Pantera - Cemetery Gates or The Art Of Shredding.
Megadeth - A Toute Le Monde or In My Darkest Hour.
Death - The Flesh and The Power It Holds or Crystal Mountain
Alice In Chains - Would or Them Bones.
Either way I hope you eventually give these a listen I'm sure you've heard a couple already

If you are intersted in Harmonies, then I recommend hearing to Kalafina. (The movie about them is even called "A Sparkling Harmony Spun out of Dreams") Best song to have their voices single and together is probably this one:
      th-cam.com/video/zOYpZrz_eYk/w-d-xo.html
      Or maybe Oblivious th-cam.com/video/fh6GLNASOAY/w-d-xo.html
Unfortunately the group no longer exists.
The composer is Yuki Kajiura, who does a lot of "mystic" sogs for animes.

I love the romantic myth that Henry VIII wrote this for Anne Boleyn. When we were last in England, we ate a lovely meal in a restaurant that had originally been a house built for Anne by Henry. The English landscape is dotted with reminders of that romance. While it is not likely that Henry wrote this for Anne, it is a nice fit to their story. We remember him as the old, fat, diseased tyrant that he became and forget the cultured, romantic man that he was in his youth. His personality changes have been attributed to repeated, serious head traumas he suffered from his passion for jousting.
As a young man I used to sing this song, alternating between tenor and bass roles. I can still sing the bass role and get a nice rumble going, but now the tenor gets a bit screechy and my falsetto is best left undone. Joys of being old. This performance brought back some very nice memories and I loved your enthusiasm.
"Greensleeves" has always been a favourite of mine going back to my teen years when I sang it in choir. For me it never gets old. I'll probably have this on repeat for a while.
BTW, in one of your performances (can't remember the name, I plead CRAFT) I was impressed with your low range which had me fooled into thinking I was listening to a male tenor.

In the UK, we were often told in school history lessons, that his change in personality was due to the common affliction that affected many mediaeval kings: Paranoia. Brought on by the constant threat (or perceived threat) of being overthrown by a rival. The tiny number of Kings (and Queens) who weren't afflicted by this mania stand out from the rest.

  • @stephanginther9051

The history of Greensleeves is an interesting mystery. While Henry the 8th (I am I am, hehehe) being the author is the most popular theory, some historians are skeptical because the songwriting style of the song is an Italian style that was not popular in England until about 20 years later. It was an obscure and mostly unknown style in England at the time it was written. The thinking behind their logic is that the King of England would be more likely to know and be able to use the more popular styles. Some argue however that the fact the style was not well known may have been the vary reason the author, maybe Henry the 8th (I am I am) used it, so that does not at all remove him from the 'suspect pool'...... second VERSE same as the FIRST!

Gene Shinozaki is probably one of the best singing-focused beatboxers around at the moment, and his Elimination Round (a 4 minute performance) is a really great blend of singing techniques with beatbox. Another one worth mentioning is King Inertia who ranked 1st in the Elimination Rounds and has some amazing bass singing techniques and does some clean singing as well.

The only analogy that makes sense in my mind for the differences in voice are Tim's is like a razor blade, by the time you hear it it's already cutting while Peter's is like a pillow wrapped around a brick.

Love all your videos! I don’t suppose you would consider reacting to any of the songs on the first album of the band Free called Tons of Sobs? They were way ahead of their time with this album and the eldest was 18 when they released it with the drummer being 16. Insane voice in my opinion for the era (released in ‘69)

Love these collaborations. It's almost like there is an a cappella version of MCU. Add in The Hound and The Fox with their collabs with Peter, Tim, Rob and Adam Chance and the theatrical performances of VoicePlay and their guest artists and you get to listen to so many wonderful voices. Rob and Tim have both been in VoicePlay videos in the past year or so.

One of my all time favorite tunes, but I've never heard all of these verses, nor the story of Henry VIII & Anne! As a student of history I can definitely see Henry getting with his official musicians to put his poem to song! Especially as Anne kept hinting of leaving him with marriage being impossible. 🙄

My favorite music video of all time features this same tune. I never get tired of my 2 favorite tenors (Chris and Adam Rupp), and the rest of Home Free guys sang beautifully too. Because you enjoy beatboxing like I do, I hope you will check out Home Free: Do You Hear What I Hear, arranged by Adam Rupp! It is phenomenal and my favorite cover of all time! 🤯🤭🤯

Yet again I thoroughly enjoy both your erudite insight and your sheer overflowing joy - as always, thank you. :-)
I hear you on having a bass down the octave if possible, since the first overtone is an octave above the fundamental. Are you familiar with octavism/oktavism, the Eastern European tradition of really low basses singing what would otherwise be pedal notes on an organ? All unamplified of course, and there's some incredible work there.
And looping back to your point about the physical experience of being near a powerful singer, here's a paragraph from the wiki page of legendary octavist Mikhail Zlatopolsky:
    --
Zlatopolsky was not only known for the sheer depth of his range, but also his resonance and power. One Moscow chorister describes the experience of singing with Zlatopolsky thus: "At one concert on a small stage, we stood in close alignment. I was next to Mikhail. We were performing Kedrov's Our Father, and Zlatopolsky went into the contra octave. His voice began to shake the bodies of us who were standing near him. I was not up to singing-stood there in a kind of trance, trying to comprehend the experience." Another remembers seeing Zlatopolsky perform a choral cycle by Gavrilin. He noted that generally oktavists, along with the rest of the choir, need to be precisely on pitch in order for such notes in the contra-octave to be clearly audible-otherwise the sonority is ruined. During the performance, however, he recounts that the rest of the choir sounded like "nothing more than a squeak" above the sound of Zlatopolsky's voice. Despite his enormous voice, Zlatopolsky was relatively small in terms of height.

I like the idea Henry had written it, especially after watching The Tudors, lol. But historically, it does appear the song was written after Henry had passed.
I wonder if Elizabeth has heard any songs by Sevdaliza? Her voice is so...I don't even know, I've never heard someone sing in such a way, just recently heard of the band myself. "Joanna" is a haunting song.
