I’m an East Londoner and I’m old enough to remember when Canary Wharf tower was the only skyscraper there. When the area was being developed the people of Tower Hamlets (the borough in which the development sits) were promised luxury housing and jobs. Suffice it to say the housing was too expensive and the jobs mainly went to people from outside Tower Hamlets. So this area is pretty much only for high earners and it completely lacks the character of other areas in London like Camden Town, Covent Garden, Borough Market, Brick Lane, Spitalfields, Shaftesbury Avenue, Soho, Shoreditch, Greenwich, Clapham, Brixton, Richmond, Notting Hill, Hampstead Heath, Stoke Newington etc.
I work in Canary Wharf and I must say that at first it was a dream to work within the area, but over time it got dull and boring seeing the same old things again and again, although getting to work early in the morning during the winter period is nice, seeing the lights from the buildings and breathing is the cool cold air and walking in Canary Wharf in the dark whiles listening to music. Not so bad, but yeah pretty much boring once you get used to the area and have been working there for a year or more
Both my gf and I work at CW, we decided to live in Isle of Dogs as it is mostly recent and very close to work. At first it was quite nice but it’s rather dull and I’d actually advise against living there if you’re in your 20s and don’t work insane hours
Some people, who don't actually work in CW, say its a bit sterile and soulless. Personally, I like the corporate aesthetic and love having an office there.
Nice video. Coming with my startup company this year. Looking also an apartment in wardian or landmark pinnacle. In my opinion it is expensive place, but one of the best in London city :)
London is an amazing city because there are many things to do, to see, to eat and a great and diverse architecture. Definitely, London is where old meets new 😉
Jacob, could you maybe do a sort of day in the life of eating , like a breakfast for work and how to manage that side of things. i can cook but my flat's kitchen is a bit messy so trying to work around that haha
Love the idea man! Will absolutely do a video on that. It’s taken me a long time to figure out the best foods to make in a time efficient manner. FYI my kitchen is v messy too haha
@@jacobphillips1 haha great. Glad to hear I’m not the only one. Just moved in a few days ago and the thought of making certain foods is making me feel I’ll so looks like it’ll be oven food 😂
Interesting info. Didn't know that it's owned by a corporation and privately owned.... Interesting. Means it can be more productive then and money saving etc.
Awesome, let me know how it goes. There are plenty of Indian restaurants. I haven’t tried any in Canary Wharf but I did a video on some great restaurants there
But, don't forget, according to security staff and the Metropolitan Police, it's against the law to photograph or video record anything in Canary Wharf.
So, the police and all the security staff in Canary Wharf believe in myths and are willing to use myths as laws to prosecute innocent, law abiding citizens? Interesting.@@jacobphillips1

It is so beautiful big business district in Canary Wharf straightaway to financial district in City of London.
Who needs NYC when there’s Canary Wharf?

I love Canary Wharf. I moved to Canary Wharf 3 years ago and don’t want to move out.
Oh wow! I would love to live there. Do you recommend any apartment blocks?
@@jacobphillips1 Those new builds such as Wardian, SQP and landmark are very nice. Third space has a massive gym there. I love this area.
@@wy2528third space used to be £160 per month back in 2019, looks like prices have rocketed post Covid

Nice and clean

I used to work at Canary Wharf.
All's good, but there was an incident where salt shakers and tin men insulted each other, that was weird and scary.
Yeah Canary Wharf is a really cool place and it’s quite peaceful

Very interesting, that’s a reason why it’s so clean there
Where do bankers have lunch in Canary Wharf? I am hoping to meet a banker BF thank you
Hahahah just go to the place where everyone is wearing suits

What industry are you interested in breaking into?

Soulless prison for office workers.

Hi! :D thank you so much for the video. I was wondering if Canary Wharf is safe a night (like 11:30PM) for a woman
Hey, absolutely it’s owned by the Canary Wharf management team so it’s a lot safer than other areas
