That was your/our struggle. Yet, what came out of that struggle was a sense of community and more togetherness than you see now. Now, it is the opposite. Instead of putting all blacks together in ghettos (the government saw that we were creating cultures like hip hop and other good things from these ghettos): the government now splits blacks up, gentrification, and now Blacks are scattered all around different areas and no longer live in predominantly Black communities together. This creates a whole new set of problems that you did not experience

Crime stats are iffy. They add all catagories togather like(homi,car thefts,burglary,assualt,r word.) all get added togather so if one catagory is alot higher it makes the city look worse but they rate murder and car thefts the same.

High rises aren't Acorn Projects. High rises are privately owned and called City Towers. Before they were sold off, they were originally called Apollo Houses. The reason why people call them Acorn is because when Acorn 1, 2 and 3 were torn down around 1999, the city moved most of the residents into City Towers and Mohr houses during the construction. Highrises, Cypress and Mohr were separate hoods from Acorn before Acorn was remodeled 1 and 2 were renamed Town Center and Courtyard and Acorn 3 were turned into single family homes. Those dudes are young. Acorn hasn't been holding it down for a decade. Truth be told, Acorn has ran the entire Lowell Park area for over 30 years.

@@415_Stand-up I worked for TCI in Oakland they got bought out by AT&T then Comcast bought out AT&T I work in construction ran underground cable through acorn and installation in the units. Later I worked in fulfillment and did trouble calls and installs in acorn for Comcast.
