- This video is all about putting clarinets into water (I try Bb clarinet and then Eb clarinet) and then playing various extended techniques: flutter tongue, slap tongue, spectral multiphonics, you name it. I love this sound so much...
Check out my previous video on water in the bass clarinet bell: • Bass clarinet water-in...

Thank you, Heather! This answers my question I had when seeing your Bassclarinet Water in the Horn video.
I can see how these could be used constructively in a composition, especially if amplified - Zappa once got the didgeridoo player of the Ensemble Modern to play into a bucket of water but it sounded more like a bad case of the squits!
That's brilliant - someone else was telling me about this just this weekend when I was talking about making this video :)
Maybe this is part of why whales sound the way they do.
Nature's clarinets
ok... this is going to sound crazy, but hear me out. You need a plastic clarinet with waterproof pads and glue and the ability to submerge much more of the clarinet into the water. I need to know what that will sound like even if it ends up being a complete failure.
not crazy at all, I'd love to know too!
