I’m so grateful your video popped up in my feed, and excited to watch the rest in this series. Not only is this topic of discussion so important right now, but you are uniquely gifted at presenting it WELL. You have the knowledge, compassion, clarity, and technical skills needed to spread this message far and wide to those who desperately need to hear it. Thank you!
Wow, thanks so much for your kind words. And thanks for helping to spread the word about this important issue that doesn’t get enough attention. I hope, if you’ve experienced religious trauma, that you’re on a path to healing. 😊
Recovering catholic with NPD. I am still in the infancy of my self-discovery and I'm still digging, but I am firmly convinced that pretending to be a believer to avoid being ostracized as a child is at the root of my disorder. Looking forward to this series. Thank you. 💙
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comment. I wish you all the best in your journey. It is not easy, but hopefully my videos can help you in some way.
This video is very well made. and it deserves more attention. I think Both believers and non believers would benefit from an understanding of Christian Mal practice.
It amazes me how the deconstructionist movement demonizes ALL of evangelicalism. I know the people you’re talking about, heck, I grew up in a church like that, and you’re right, it’s destructive. However, after I left that church I have spent my entire adulthood in different churches who believe in that same God and walk in the love of Christ and live with a peace that surpasses understanding. They believe in sin, eternal separation from God, and the end times, but they recognize the full counsel of God. You’re demonizing an entire group based on the bad, which every group has. Lastly, I’m a psychology major and have read time and time again in my studies that religion tends to make people happier and live more fulfilled lives.
Indeed, there are studies out there demonstrating the positive impact of religion, which I acknowledge in the series. I'm glad you found a church home that provided benefit for you. It happens, which I also acknowledge in my videos. My goal is to demonstrate how and why it can go the other way for so many people, and we need to better understand why. I appreciate your kind and thoughtful comment. It's these types of comments I hope my videos attract so we can have a more meaningful and productive conversation about religious trauma. Thank you!
"It amazes me how the deconstructionist movement demonizes ALL of evangelicalism." Perhaps you would feel less targeted if the argument were that *any* group teaching a literalist reading of the Bible is complicit in spreading abuse because the biblical worldview is itself abusive. If you loved your own children the way Yahweh loves you, the state would take them away and imprison you. "You’re demonizing an entire group based on the bad, which every group has." Sort of like what Yahweh did to the entire human race because of Adam and Eve? Of course, the biblical response to this would be to point out that we are all inherently bad and deserve our predicament, but that just serves to illustrate my point above that the book teaching you such things is abusive. "religion tends to make people happier and live more fulfilled lives" "The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one." - George Bernard Shaw
@@marklewis1979 I'm not going to address what I believe are your negative and unfair interpretations of the Bible. I've heard all of it before and have argued it ad nauseam, as I'm sure you have, too. You don't have an understanding of the gospel. I will address your last critique. I didn't say that a believer is happier than a skeptic; I said religion makes an individual happier in life. People's lives change for the better when they find religion. Of course, there can be caveats, but the data is there. I know full and well that one can be a non-believer and live a happy life; I know people who do. I know that there are non-believers that could be happier than believers. I'm willing to concede to the reality of that, but it is still true that religion if done rightly, is also a positive. To think otherwise would only show your lack of experience or unwillingness to admit it.
@@thatsmynamesowhat2949 "You don't have an understanding of the gospel." The gospel is the good news that we miserable sinners can escape the eternal torment we deserve through the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus' death and resurrection. In other words, the gospel affirms our abusive predicament by providing us a way out of it. I'm afraid it's you who do not understand the gospel and its implications. "I didn't say that a believer is happier than a skeptic" I didn't say you did. I provided that quote as a response to the irrelevance of your pointing out that religion can make people happy.
@@marklewis1979 I understand the gospel, but I view it as being beautiful rather than dark and malicious as you do. You've left out so much of it. If you want a wonderful understanding of the gospel, you should check out the documentary called "American gospel."

Thank you for you kind comment. I agree: this needs more attention. Help spread the word about religious trauma.
Great video
Thanks!
Totally resonate. "I'm GAWD and you're not, get over it." 🤬
Your experience is not an easy subject to talk about. I don’t know how people do that but that’s a very personal decision.
New sub. Checking you out and may even review some of YOUR content to see where we have agreements, etc
