    I did the same kind of thing last year. Started in July, by September did an artificial whitewater run in Nottingham. In December tried the run on the Dee above Llangollen in quite high waters. The buzz and adrenaline means I can't wait to get back and do it again. More determined than ever to get fitter and more skilled and try more challenges. Great video and some amazing rescue strokes at 4:13 to avoid a capsize. Hope you have another go soon and I will be looking forward to seeing the progress!

      Great to hear man! I realized that I'm way too scared, which is probably why i won't be doing it again anytime soon. My respect for the water is super high i guess. Thanks for your kind words and I wish you all the best. Cheers!

    Man dude, even for someone who has kayaked before, those first couple of peel-ins you did to the Eddys between 1:55 and 2:53 were looking fantastic! Almost everybody I learned to kayak with (including previous flat-water and ocean kayakers) would pretty universally flip and swim a few times before they started to get the hang of the peel-in. Your peel-out form was just about there too, just a bit more power and ferry angle and you'll be home free. I'm not a regular viewer or anything so for all I know, you could have improved to the point that you are better at whitewater then I am (8 month mark) but if not, you would make a wicked whitewater paddler with just a bit more time spent on the form. I see this video is almost a year old so its probably pretty weird to have a random person show up and start trying to give you advice, but holy hell dude do you have some potential! Great video man

      Dude thank you so much for reaching out and those kind words! That was the first and last time I have paddled whitewater, so no improvement ever since (unfortunately). But after watching the video again and reading your comment I feel like I should really give it another go 😃
      I will have some videos coming up of my mates traveling to Chile to paddle whitewater. Don't really know when I will have another chance of going again. Will see 😉
      Have a great day man!

      I’m 4 min into your clip and am blown away so far how naturally you hung in there. Well done, dude!! Impressed. Kayaking is an amazing sport and skill. Give it another go!

    You have excellent natural feel for the water, shown here in your ability to bend your torso to absorb the motion of the water. That seems to be what keeps you upright. Its amazing this is your first experience. I would have wet exited early and it would not have been pretty. Well done.

      Looked like mostly lI+ maybe a borderline III tossed in but definitely impressive for a first timer! I thought you were gonna eat it at the wave train around the 4 min mark but you saved it with a brace and "just keep paddling" mentality. Been doing this for 7 years give or take and that s#*t ain't easy and def isn't fur everyone! I constantly flipped catching Eddie's and peeling out in the beginning more then running an actual rapid bc everything is counter tuitive in paddling and just ass backwards or against every cell in your body telling you to do everything possible to stay alive when that's actually usually what causes most accidents. She's a beast but treat her right and she'll definitely return that favor. Keep up the awesome work dude, you'll be thankful you did.

    I had my first time just earlier today.I reckon I did pretty well, I didn't flip or fall out at all.I also taught myself a few valuable kayaking tips. It was a good day out. I was out on a river, like you, I faced a strong current, like you. But my current was a *lot* weaker than yours.
    Edit: I did *not* mean to put a random like to a place called tips.It

    • @ARTVENTUREFILMS
      @ARTVENTUREFILMS  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds awesome! funny that your river was similar to the one i went on!
      I was a bit scared of that current, so better to have less starting out!
      Thanks for reaching out dude!

      @@ARTVENTUREFILMS Yeah. Not that similar though, the current I was on was *extremely* weak, but I still had a great time.

    Why do you keep stopping at the shoreline?

    • @ARTVENTUREFILMS
      @ARTVENTUREFILMS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because that were the only eddys we could find on the river to stop and pause for a second.
      Normally when you start whitewater kayaking the eddys are much bigger which makes it a lot easier to train :)

    • @osborney1951
      @osborney1951 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ARTVENTURE FILMS Im new to this, in fact I just got my kayak, and am literally just about to put it in the water for the first time, can you explain why you want to stop along the shoreline?

    • @ARTVENTUREFILMS
      @ARTVENTUREFILMS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When whitewater kayaking you want to stop so you can control the ride and catch up with fellow kayakers I guess.
      I'm not an expert myself. Maybe watch my kayaking documentary here on TH-cam and then you might be able to see why they're doing it.
      Anyways, have fun with your kayak!!

      You still paddle both sides most times but you change the angle of your paddle in the water, and the angle you are pulling or pushing the water to correct your course.

    • @ARTVENTUREFILMS
      @ARTVENTUREFILMS  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's one of the key moves you do in whitewater kayaking. You try to find spots behind rocks or on the side, where the water circulates back or is still, so you can actually stop on your way down. This river definitely wasn't made to practice that, but you should when just starting out :)

    • @jonathankuykendall7622
