Receivers are different today than yesteryear. People think oh he’s nfl he must have T.O or Moss speed. A lot of Receivers today aren’t fast they jus have great hands and foot work so speed isn’t necessarily their best asset. All of JJ’s catches none of them actually had separation.

Moss, Calvin Johnson Andre Johnson etc ran faster than the current top 5 WR other than tyreke (Jefferson, Chase, Ceedee, AJ Brown etc ). One of the big differences between these one on ones and the actual NFL is the DB doesn't have to worry about getting beat deep. Part of what separates NFL level WR's from us mortals is the fact they run 4.2-4.4 second 40's. When defending them in a situation like these one on ones, you don't have to respect the raw speed and burst of an NFL level WR in the same way you have to in a real football game. So much of the actual strategy and tactics for NFL WR's is based around playing off of the threat their speed poses to the DB. These one on ones are amazing to watch, but it's essentially the equivalent of going up against press man coverage 10 yards from the end zone. The kind of build and attributes that make you excel at winning in these kind of 1 on 1 press man situations are generally being extremely agile, twitchy and relatively short to maximize how sharp your breaks are. What makes the top NFL WR's so amazing is the combination of the height, the mass, the strength, the speed, the agility, the football IQ, the route running, and the elite hands. There are people who have great hands and can cut on a dime, and are super athletic, but they are like 5'7 160LBs. Which makes it nearly impossible for them to even get a chance to succeed much less, dominate at the D1 or NFL level. Idc how good you are as a DB, with that kind of build you are going to have some problems trying to cover DK Metcalf. You're talking about guys who are 6'0-6'5, while also being 190-220LBs, while still being able to run a 4.2.- 4.4 second 40, and have elite hands, agility, footwork. All on top of the actual ability to play football incredibly well. It's a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the population.

Receivers are different today than yesteryear. People think oh he’s nfl he must have T.O or Moss speed. A lot of Receivers today aren’t fast they jus have great hands and foot work so speed isn’t necessarily their best asset. All of JJ’s catches none of them actually had separation.

IE 2024 you have several top 5 WR that ran 4.5 or higher including Ceedee Lamb and AJ Brown. Jefferson only ran a 4.43 which was the same bench mark 30 years ago that was considered "fast". Moss, Calvin Johnson Andre Johnson etc ran faster than the current top 5 WR other than tyreke (Jefferson, Chase, Ceedee, AJ Brown etc ). So no sir you don't know what you're talking about about since literally 30 years ago was the same for top guys 😂😂😂

One of the big differences between these one on ones and the actual NFL is the DB doesn't have to worry about getting beat deep. Part of what separates NFL level WR's from us mortals is the fact they run 4.2-4.4 second 40's. When defending them in a situation like these one on ones, you don't have to respect the raw speed and burst of an NFL level WR in the same way you have to in a real football game. So much of the actual strategy and tactics for NFL WR's is based around playing off of the threat their speed poses to the DB.
These one on ones are amazing to watch, but it's essentially the equivalent of going up against press man coverage 10 yards from the end zone. The kind of build and attributes that make you excel at winning in these kind of 1 on 1 press man situations are generally being extremely agile, twitchy and relatively short to maximize how sharp your breaks are. What makes the top NFL WR's so amazing is the combination of the height, the mass, the strength, the speed, the agility, the football IQ, the route running, and the elite hands.
There are people who have great hands and can cut on a dime, and are super athletic, but they are like 5'7 160LBs. Which makes it nearly impossible for them to even get a chance to succeed much less, dominate at the D1 or NFL level. Idc how good you are as a DB, with that kind of build you are going to have some problems trying to cover DK Metcalf.
You're talking about guys who are 6'0-6'5, while also being 190-220LBs, while still being able to run a 4.2.- 4.4 second 40, and have elite hands, agility, footwork. All on top of the actual ability to play football incredibly well. It's a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the population.
