  • Dallas Area Rapid Transit turns the Big 3-0 this month as the agency celebrates the 30th anniversary of the vote to create DART. On Saturday, Aug. 13, 1983, residents in Dallas and 13 other cities elected to be a part of the new transit agency and contribute 1 percent in sales tax to fund it. www.dart.org/news/news.asp?ID=...

There will be light rail to Allen, McKinney, etc one day. The route is in place and DART owns the right to those tracks (they just need to be made to support light rail and add stations).

[1] Like conventional electronic fare systems, the card employs RFID technology to operate without physical contact. They are available for purchase at all MRT stations and all chain convenience stores.

The Octopus card is a reusable contactless stored value smart card for making electronic payments in online or offline systems in Hong Kong. Launched in September 1997 to collect fares for the territory's mass transit system, the Octopus card system is the second contactless smart card system in the world, after the Korean Upass, and has since grown into a widely used payment system for all public transport in Hong Kong,[1] leading to the development of Oyster Card in London.
