Bobby McFerrin deserve to be listened and watched because he's a true GENIUS !!!!

I was privileged to be able to sing with him for five days at the Omega Institute in NY in 2007. People came from all over the world, more than 100 of us. We did an hour of circle songs with him morning and evening, and in between were sessions in various forms of vocal improv, including boombox, with members of Voicestra. I consider McFerrin a not-yet-ascended master, a spiritual being who creates peace and spreads love through the vibrations of his music. Still five of my favorite days, ever.
Wow it’s a shame that wasnt recorded and widely available. I love his album circlesongs so deeply. I wish he released an annual circlesongs album- heck a monthly circlesongs podcast!
Man! I wish I just get a chance to meet him once in my life time. You are a lucky one to get a chance to sing infront of him. He is an absolute legend, a sound wizard.

This splendid artist also deserves these funny phrases, as he could perform alone and without musical accompaniment and here he gives us a great demonstration! He is the orchestra, the conductor and the performer, as a choir and as a soloist, as well as a great showman.
What is certain is that we all don't have to worry, just listen to it and Bobby makes us happy!

It's really cool listening to this performance from back in 1986 and comparing his later performances like the Live In Montreal performance nearly 20 years later. His style has become sooo much more diverse and refined. The ability of his music to move the world has grown by magnitudes over time. Thank you sir!

Thank you for this upload. I had this album on cassette back in the '80s, got a lot of plays. Actually seeing Bobby perform adds a lot. The album had a "duet" with Robin Williams on it - would that have been another night?

A man with only a microphone and a bottle of water (and occasionally a stool) can hold an audience rapt. That’s genius.
The only other artist I've ever seen do that was Stanley Jordan; saw him at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis in 1985. Came out on stage with his guitar, an amp and a stool - then proceeded to mesmerize the audience for the next 45 minutes. If that wasn't mind-blowing enough, he was just the opening act; after he was done, Sonny Rollins came out and blew the walls down. I was fortunate enough to have met both of them backstage after the show; Stanley wasn't much older than I was, but seemed like a much older soul. I'm a sax player, so I was as starstruck as I could be by Sonny Rollins, but he couldn't have been any more chill; he was gracious and didn't make me feel like the complete dork I clearly was at the time.

A living legend, at least as of now, late 2022.

I have watched this man for hours at a time…pure genius! I am beginning to think that he is hearing music through the fingertips of his left hand. I have no idea how he does it or what he is hearing/experiencing but it is magical.

This kind of quality performance imho makes don’t worry be happy kind of look like, i don’t know, a disservice to his talents.
I remember back then, being really excited hearing that Bobby Mcferrin was coming out with something and then being so disappointed when the album finally came out.
Agreed. Most of what makes his performances so special is that they're live and improvized with audience participation, and a studio album kind of goes against all those things.
