Nice sound effects! The wire that runs behind the left/right mech is the spring. It has just the right amount of tension to kinda hold the eyes in place at the extreme left and right position and after a few bumps within the game, it centers itself again. When the plastic diverter wears on the backside where the wire rides, it will no longer hold at the extreme left or right. Great video! It takes a lot of the scariness out of RUDY for the unseasoned tech! I took Rudy apart for the first time about 31 years ago. Nothing wrong, I just wanted to see how he worked, hahaha!
FLAW2K8 I ain't scared of Rudy, whether he has the cover on or off. He actually looks relaxed when his face comes off.
Thanks again for posting this! Last week my Rudy stopped closing this eyes. I ended up replacing both the eyes open and eyes closed coils. Your video game me a nice boost of confidence in getting the various pieces apart and back together. Thankfully Rudy is back to his old self once again!

That'd freak me right out with his eyes open all the time!
I'm a bit confused on what coils one should use in rudy's head. The manual says four 30-900. However my haed has one 31-900 coil mounted vertically. Any advise which one I should use? The 31-900 on my has melted plastic inside the inner tube.
That thing is terrifying.
And I thought Rudy was scary with his face on!
