    they all are definitely skilled, but there are definitely clear cut levels in this match up. BUT! that doesn't mean that they are not able to tap into such an element as Krump. With any dance, you have to "tap" into it, don't be afraid of what people will think. Your style is YOUR style, when learning from someone, learn their technique, but apply it to YOUR principle of style. Great Video!!

    Regardless of the origin of a culture of dance, once it hit public domain its up for grabs for anyone to try. These cats have embraced it with the blessings of Tight Eys. So anyone who want to complain ....it is mute.
    Most of these comments

    Looks like its time for another beat hunt.
    -Konrkete's control is a reminder to why he is aka JR Tight Eyes.
    Baby tight eyez clearly still in his prime as well.
    I remember slavic from a few battles of the past and i used to see him as "too technical" for krump. Not that it was completely bad but there is a big difference in what he's doing now with his style and its very dynamic with the added bounces, dimestops and variation in his combos (seems like his forte).
    Aubrey seems more like a "jabber" (if thats a thing) which is cool and i feel like if it masters his craft, adds a bit more bounce, body control, he could be great

    Is Aubrey a real krumper? I mean....when you look at Beast & Konkrete, you can tell from their style that not only are they battle tested but this is there home. They live krump.
    Slavik was dope for someone dancing outside of his style; he clearly has the ability to transfer his dance knowledge and he has the makings of a dope krumper if he is willing to put in the work.
    Aubrey though....looks far more seasoned as a krumper if we put him next to Slavik....is it that krumping was originally his thing?

  • @naijainnit

    I think you may be looking at things a bit too deeply man. When people find commercial success, and when you have a growing social media platform, sometimes you just do things for fun AND for money. You haven't sold your soul by taking a financial opportunity that isn't tied to anything bad. So whether it's the Beach Boys, doing the limbo, a commercial or whatever - it's harmless. It's not that deep. These kinds of things also open your audience up much wider, because you appeal to the masses who have varying tastes and backgrounds.
    None of that means you don't know where you've come from or that you've lost touch with the foundational side of your craft. Shoot, even Snoop Dogg is cooking with Martha Stewart, hosting the Olympics with Kevin Hart, and even made a "gospel" album. I'm not comparing Aubrey to Snoop by any means. I'm not talking about status, but the notion that people can't do other things outside of what they're known for.
    It's great that you tried to look pass some things, but was there ever truly anything to look pass? Not in my opinion. To pigeon hole people (dancers) into one way of doing things, or your way, is not the best life approach. And for Tight Eyez to connect with them and show them love, why does that matter? Does that mean he's not open to showing others love as well? Certainly not. It's not like these are the only people he will ever "put on." Perhaps they just connected on levels that had more to do than just dancing (but dancing included). Who knows, and who cares? These are all men and they can do what they want at the end of the day.
    There's truly nothing to even be stressing about here. Honestly, it sounds like jealousy and envy from some folks.
    Having said that, should he said he was the G.O.A.T.? Mmmm, maybe not, but maybe that's how he sees himself in his own eyes. And of course he knows he's not the goat when in the company of Tight Eyez. Someone would call it confidence. Aubrey still showed up and battled, and not on the level of Beast, but yesterday it was being said that he didn't even dance - as if he was scared and stood in the corner. This video showed otherwise. But yeah man, just celebrate other people's successes and keep it moving. That's how you'll find success yourself.

    • @metalspalace
      @metalspalace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I hear you. I'll break it down for each of your points
      That view point of what is "bad" is subjective but a lot of people from the scene understand what it looks like and, regardless of intent, how it can be misinterpreted because of what's being displayed more to the masses. What's "harmless" to you is different for people like me because what this dance represents. It coming from our hoods, our culture, our lifestyle. The YEARS of work we put in this dance off because of people like Eyex and Kon who showed people like me the way. It doesn't feel harmless to us because we invested in what they told us this dance was suppose to represent. Most cats that thrive and build success off of using the dance are the only ones who benefit and the audience that is constantly being fed that type of content knows no better to be able to see the difference.
      I've never questioned their craft because Eyex will always be Eyex and Kon will forever be Kon. Two of the best in the world! I spoke on it that putting themselves in other spaces to build their audience is valid because they deserve it all for what they already did. The only reason I feel what I feel is because we've always had to fight for our space in this shit that the industry and social media influencers get to pimp out so they can build a name off of it. We put in made work to develop our dances and the art form. It's already too many cats eating off the work the culture provided and yet it never comes back here. So to see eyex and kon in that space doing what looks like just the bullshit gimmicky approach I assume you can recognize how awkward it can appear or feel to most that you would say are reading into things too much. We fighting to keep this energy within the culture alive against all odds and this wave of influence just makes it seem pointless when all you have to really do is just dumb down the dance so the masses can connect. To an extent you have a point because nothing will probably come of it from the exchange. They'll continue to make those same type of videos and play that game. Trust when I say I know mad people in the scene that feel some type of way about it so it's not even a small few or something I'm just reading into.
      I can tell by your response for justifying Aubrey's comment on being the goat most of what I'm saying wouldn't hit for you in the same way because that comment he made was completely asinine. He doesn't even pop. I know that confidence you speak of he FOR SURE would've NEVER said he's the king of krump tho but, I guess you would think he would say that simply because he's just confident in that regard.

    • @naijainnit
      @naijainnit 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@metalspalace First of all, thanks for taking the time to respond. I appreciate that. I hear what you're saying, but it's honestly no different than the origins of hip hop. Hip hop started in the hoods as well, with its own culture and lifestyle. And dance is one of the 4 pillars of hip hop. And just like hip hop music has gone mainstream and found commercial success, the same can happen for dance. If I were to compare your take of dance to hip hop music, you would be considered the "backpacker," that emcee who holds great disdain for hip hop having any kind of commercialism, "poppy" beats, but would rather have that underground, boom bap type of rap. Well, unfortunately that kind of hip hop music finds very little success. It finds some, but very little. And very little people go far with it and still have to work a 9 to 5 or a side hustle.
      As far as the audience seeing or knowing no different, if not for the audience, this art form doesn't go far at all. The audience is highly important to what you do, so their point of view and vantage point needs to be considered for sure - even if it doesn't 100% align with the views of a purist.
      Again, it's great that you've worked hard, put in the grind, and have done all of that, but I still fail to see how what someone else is doing holds you back from achieving your own personal goals. Having lived in this life since the birth of hip hop, I can tell you that there is room enough for EVERYONE to eat, and eat what they like. Trust me.
      I didn't defend Aubrey's comment. I said he probably shouldn't have said it, but also said that he probably meant it as confidence.
      Returning to the backpack rapper analogy. Many rappers who consider themselves purists of the artform and are actually angry at rappers with commercial success. But was rap supposed to remain in the basement? Was it supposed to never reach the heights it reached today? When RUN DMC collaborated with Aerosmith (a rock band) on "Walk This Way," many hip hop purists took issue with that. Well guess what, they had to kick rocks, because it caused the hip hop scene to grow and expand to white America and the world even further.
      All of the things you're saying about Aubrey and others who move how he moves are actually going to find yourselves holding the progression and success of dance back. Sure, you can keep it 100 and want to keep it all about the dance, or you can all eat. If you ask me, the approach Aubrey and them are taking will allow them and their children to eat, while others just want to dance and have just a little success. Why not have both? And why isn't there enough room for all to eat? I don't get that.
      I respect your opinion, and I like you as a person as well. I think you have a great personality, humor, and try to be as genuine as possible with all you say and do. I sense that from you. You also favor Pharrell. LOL But yeah man, I've lived long enough to know that there's room for everyone to do things the way they want, and on a path that may differ from your own. No need to hate or find fault with that. It'll only make you bitter and displeased with where you are in your own walk.
      Not everyone has to do things the way you think it should be done. There are no rules to art, unless in a sanctioned competitive setting.
      Stay up.
