quite simple. Buy a car with a long-term reliable reputation, if you haven't already. Stay away from turbos. Find a car that you can personally learn to maintain relatively easily. They are hard to find these days, but they're out there. Maintain everything on schedule. Power steering fluid, fuel filter, spark plugs, clean the throttle intake, EGR valve, struts, tie rods, EVERYTHING. Keep your maintenance strictly on schedule, don't drive like a speed demon, and enjoy your car for the next 40 years. It will feel like an outdated clunker for a while, until it starts nearing its 30-year mark, at which time it will probably be a "trendy" old vehicle.
    Give yourself this goal... Get that coveted "antique" license plate.
    If you keep your car for decades, and save the $550 a month average used car payment, over the next 20 years you will save at least $132,000. That's not adjusting for inflation.

    You always say these brands will go out of business, but they won't. Most people don't know much about cars. As long as these companies keep changing the designs and make them look good, people will go buy them. There is always a NEED for people to go buy a car of their own because it symbolizes wealth and status. They don't care whats on the inside as long as the car runs. If there is a warranty, the dealer will fix it. And businesses will always buy cars from these brands because it's a tax write off for them. So yeah, these car brands will never go out of business.

Car sales were good for Nixon's first term But Watergate changed all that. So Helfman Pontiac folded. Dad went to the rival but sales blew as recession marked Nixon last years. By the time Ford's stagflation hit, he was already trained for HVAC and became a building engineer. But wanted "Someday" to have a "TNT" lot again. So, Brandon you are living my late Father's dream! Granted, once dealer got a hold of the Maverick they jacked the price up but even then it was still less then half the price of most other trucks out there. If someone came out with a good cheap car or truck some people might even buy it new instead of spending $15,000 on something used. Just make it where dealers can't jack up the price.

    Back when GM and Ford said they weren't going to make cars anymore and only have SUV's and Trucks and then both decided EV's were the way to go i just laughed. How much of the EV Koolaid can you drink at one time, it was ALWAYS going to be the early adopters and those that wanted to take advantage of government subsidies, those products are SUPER OVERPRICED and the infrastructer isn't there yet ON TOP of the fact the tech isn't ready yet for the general public. But what REALLY got me is that these fools decided they would get rid of the entry level products that engender product loyalty and create a feeling so they could build for A TINY SUBSET OF THE POPULATION. They both got rid of cars which of course HOW MANY 10's of MILLIONS OF PEOPLE STILL DRIVE? These morons all decided to sell to the wealthy and super wealthy and forgot the business they are in ON TOP OF the failed engineering of how many of their vehicles that cause all the recalls they have. Still driving my 2013 Ford Edge (80k miles) and i won't be replacing it until i absolutely need one or it falls apart and i can tell you flat out, i AM NOT spending 50k-100k for a new vehicle, what a joke. I would love to replace it with another Forde Edge...but can't do that because Ford just discontinued it AFTER PUSHING BACK it's end of production 3 times because they were selling so many of them, are there ANY PEOPLE at Ford or GM that have a clue what the general public wants or needs? Guess where all that business is going? NOT GM AND FORD.

    Some of the Japanese car makers are doing things customers don't want. Like installing CVT transmissions that they buy from other companies. But in general they aren't as overpriced and filled with overly complex and failure prone systems as American made cars are. Modern cars are filled with systems that eventually fail and are expensive to replace. Like HVAC controls and actuators that fail. They should offer cable controlled slides and dials to control the airflow that almost never fails. Get rid of $7K tail lights that aren't even available that fog up and fail. The list is long.
