The SG Jr was my first guitar, I've brought others since, but I've fallen back in love with mine. It really is an underrated work of art. Can't wait to hear the '62.

Macari's was one of my favorite stores in London to window shop. The proprietor was forced to move to 3 bridges in Sussex back in 2020 to escape London overheads and the impacts of COVID on trade. I believe the old shop is still unoccupied which gives some indication of the current economic climate. Its amazing the materials you can use to make guitars out of and for them still to sound good, I've even seen someone use concrete on TH-cam. It made me chuckle noticing that the guitar featured was bolt on as it would be very difficult I guess to glue together two pieces of steel effectively and how did the luthier manage to glue the wooden fretboard to the rest of the neck? Agreed that I wanna be your dog sounded excellent when you were playing it.

What a stunner! If she plays as great as she sounds and looks, she's a 10. I am always afraid to consider single pickup guitars, but this one has me quite convinced I need to give one a whirl. Thank you, Colin, for another wonderful film. Your lead playing on this one was wonderful. There was a lot of soul in it. Keep up the brilliant work and cheers, mate!

awesome, I've been waiting for this video for a while since i asked about it!!. Now it's time to watch it but i can say i like the sounds i'm hearing in the intro.
I guess a metal body would work really well getting rid of any hum as it is basically a big faradaycage so it should be very quiet. great for single coil pickups i imagine.
    looks and sounds great!
enjoy the weekend and try and stay cool during this hot weather. and ill be seeing you again next week! cheers!!

Wow! what a beautiful work of art. It's the best sounding single p-90 equipped guitar that I've ever heard. I put a Kent Armstrong high-output humbucker pickup in a Squier '51 that I had. It would really rock! Kent Armstrong pups are underrated and often unfairly overlooked, IMO.

Bloody extradinary! Love it, I stopped 5 mins in and went straight onto Loic Le Pape's website. Pulled up the guitars. Gob smacked, especially the Very special rusty Les Paul dbl cut. I think you are bang on, you are going to send his orders into orbit. Already a 9 months wait. SG had a swank to it, a lux sound. Very jealous, bit hard to get this stuff in OZ. Well done, stoked for next week. And yea Harley Benton amp doing a cracking job. Cheers mate.

What a great little guitar! The build standard looks very high and it sounds great, there haven’t been that many metal body electric guitars made although the Trussart and the Tokai Talbo do spring to mind . I’m glad that you had the nerve to open it up so that we could have a look inside, I was quite surprised as I was expecting a centre block arrangement like a 335 has. The Kent Armstrong pickup is a good choice, many years ago he was working in the UK and rewound a Telecaster pickup for me, I also bought a couple of excellent sounding pickups from him. Keep the videos coming, I’d love to see more of your own guitars as well as the new stuff.

    • @theguitaristas
      @theguitaristas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Cheers Henry, I think I was right too and Kent is actually Dan's son? More of my own stuff will be revealed over time but I do have to watch the viewing stats though as this video will probably be less popular than some of the 'affordable' guitar reviews - so I will have to sneak them out every now and then!

    Neat stuff!!!
I was shopping around this week looking at all of the new Epiphone SGs and not a damned one has P-90s AND a fat neck. Everything has that gawd awful Slim-Taper crapola.
I guess I'm just not supposed to own an SG right now... I sure would like to have something with P-90s though!!!
I had thought about the Wilshire but I'm just not crazy about that jockstrap on the headstock...😕😕😕
I suppose I could remove it and just let the headstock go commando...lol
That's it, I'll have the only "Epiphone Commando" guitar!!!
All I need is a regular Epiphone decal and a custom "Commando" truss rod cover to pull it off!!!
I've got to stop "waking and baking"...lol.😤😁😎

Great episode, but metal guitar is still something I need to get my head around as I'm more comfortable with my wood range. Unique idea though!

Great video, Collin! The heavy metal SG really sounds great. It's kinda like a resonator SG! And that dang Tube 15 amp sings. Also, Guild Surfliner might be worth looking at in the future. Thanks!

A steel SG. Wasn't expecting that!
Colin, I think my Custom might have mojo! Considerably more so than the Slash or R9. I think I've decided on the Seymour Duncan Jazz/JB combination for it down the line.
I have to say thanks again for the video on that Harley Benton/Stage Right 15W combo tube amp the other day. It's got a lot of really good reviews and is on my Amazon wish list. Maybe at the end of the year! Holiday Sale or the like.

That P90 is badass. Sounds terrific. Also love le pepe’s recreation of a Les Paul. Wish they had more for sale.
Also will you be reviewing the Gibson Les Paul Classic any time soon

I will maybe get to the classic one day but had enough of Les Pauls for a while! 🤣👍

Also, I hope you can check out some Aria Pro guitars like the Jet (Baritone or with P-90s) and the Bowery models. Always thought they were unique and cool looking. Cheers!
