Bro passed the karman line in minecraft
I actually used this video to compute the acceleration due to gravity in minecraft because why not
Yes I know this data already exists but I wanted to figure it out myself
WARNING: PHYSICS AND CALCULUS AHEAD
In projectile motion and free fall, altitude at time t (or simply x(t)) is given by x(t) = -g/2 * t^2 + v0 * t + h0
where g is the acceleration due to gravity, v0 is the initial velocity, and h0 is the initial altitude.
The launch starts at 1:10 and ends at 5:26, for a duration of 256 seconds. The fall starts at 3:18, exactly halfway in between. (In fact, the fall always starts exactly halfway between the start and end)
For simplicity sake, let's mark t = 0 as the beginning of the launch and t = 256 as the end. The fall starts at t = 128, exactly halfway in between.
We know x(0) = 0 (because we haven't launched yet), so from that we get:
-g/2 * 0^2 + v0 * 0 + h0 = 0
h0 = 0
We also know that at t = 128, the boat goes from flying to falling, so its velocity at that rate is 0.
We will need a new equation: v(t) = -g * t + v0.
You can easily get this equation simply by taking the derivative of x(t) with respect to t.
Now plug in and solve:
v(128) = 0
-128g + v0 = 0
g = v0/128
Not very useful right now since we don't have v0, but there are two ways to remedy this:
WAY 1: Measure v0
The video shows v0 is approximately 2000 near the beginning.
g = v0 / 128
g = 2000 / 128
g = 15.625 m/s/s
WAY 2: Measure altitude
At t = 128 the measured altitude is about 130 km. So:
-g/2 * 128^2 + v0 * 128 = 130000
g * 8192 = v0 * 128 - 130000
g = v0 / 64 - 15.869
Combined with g = v0/128 from earlier, we get:
v0 / 64 - 15.869 = v0 / 128
it'll be easier to solve for v0 / 128 instead of v0 directly since that's our g
v0 / 64 - v0 / 128 = 15.869
v0 / 128 = 15.869
g = 15.869 m/s/s
According to the bedrock wiki, gravity for boats is 16 m/s/s. That's... actually pretty close ngl holy shit

you should see how far horizontally you can get instead of just landing in the same spot
Now do this with large biomes
If the render distance allows us to see 1048576 blocks, does that mean we aren’t actually seeing the entire minecraft world and there is much more than that. If so, how big is a minecraft world from one end of the world to the other?
About 60 million blocks.
Out of curiosity, you keep mentioning that you made a mod for the >256 render distance chunks. Is this mod available for others to use?
he didnt make it, its the Distant Horizons mod.
@@shroove4312 nah it was only the 256 chunk square that was distant horizons, distant horizons cant go this high
This was my first modding experience and the code is awful and probably bugged as hell in any other usecase than the one I used it for. But I plan to describe in details how it works in a future video so people with more knowledge than me can do it if they want.
I’m looking forward to that; it’ll be incredible if it works how it appears to be working in the video
Now I'm curious how this would look with StardustLab's Continental installed
My question is : is that a default random map? I thought there was more water... the oceans look so tiny from the altitude.
Thank you, great video.
This is a vanilla minecraft world in 1.20.2. Minecraft world generation algorithm doesn't really create big oceans.
now do it with a boat inside a boat containing more boats with each boat having a pig
I was watching this through the youtube preview, but once u hit me with that pigstep line i had to click on it and give it a thumbs up
Great space program, but as far as I know from my experience with distant horizons, you need to load all the chunks to get them pictured
Distant Horizon is used only for the first 256 chunks here
@@MahtogMChow did you do the rest then??
I love the pig names 😂
Anvil one was on spot lmao
The legend listened.
“Acktually space is further than 4km 🤓☝️”
As if they can get to an elevation above 200m without running out of breath
Impressive. Now we need to see how far you can go when launched at a 45 degree angle.
Mr necromancer back at it again
the speedometer at the bottom is not showing speed its showing velocity.
And also the MC world is 4x the size of eart so the Karman space line is to be higher.
