2:38 - Just in case anyone was wondering; the panellist shown here (John Mercer), ultimately DID quit his job, and it's more than likely his company DID receive *indirect* compensation from LFC. So, once again, Ian Hislop on top form in his questioning, and once again, a politician that lied through his teeth/didn't accept something untoward could have gone on without his knowledge, e.g. the indirect payment being possible/the case.
The guy seems like a bit of a scum bag here. Doesn't give any straight answers, says one thing then switches when asked about it, and becomes super defensive over even the most simple questions. I mean, the whole trying to frame it as if they're judging him for "helping veterans," while they're trying to get a straight answer on the 85k? That's so bad.
Well- you know- I,ve read the Gulag Archipelago, with great grueling patience, also tried to read Crime and Punishment- and to be honest- the latter- I,m still trying to work out why its called - "a great work", hell, maybe I didn't get far enough into that one?? its on my book shelf gathering lots of dust. Sorry Dostoevsky. 🤷♂
I read C&P and wrote my senior English paper on the autobiographical elements in it, comparing Dostoevsky and Raskolnikov. Got very into 19th century Russian novels at the time. Have no idea why.
Nobody should ever have their first introduction to British panel games with 'Mornington Crescent' on ISIHAC. That would just be cruel. Or, possibly, very funny. 🙂
Is this where I admit that, when I first found ISIHAC, I spent hours plotting Mornington Crescent moves on a Tube map, trying to figure out how the game worked? 🤣🤣🤣

i adore the idea that people are introduced to british culture through panel shows (as they should be)
Its hilarious 😂 i grew up with Monty Python and I love british culture
Wittiest culture in the world. Few of our American comics can match U.K. comic wit.
They give us Americans a warm, fuzzy feeling for some reason.
I’ve been going through a stressful time lately and I just got introduced to these panel shows, I think they’re so witty and fun!
Sure, but through rock and punk rock is the best, then dystopian novels like 1984 and V for Vendetta.
I’m Canadian and watch British game show every night before bed. QI and HIGNFY are favourites
Mock the Week and Cats Countdown and WILTY for this American.
Me too but my nightly go to is qi and taskmaster. Sometimes Would I Lie To You or 8 out of 10 cats.
'Kanye West isn't a constituency' had me spitting my drink. Another gem from Ian.
The giant tortoise on QI is my most favourite thing ever 😂
"That's no way to treat the elderly" cracks me up every fkn time
Heck yeah! Thanks for the upload!!
Watching Mitchell enjoying himself is a pleasure
13:00 (ish) to 16:00 (ish): Lee Mack has a point, but I wanted to say RIP Dave Myers, you shall be missed.
Who's the woman? She's funny!
She’s Ruby Wax.
Joe Wilkinson's poem.
I actually did read 1984 - it was required in 9th grade and I had to write a book report about it.
The rest of the world can't do edgy light entertainment like we can, or balls to the wall say anything, like mock the week could
As an American, I absolutely agree...especially involving Fry.
South Park?
THEN SHOW US THE ROUND THING!!!
😂😂
5:42 ... why did I sign up?
Perfect time to repeat the £85000 salary for 4 hours work... they went easy on him

Johnny Mercer was very good, he was able to combat Ian well.
There's good eating on one of those things'*... Terry Pratchett... Small Gods...

I gave up on the audio book after twenty minutes!
