Won’t that produce a lot of muck every 5 years?

Wrong. The rotting of fresh cedar trees on ponds deprives the water of oxygen and promotes algae blooms which is a further health hazard.
The size of the pond relative to the amount of rotting foliage and wood is a factor but the degradation will lower the O2 content of the pond.
So if you wish to deprive aquatic wildlife of O2 in their water then dump trees into it.
What this person says in the video is clearly uninformed, unresearched and amateur.
